I got a Verizon HTC One by auction from ebay and the seller claimed it is brand new.Everything looks like it is new but there is a defect on the screen.Looks like a purple blemish and it doesn't seem like a dead pixel or something since I can see the defect even when the phone is powered off.The seller said he got it from craigslist and I contact Verizon and HTC and looks like they only take care of the phones sold by them.Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
fix for you
You aren't stuck with this. eBay has a money-back program that you reach thru their Resolution Center.
Quote from eBay:
What is the eBay Money Back Guarantee?
We guarantee that you will get the item you ordered or get your money back. We have a simple three-step eBay Buyer Protection process to assist you in case something goes wrong with a transaction. You can go to the Resolution Center and contact the seller. Most sellers will quickly help you, but if you are not happy after a few days you can easily refer the case to eBay. If you haven't received your item, or the item is not as described, we'll refund your purchase price plus original shipping on virtually all items. If return shipping is not payable by seller in accordance with the seller’s return policy, return shipping costs are the buyer’s responsibility.

Yeah I'm aware of this. However it looks like it is a manufacturing defect. The seller just claims it is brand new and I guess new device could have defects so it's not the seller to blame I guess. The seller should be an individual though, not a company or something like that.
yes, but
He sold it to you and is obligated to send exactly what was described, not a reject.
And he's likely in a better position to get it replaced than you.
No shame to say you didn't get what you expected and would like a refund.

+1 I buy and sell on eBay daily and I can assure you will get your money back. I also recommend paying with PayPal to add an "extra layer of protection".
next
My cynical take: he bought it from a shady Craigslist seller, discovered the flaw, then turned around and sold it on eBay with no returns.
Even though he specified No Returns, eBay will still open a case if the item is not As Described.
You can explain to eBay that you did not get a New item as was posted by the Seller because there is a flaw.
Clearly describe flaw. Document it well with multiple pictures from several angles.
No fight or argument here; just you saying you'd like to return it because of the undisclosed flaw. Then let eBay decide it.
This happened to me and after a week or so, I was refunded thru Paypal and returned it to Seller's address.

Thanks for the reply. He always emphasizes that it is factory sealed phone and there is no way for him to check if there's defect but actually if you own a One you know the box is not sealed and anyone can open the box and take the phone out.The plastic wrap can also stick multiple times. He just put brand new on his listing and he said he sold me exactly what the listing said.He even said my request is "ridiculous"now I'm done arguing with him.Just wait until Friday to ask ebay step in.

I guess if you purchased through ebay you have to pay with paypal right?Anyway I paid with paypal and hope everything goes well after ebay steps in.This seller looks good at first but starts to get ridiculous after I told him about the defect. Now I think he just put no return on his listing trying to avoid this kind of problem.

PayPal is usually the only payment option but not always.. Anyways eBay will get it all sorted out for you.

Now I feel the same way as yours. He replied several times stating that it is a factory sealed phone and he can't check if anything is wrong and since I powered on the device,it becomes an used phone.Actually the box is not sealed and anyone can take the phone out and power it on.He even blame me about this saying I could make the defect myself.Reminds me of rude sellers back in China on taobao years ago.
Again, thanks very much for your help.

Make sure that you're sending him message through the e-bay page and not personal e-mail. This way you'll have a "paper" trail showing paypal/ebay all of the sellers BS and how rude he is to you. If all else fails you can contact your bank and they will forcefully reverse the transaction and get you back the money. I would use that as a last resort after trying paypal/ebay.

Skinomi has their Galaxy Nexus screen protectors and adhesive back protectors up on amazon. I ordered one last night and If it's anything like the one my mom bought for her Blackberry I'll be happy... once I get the damn thing on anyway. I'm really hoping I can get an OtterBox for it though.
How the going to a back protector for that textured back?
I voided my warranty and your nexus.
Thanks for the tip, just picked one up!
they do have a coupon out I think it is- skinomi25 thats 25% off
tnx, Skinomi is new of me, i jest order 2 units and hope that the screen quality will be fine.

this reminds me of when I ordered Notion Ink screen protectors. They sent people tracking numbers and everything.. then 2 weeks down the road, we all found out that they didnt even have any stock and there were delays. They didn't even bother informing their customers.
It was a disaster
Sounds like handtec. Im wondering where my skinomi is also. My window for receive date was 11/22-11/28 and i ordered around the 16 th or so. Im gonna cancel and not buy from them again. Lame.

I'm still waiting on my skinomi skin from Amazon. Ordered on the 9th and it was supposed to be delivered by the 22nd. On the 24th I emailed the seller to find out it was a pre-order item and they would get them out as soon as possible.
Perhaps they should have listed it as pre-order on the Amazon page.

Just wait till you try to do a replacement with them for their lifetime warranty guarantee. I had to make a claim for my skinomi on my Motorola Xoom a while back and they asked me to fill out a form and FAX it to them along with my receipt. I asked if I could use email instead and they told me no. So they said out of kindness they would send me a replacement without me faxing them the form and proof of purchase. The replacement arrived in about 4 weeks during which I continuously asked them to update me with tracking which was never given to me. I will never again order anything from that company even though the skins are actually good quality.

Nope, this: "We're sorry. We are unable to retrieve tracking information for this shipment at this time."
The tracking number basically doesn't exist.
Just got this email back from Skinomi, I thought I would share...
according to them, they actually shipped my skin. last time I confronted them about this kind of situation (with the NotionInk protectors), they readily admitted they didn't ship it or had any in stock. So, I have no reason not to believe them...... I hope?
Hello,
Please be assured we do have this item in stock and your item is well on its way. We must advise though that it normally it may take about 1-2 weeks from the time your package ships for international items to arrive. Unfortunately it usually is not possible to track international items. However 99% of the time our international customers receive their packages during that 1-2 week. Usually most orders actually arrive sooner.
Please check with your local customs/post office for any information about your package. Your tracking ID is your customs ID. If you do not receive your package within 2 and a half weeks please let us know
Thank you
****Expect possible shipping delays due to the holiday season right around the corner. We apperciate your patience and understanding, and wish you very happy holidays!****

I ordered mine from their website, said was shipped on the 26th. Four days later, never got the package (I live an hour away from their warehouse). Contacted them, they said 'lost in shipment with USPS' and they'll ship another one, hopefully its true :/
Seeing if anyone has experience with this. Selling my incredible 2 on eBay within US only via PayPal payment. When I looked up selling to other countries I saw a bunch of complaints that buyers were scaming by receiving the phone and then filing no receipt claim with PayPal and getting their money back completely screwing the seller. This was even with delivery confirmation, but not signature verification. This made me cautious still for a US sale.
So question is- should I only ship via UPS or fedex with a mandatory "Signature Verification" when shipping a phone valued at $200-250? More Costly shipping To prevent a charge back scam..
Thanks for any insight!

1. Ensure Good feedback
2. Ensure you are seller protected
3. Ensure you make a note of the IMEI/Serial in case you need to get it barred (not sure if it will bar it internationally but worth doing still)
4. Package the item taking photographs at every stage, so in case there is a claim, you have proof you packed it
5. Post via signed and tracked delivery with the relevant amount of insurance for the package! (don't skimp on this or you'll get done over by paypal in case of a dispute)
6. What ever you do, don't lost the receipt and tracking number!
Hope that helps
My Samsung vibrant auction is ending today and i made sure I wrote " no international shipping".. also, NEVER ship the product until you receive the money on your PayPal account by going to there website, don't look at just the emails because people fake those... Mike is selling for 220.. I will ship with USPS priority with a signature confirmation...
I have only used USPS without any issues. And you can fill out and print the mailing label from within Ebay.

Hi Everyone,
I have DHD now and want to buy the 1X .. i'm having an issue as i'm in Canada and they only sell the Dual-Code 16GB model. I want to buy the Quad-Code- 32GB model.
looking thru ebay and found many of them, i'm affraid of the defects, specially no one post if it's HT23 or HT24 or whatever.
also concered about return it to HTC for replacement, they will accept it or not, or there is any paper need to send with it ...
so confused ... can anyone guide me please
Thanks
I would be the same as you, after all what is the reason for someone to sell these phones on ebay.
Have you not thought about buying one from a place like amazon or some place like it that sells new phones with guarantees.

Well honestly if you want to get the quad core model, get it from a reputable seller. This HTC One X seems pretty good. They ship worldwide too. But as long as your prepared to send it away if it does have defects then you are good to go. From what I've seen the units that came from china seems to be the one that has more defects compared to units that are made from Taiwan of Singapore. That seller on eBay gets his stock from Singapore.
PS
Always check their return policy before you buy.

Like you said contact the seller and ask them about replacement if the screen has a fault and what are their procedures of replacing the unit.
Do they have to send it away first for checking before they give you a new one? Ask them specific questions about your concerns. And if you're not happy then don't get one from them. Shop around and see who has the best return policy for faulty units.
you are not stuck with anything you buy if it isn't what you thought you were getting or expected for your money. buy it, and if it's not right, then get your money back. the only time you can't do that is if you bought something with cash off of a street corner. ;p
I'm in a bit of a weird situation where I've accidentally preordered 2 note 7s. I'm going to keep one obviously but I was wondering what's the best way to get rid of the other one? Would it be better to try and return it directly to Samsung (bought from the website) or should I try reselling on eBay or something else? I'm from the uk and I know there's a huge demand so I feel like reselling on eBay would be a good idea but wouldn't this mean the warrenty is voided? Are people still interested in buying an international phone with no warrenty? Also if there are any other good sites than eBay please say.
Thanks.

If you reject the delivery, they will eventually just charge you 15% restocking fee. If you sell on Ebay, you will take a hit on price and you have to ship quick. Offer Free Overnight to buyers. And you get rid of it that way. Good Luck!

EU distance selling laws gives you the right to return any product bought online within 14 days for a full refund on the product, if they charged shipping that and the return shipping is lost as they won't refund that since they technically did that service.

That is what I meant. Would be pretty tricky for them to not accept a return on an unopened, unused, resell-able item.
Amazon is issuing refunds for some Galaxy Note 7 accessories
http://www.theverge.com/2016/10/12/13262538/samsung-galaxy-note-7-amazon-accessory-refunds
So I just got of the phone with amazon and although you are outside the return period they will give refunds once they have received the products back. So when you contact Amazon choose the "phone call" option as the means to communicate with amazon on the returns.
I did this and they were very helpful. The biggest PITA part was having to box everything up individually based on how it was ordered but free ship back and refunds coming.
When I referenced the Note 7 recall they knew immediately what I was talking about so +1 for Amazon customer service
I did have a rather difficult time finding an actual phone number to call as they want to solve the worlds issues via chat or FAQs.
Here is what I used if anyone else wants it
1-888-280-4331
I used the chat feature and they set up individual returns for each item. I asked to be able to put them all together in one box but it had to be separate.
I realized that they were charging shipping. The rep said he would adjust the refund to credit the shipping fee back as well.

I got the $2 credit for a case, but one online chat changed all my returns to refund all the shipping.
The trouble was minimal. Print a label, drop the item in an envelope and drop it off.
They sent me prepaid labels. I was told to put all items (4 separate returns in one box) Put 4 separate labels on the box drop off at a USP location. I am doing that today, I will follow up when I get my credits.
Here's what I did.
1)Ask for the labels, explain that these are N7 items and it was out of your control
2) Ship them
3)You'll see that you're charged $6 for shipping
4)Chat with customer service after and ask them refund the shipping charges.
4) They will say yes and you'll get confirmation.
QED.
Wow, this is great to know. Thank you guys. I purchased a glass screen protector that broke trying to get off the phone and I threw it away, I'll probably be out of luck with that one, but maybe I'll ask them about it.
Samsung is going to let me keep the accessories and refund my money. I bought the led case and the clear case from the Samsung website with a coupon I had.
I will most likely sell both cases as a bundle on ebay or craiglist for cheap.
