No Clue - LG Optimus G Pro

So I put my wifes sim card in my phone and sure enough it said AT&T at the top of the screen. Since no one has any idea how to spoof this or edit this out ima just gonna have to buy the same sim card my wife has. I don't know about anyone else but but I don't like having this fancy, powerfull, phone and it look like a cheap burner because of this "HOME" crap.
So now it's on to more important things. Like how are those cubby's doin!...........lol

I'm not sure about this phone but any other phone I've had this can be changed by editing the build.prop

Oh I'm sure. That's not the problem. The problem is I can't edit this because it's a fussed up Straight talk sim card. I know this because my wifes is the same phone and card but hers says AT&T. I put her card in mine and it says AT&T. I put my card in hers and it says HOME. So its the sim card, not the phone. Right now I'm messin around with some status bar replacement apps. They DO make the status bar say AT&T, or whatever you want. I just gotta find on with a style I like....lol

I just couldnt see the 16gb working for me and no sd card just killed me for the XL version. Thanks in advance

I'm pretty sure they will give you a new micro-sim card, but I doubt they will be happy to setup your device for daily use ;-). But I guess that depends on who will be helping you!
(Just guessing though)
Reason I ask is one of my friends imported his SGS 2 and his local ATT store refused to help him with it as it wasnt released in the US yet. He got it done at another store (ie got the sim and some help on setup). I am just hoping to avoid that problem and was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience.

Well it isn't that much of a problem to setup the phone yourself. It's a very easy proces and it really isn't worth all the hassle. (The phone literally walks you through each step, from configuring wifi to adding your facebook account).
Oh I know I am mostly concerned about the APN's. Several people I have talked with use different APN settings in the US. LOL I know for that info to come here not the flunkies at the ATT store. Just wanting to know if I get a jerk rep how others handle them.
i'm already on ATT under contract and they told me i could exchange for a micro sim at no charge. if i don't have the right service when it starts up, then they will have to help me get my phone working. if you aren't on ATT, then i guess it's up to them.
So how do you like your One X?? Did you try to cut your sim. I think mine might be to old from looking at it lol

[Q] (Ok I know I am a Noob)What happens if I put my At&t Sim card in a One X?

Ok, I have a ****ty At&t phone and I want to know what happen's when I switch them and start using it. Will my data plan change without me knowing? Will I be kicked Of the plan I am on?
That's great that you know you are noob ))))
No! You can put your sim wherever you want, you will remain on your current plan, and nothing will change, except the phone. )
Thanks Also

Ok, Ive read about the One X's having Micro Sd slots and some people cut them and make them smaller, I have a ****ty Pantech Will My Sim Fit in the One X ?
I think no! But that's very easy, just pick up some ID and go to AT&T. Ask them to give you a new micro SIM card. They will take your old SIM and exchange it to new - micro. That should be for free and is less than 5 minute job. And that's much safer than cutting it.
Thanks

Ok thanks, I was just worried that my plan might change or something along those lines.
You are welcome. Nothing will change on your plan if you switch the device.
I called the AT&T customer service and they told me that once I switched from feature phones to smartphones I DO need to have data plan. It is part of their new policy and will remain indefinitely.

[Q] No SIM error on stock with root

I have root, thats it, i get NO SIM in the notifications and have no data. Every now and then I would be able to restart to fix it,but now it seems its working either. ICCID is unknown in About phone. Everything else seems alright.
This is almost a brand new phone, only rooted. Had no new ROM installed on it. I restored it to the very first backup i made after rooting, same issue. I have a pending 4.3 update, which I have not updated yet.
Any idea what's going on ?
No one?

My son was having issues with his HTC One's SIM card. Data was sporadic, no LTE, and he would get no SIM card errors. We took it in to the Sprint repair center in the area and they first tried blowing out the SIM card slot but ended up putting in a new SIM card which fixed the problem.
Hopefully the person who looks at your phone is competent as we had to make a few trips as we were told at one point that we didn't even need a SIM card since we were not going Global - this older guy was wrong. We ended up having this young woman take a look at it and she swapped it out ASAP and we were good. I'm going on a bit but I was somewhat floored that their repair tech gave info that was just wrong. I've had to go back a few other times (for other reasons) and I avoid that dude at all costs (straight to the young woman).
Unfortuantely, on note 2 the sim card is not even accesible. Its buried/sealed inside, unless sprint techs have a way to access it.I am surprised this is such a low occuring issue, that no one in this forum has this.
Same thing
Same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago, i had to order a new card

The "techs" there are a joke. The only people who can REALLY help are devs who they probably keep locked away in a safe house abroad. There hasn't been a single time when a phone carrier tech was remotely helpful for me.
And the SIM is on the same module as the SD card. IIRC they can swap out this entire module. How will they replicate the same iccid onto the new one? No clue. If they replaced it and your issue was fixed though they did it somehow. Or else your authentications would be all messed up (meid> mdn>min>HDR AN>profile 0 and 1>iccid...probably more I'm forgetting)

Carrier name

Hey guys. Just a couple quick questions. I have the Optimus G Pro E-980 and I have it on the Straight Talk network. And my carrier name says "home" instead of "AT&T". I was wondering how I can get it to say AT&T instead of home. I just got my wife the Optimus G also on the ST network and her carrier says AT&T, not Home. Is this something with the phone itself or is it how ST provisions the sim card? If it is how the card is provisioned, can I have ST make it say AT&T? Both phones are AT&T branded.
I know most people would change their carrier name to something other than AT&T but to be honest, I would prefer that over it saying home. It just seems so Generic to say that....lol. By the way, this phone is not rooted or anything. I would like to root but I took the 10p update and don't feel like flashing it back and starting all over just to root it. I'll wait for a root method for the 10p. Thanks guys.
It looks like this just isn't possible. At least for this phone on the Straight Talk network anyway. I have tried everything. I tried using an xml editor, exposed, manual edits to the build.prop.....No go. I got it somehow to flash for a second with a different carrier name but it always went right back to "HOME". So unless someone else can figure this out I and other in my similar situation are stuck with this generic branding. We could always flash another Rom. But in my case, I kinda like the stock Rom.
EDIT: I talked to 3 different people at Straight Talk and they are what everyone says they are. More useless than tits on a bull!..They are telling me they cannot send me a new card even though I proved it's the sim card. I put my card in my wifes phone, you know, the one that does say AT&T? and her phone also said "HOME" with my sim card in it. So that clearly shows it's something in the sim card itself. But according to those morons my phone is working so there's nothing they can do about it. ST has pretty good service for the price. But their customer service is completely missing.
Any updates? I've tried GravityBox, G2 Exposed, and G2 Tweaksbox for this without success. The only thing either of those can do is shrink or remove, not change it like we all want...

Warning T-mobile is sending the wrong Sim size

So I got my phone today and noticed that T-mobile sent me micro sim instead of a nano sim. I went to the T-mobile store near my to get a replacement sim card. I don't know why but something told me not to deal with the rep I was in line waiting for, it seemed like everyone he dealt with ended up pissed. I didn't listen *first mistake* and stayed in line I got up to the guy and I told him what was going on. He just grabs the phone out of my hand and says maybe you're just sticking it in wrong. So he tries to jam a micro sim into a tray made for a nano sim and manages to get it in. I said what the hell are you doing I just told you it was the wrong sim size, then he was like well I guess you're right. When he tries to get the sim card out he can't, so he takes it to the back to "work on it" 20 minutes later he comes out with my phone in his hand, I'm thinking alright got my new sim and everything is good to go. Boy was I wrong, the first thing out of his mouth was "well we had a little problem" and shows me the sim slot. Well the good news is he managed to get the sim tray out, the bad news is the sim card was stuck inside and it looks like they damaged the pins trying to get it out. I was like you're kidding me right and asked to speak to a manger because I couldn't deal with him anymore. The manager offered to replace it so he goes into his system and then tells me he can't place the order because the phone hasn't released yet. He told me I have to come back Friday get one if they have it in stock. Now I have a 800 dollar paper weight mocking me
this may have been the time when I would have punch him in the face, just kidding but that's f**k up !!!

You have no idea how bad I wanted to. I spoke to T-mobile today and they seem to think that the phone uses a Micro Sim, even if I ignored the fact that the sim they sent doesn't even fit in the tray Samsung website and on their own webpage under the what's in the box says nano sim. I hope they get it figured out or they will have a lot of angry people calling them tomorrow.
I would of said "I just need a nano sim please" then come home and activate it at t-mobile.com/sim
Good news I went to another T-Mobile store and he was able to get the sim card out. The funny thing is that he said I was the 9th person that came in with this problem and the store only been open for 45 minutes. He said a batch of phones went out with micro sims instead of the multi sims *the ones with the 3 pull tabs to choose your size* One of the guys in line behind me said that one of the support guys on the phone told him he had to try to use the micro sim to confirm it's the wrong one before he could get a new one or he would be charged a fee.
Wow! Insanity. I would have... I don't even know. There would have been loud words.
I had a similar situation with a much less expensive item in a store recently where I just stood there and watched as the sales person proceeded to try to bash something together (I had pointed out it was bent and wouldn't fit right ) which of course cracked the thing I was about to buy.
I got a hefty discount to say the least.
If it had been something like a brand spanking new cell phone I hadn't even been able to use yet??
It would have been his head broken along with the sim tray.

Got 100 off my bill for my troubles, what's funny about the whole thing is that when I called phone support they wanted to charge me full price to send me a new phone. I asked the lady if she was smoking crack, keep in mind this is the same person that told me that the edge plus use a micro sim instead of nano sim. She had no clue what was going on I had to explain everything to her multiple times. I must say this is the first time I've ever had any issues with T-Mobile.
Wow 200 off the phone bill is quite massive. How did you persuade them to give you that compensation amount or did you demand it? I used to get 40 dollar credits here and there for 'outages' during the days of sidekick device aha

That's weird the Sim card I got was actually 3 Sim card sizes in one. It came assembled as a regular sized Sim but had punch outs to reduce the card to micro and nano sizes... I didn't use the new one considering I had been using the nano Sim from my M9 anyway.

I've noticed that in store as well when I needed a new one. That's actually a good move and saves money. However, TMO needs to explain the cards to the customer.
