This is a rather weird issue I've been having lately and I'm wondering if anyone else can replicate the issue.
When ever I am using the Bitstrips app (Yeah yeah I know) I completely and continuously lose my signal. It will drop to the circle with the line thru it.
As I scroll down and it tries to load the new images the signal will go completely out for about 2 seconds and then come back to LTE . The signal will stay up for a few seconds then it drops again. It keeps repeating the process seemingly indefinitely until I exit the app.
After I exit the app everything is good again.
Has anyone noticed the same issue or a similar issue with a different app?
I live in the Greer SC area and I am using a completely stock Tmobile note 3 with the latest kitkat Ota.

When I am using Private Internet Access, which is a vpn app I get constant disconnects, and reconnects. Never had an issue on 4.3.

I have been having random data "stoppage" on my GSM G-Nex since it first came out.
Data will suddenly stop. I can tell when all the bars turn grey and the "+" sign goes away or when I am listening to Pandora or XM/Sirius and it suddenly stops. This is in areas with solid 100% full signal coverage. It happens usually once a day at minimum and at random times.
I have tried numerous ICS roms & radios with the same results. Problem is, I usually don't notice it until long periods go between getting emails or someone asks me "did you get my email?". I check the phone and data is gone.
I have to reboot to get it back.
I know this issue has been around since the beginning of the G-Nex but I am wondering if there has been any actual fix for it either by a hack or from Samsung. It's really annoying. Has JB fixed it 100% or is it a hardware issue?
Search for an app called restart connections. That might be a simpler, if not very elegant, solution. You could schedule it to run every 30min.

I used to get data drops with 4.0.4.
After updating to JB I've yet to have one.

That's good news. I've had a couple JB ROMs (including stock) but there are 2 apps that don't work properly for me that I need. Hopefully that will be fixed soon and I will give JB a shot again. Frankly, I really didn't see too much in JB that made me want it "now" so I am in no rush to upgrade again until my apps are fixed.
Hmm, never had data drops, from 4.0.2 all the way to 4.1.1.
I actually have this problem every now and then. Hate it because sometimes it's when I need the Internet. Gonna give 4.1 a shot since aokp just came out with m1. Hopefully this helps.
Hi,
When im using my S2, there would be this annoying pop up saying "Connected to Wifi ..." like every few minutes to maybe an hour. I looked on Google for fixes but I could not find any. Than I noticed that right before it showed the pop up, the wifi bar was gone so I'm guessing that my wifi connection has been dropped?
So it keeps disconnecting and when it reconnects it has the pop up "Connected to Wifi Network ..."
Does anyone else have this problem? Its new so no need for a factory reset.
Its on the stock ICS update (4.0.3) and not rooted or anything.
A friend told me that my baseband could be corrupted, anyone know how to fix that?
Reflash a new radio.

I have the same issue and i have noticed it only happens at the same 2 places, so it leaves me to believe it is a router issue. At home all i did was unplug my modem and router for a couple of minutes, plugged them backed in and haven't had any more issues. But i would pay attention to were it is happening.

Same problem...
Hi I am also facing the very same issue with my gs2 when I switched to a new wifi router recently. I did not have any issues earlier. I tried some trials and noticed the following..
1. The problem exists with this particular router only.
2. there are other devices working normally in harmony with this router
3. The problem disappears and everything gets smooth and cool when one more device gets connected to the router(wonder how this happens)
4. Same issue with my galaxy tab
I have gs2 with ics 4.0.3
cisco dpc2320 cable modem with wifi router
Any ideas to solve this...???
Both my data and WiFi have been acting very strange the past week. Both services will show me as connected but I will only get the upload arrow showing on each indicator and then sometimes the icons just go gray. It has been happening very often and I have changed both my ROM and kernel on clean installs and I still have the same issue. Any help would be appreciated.
Bump. Still have the problem.
Flashing back to stock should work
Posting your basics usually gets you better answers

I started a thread here on a topic where my wifi and signal bars turn gray and the phone doesn't have data connectivity any more. sometimes this happens a dozen or more times a day and sometimes once or twice.
one response in that thread indicated that 4.2.2 made a positive impact on the problem.
I've been searching for a definite fix for this data/WiFi issue to no avail. I'm not entirely sure of when this issue began to occur but my phone (Toroplus) constantly loses WiFi signal. By losing signal I mean WiFi will turn off and on all by itself. And yes, WiFi sleep policy is set to stay on always. This issue alone made me go back to stock only to find the WiFi issue is present there too. I've also ruled out my router as the culprit. Im suspecting this is a Google issue. By the way, I talked to a sprint store employee who owned a galaxy nexus and after a few minutes of playing with his phone, which was completely stock and never rooted, I noticed his WiFi connection would turn off and on all by itself too. Any insight from anyone with knowledge to this would be appreciated.
Wi-Fi optimization off. If that does not fix it, I dunno.

Thanks for the suggestion but that doesn't fix it. Are you not having this issue? What's your setup? What ROM do you use? I've basically used all of them and it never goes away. I'm thinking of going to the HTC One when it's released just in case it's a Samsung issue.
I have also experienced this problem, especially at work where the network uses some WPA Enterprise variant. I've digged through logcats and can't find the problem either. A few Google Code forum posts talk about a possible bug introduced by network adapter manufacturers, or wpa_supplicant configuration issues. Haven't found a workaround yet, so I had to go back to 4.1.2, which seems to be stable.

The more I read on this subject the more I come to realize this is not specific to a certain device. The only common denominator that jumps out at me is jellybean. Seems like the issue is with Google, not hardware. Sucks that such a basic feature is not reliable out of the box. At least now I can understand why my buddy calls Android "buggy". Hopefully this is fixed sometime in the near future.
I have been having some connectivity issues and I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same thing. It will happen randomly during the day, where I will have full bars of 3g+ but yet when I try to use the browser or any other applications that uses the internet (instagram, FB, etc) nothing will load and eventually time out. Rebooting and turning off 3g/2g/mobile network and back on does nothing. Connectivity seems to come back whenever it feels like it. Ive talked to one of my other friend and she has also experience the same problems on her Note 2 and neither of us has reached the 5gb cap either. Are there any fixes for this?
Have you tried flashing a different ROM to see if that corrects the issue or going back to stock? maybe flashing a different modem my work

My phone seems to do this all too often on a daily basis. I check that I have no received emails, tweets, facebook notifications, etc. The problem is my data uplink arrow keeps flashing and it hangs there. This is usually remedied by putting my phone in Airplane mode and switching back it usually works but there have been times when I have empty bars with no data nothing, but it can be fixed by switching mobile network types from WCDA/GSM back to LTE. Anyway this can be fixed, or this actually a Kit Kat issue with the Note 3?
I'm on Stock Kit Kat Unrooted (unfortunately) because I updated before wanting to root and now I don't want to trip KNOX. I have also run a factory reset on my phone (through the bootloader) but it didn't fix the problem.
Is anybody else having this trouble with their Note 3?
I have this issue too. I'm rooted on Darthstalker v6. It happens daily. I just toggle airplane mode on and off and wait ten seconds. I've reinstalled this rom twice and the issue is still there. Hopefully someone can help.
Same issue here! Stock, unrooted. Must be a kit kat issue, I don't remember having it on jelly bean.
Anyone else with the same issue? Chime in

Yup.....been noticing this happen too.....was hoping it was a tower issue soon to be resolved....starting to not sound that way....blah
P.S just started happening (or me noticing it) in the last 2 or so weeks
It's a known bug in android 4.4.2. The new update 4.4.3 has a frequent data connection dropout fix in the change log. Hopefully we get some leak or something for it soon. Now that the s5 is out.

I didn't notice the data drop out until I tried a KitKat rom. When I restored back to the jellybean rom I was using the data drop out continued. So I ended up wiping and flashing the same jellybean rom and still notice the data drop outs.

I have the same issue from the last 4.4.2 update, when the phone is in standby for long time the data connection drop out, or time in time the phone scan the network and some time back to normal after some second or keep scanning and need reboot. when I check the network mode I found all option unselected, I select lte mode and the phone do not respond and have to reboot. I reinstalled 4.4.2 with kie and Odin but same issue . Samsung representative told me that the issue is from T-Mobile , that the phone is ok, and T-Mobile told me that the issue coming with the update from Samsung and affected to note 3 and s4. Who has the fault? my temporal free solution until the next update was replace the sim card in the T-Mobile store. I did yesterday and until now the phone have been ok with the data connection up all time. when it scan the network back to normal with not data drop out.
Last thing, go to wifi - advance option and I put disable (keep wifi on during sleep) and (always allow scanning) maybe these can avoid the scan the network time to time.
