Hi,
When im using my S2, there would be this annoying pop up saying "Connected to Wifi ..." like every few minutes to maybe an hour. I looked on Google for fixes but I could not find any. Than I noticed that right before it showed the pop up, the wifi bar was gone so I'm guessing that my wifi connection has been dropped?
So it keeps disconnecting and when it reconnects it has the pop up "Connected to Wifi Network ..."
Does anyone else have this problem? Its new so no need for a factory reset.
Its on the stock ICS update (4.0.3) and not rooted or anything.
A friend told me that my baseband could be corrupted, anyone know how to fix that?
Reflash a new radio.

I have the same issue and i have noticed it only happens at the same 2 places, so it leaves me to believe it is a router issue. At home all i did was unplug my modem and router for a couple of minutes, plugged them backed in and haven't had any more issues. But i would pay attention to were it is happening.

Same problem...
Hi I am also facing the very same issue with my gs2 when I switched to a new wifi router recently. I did not have any issues earlier. I tried some trials and noticed the following..
1. The problem exists with this particular router only.
2. there are other devices working normally in harmony with this router
3. The problem disappears and everything gets smooth and cool when one more device gets connected to the router(wonder how this happens)
4. Same issue with my galaxy tab
I have gs2 with ics 4.0.3
cisco dpc2320 cable modem with wifi router
Any ideas to solve this...???

Hello all! I was just wondering if anyone is having a very particular issue with their WiFi on the GNex... more specifically with any phone running ICS. I seem to be unable to connect to any WiFi network that has non-standard characters in it- punctuation marks or letters with accents. My old phone (Samsung Captivate) connected just fine to my home network, which has an é and a ! in the name. Before I got my GNex, I was running an ICS rom on my Captivate, and realized I couldn't connect to my home network anymore. I figured it was a glitch with the rom as others were reporting WiFi issues.
Then, I went to work and connected to the WiFi just fine, then to a relative's house, then to a few other friends- they all connected just fine. I'm having the same issue with my GNex. Connects fine to most networks, just not the ones that have strange characters. I can input my WiFi password, but it just sits there at "saved" and the signal drops from "excellent" to "poor." Given that this same bug happened with my Captivate, I am assuming this is a software bug.
Just looking for others with this problem (and maybe a fix)!
Could be if the drivers for other non official ICS phones. But with the gnrx its a known issue.

Hmm. So is it hardware or software? Any hope of it being repaired, or do I have to change the WiFi name of my home network?
nothing with ur router bro. This is either a hw or sw issue. And I'm desperately praying for it to be software
P.s on my 3rd gnex and has the same issue as the other two

What a strange bug. I wonder how something like that even happens. Has anyone reported this bug to Google/Verizon? Does the GSM version have the same bug?
This started happening to me couple days ago. My phone is connected to wifi at home, and whenever I want to use my phone after its been in idle, everything looks normal. The wifi signal is there, but there is no data, I cannot check email, browse internet, anything with data. Only way to fix it is to reboot or turn wifi off and then back on. Everything is fine when I'm on 3g, there are none of these issues. I am on Calk 2.7 (not 2.8) with the latest kernal, EL28 (I think thats the latest).
If I have an app running in the back that is constantly using data (google music) (recall, ONLY on wifi, NOT 3G), the app stops working whenever the phone goes into idle, I guess. Basically leaving a data consuming app ruining in the background did not help the issue.
I have tried searching, and some other people have experienced the issue on different devices (NOT epic touch), but no threads offer any solution(s).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had this issue on my previous epic touch and I took it back and exchanged for another one and the one I have now doesn't do it. It had the same problem u describe. Might want to check your router first though since it just started. Mine always did it and it did it on other Wifi networks. Good luck.

I've seen this happen on four different E4GTs. It seems random and only occasional. I've seen it on EG30 and EK02 stock, I haven't tried other "modems" or roms yet. I'm not sure what causes it, but a quick wifi toggle seems to fix it. Seems like the wifi radio just sort of "freezes. " Wifi sleep policy set to never, doesn't seem to make a difference. Minor annoyance.

What baseband are your running? Have you tired another baseband?
I didn't think the modem has anything to do with wifi. I have this issue on certain wifi networks I use. I have made tweaks to see if it is security settings or what but haven't figured out a pattern yet. I use a wifi widget and it looks like DHCP hangs up cuz it won't give it an IP. I reboot the wifi router and it works right after evertime. I will sometimes powercycle wifi on the phone and it will work. I really think it is a wifi router setting for the network but not sure which yet.
hi
since yesterday i'm having problems with my wifi connection, every time i turn on the wifi on the phone he checks for connections and for 1 second he can see my wireless network but then i can't connect to them, i tried connect to other networks but the same thing happens, i tried another rom (i'm using miui 2.3 and tried cm9)and the problem continues.
sometimes i can successfully connect to my network but in 5 minutes the connection is lost again.
I had this same thing happen on my phone a little more than a year ago. I tried everything but it didn't fix anything. I had to send it in and get a replacement.
if i change the radio would this do anything?
have you tried a full wipe. I've got this problem at the moment.
I figure either a full wipe will fix it. I can't do this at the moment because there are too many numbers in the phone
Or
The wireless antenna got disconnected when my gf dropped it

i already did a full wipe and installed another rom
the only thing i didn't tried was another radio
I know there has been a lot of wifi issues with sgn2, most of them already sorted, but this one is different. Wifi was working fine for me but yesterday when I tried to tether the wifi connection via bluetooth to my PC, wifi got disconnected. Reconnects after a minute or two but then it gets disconnected again. Later when I manually tried to connect wifi, bluetooth tethering stopped and it wouldn't start back. Had to reboot. This happens every time. Was working fine the day before yesterday when I figured this could actually be done. I'm on GT-N7100 non rooted stock ROM 4.1.2 build MA6. Anyone else facing the issue? Please check and reply

Both my data and WiFi have been acting very strange the past week. Both services will show me as connected but I will only get the upload arrow showing on each indicator and then sometimes the icons just go gray. It has been happening very often and I have changed both my ROM and kernel on clean installs and I still have the same issue. Any help would be appreciated.
Bump. Still have the problem.
Flashing back to stock should work

I started a thread here on a topic where my wifi and signal bars turn gray and the phone doesn't have data connectivity any more. sometimes this happens a dozen or more times a day and sometimes once or twice.
one response in that thread indicated that 4.2.2 made a positive impact on the problem.
I've been searching for a definite fix for this data/WiFi issue to no avail. I'm not entirely sure of when this issue began to occur but my phone (Toroplus) constantly loses WiFi signal. By losing signal I mean WiFi will turn off and on all by itself. And yes, WiFi sleep policy is set to stay on always. This issue alone made me go back to stock only to find the WiFi issue is present there too. I've also ruled out my router as the culprit. Im suspecting this is a Google issue. By the way, I talked to a sprint store employee who owned a galaxy nexus and after a few minutes of playing with his phone, which was completely stock and never rooted, I noticed his WiFi connection would turn off and on all by itself too. Any insight from anyone with knowledge to this would be appreciated.
Wi-Fi optimization off. If that does not fix it, I dunno.

Thanks for the suggestion but that doesn't fix it. Are you not having this issue? What's your setup? What ROM do you use? I've basically used all of them and it never goes away. I'm thinking of going to the HTC One when it's released just in case it's a Samsung issue.
I have also experienced this problem, especially at work where the network uses some WPA Enterprise variant. I've digged through logcats and can't find the problem either. A few Google Code forum posts talk about a possible bug introduced by network adapter manufacturers, or wpa_supplicant configuration issues. Haven't found a workaround yet, so I had to go back to 4.1.2, which seems to be stable.

The more I read on this subject the more I come to realize this is not specific to a certain device. The only common denominator that jumps out at me is jellybean. Seems like the issue is with Google, not hardware. Sucks that such a basic feature is not reliable out of the box. At least now I can understand why my buddy calls Android "buggy". Hopefully this is fixed sometime in the near future.
