need old cwm recovery by doomlord. Please Help - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all.
I have a request. I need a copy of a recovery which is now not available. ([Kindle Fire] CWM-Based Touch Edition Recovery 5.0.2.7 by TeamUtterChaos (v01-FINAL))
I have contacted the dev DooMLord who put it together but he has deleted it. if anyone has a copy i would be very happy.
I had a emmc damaged kindle. HashCode has managed to sort out the corruption and now i have bootloader and twrp recovery.
my problem is now i dont have adb to put anything on it. I know that before i got the partitions sorted I had doomlords cwmr and it was the only recovery that gave me adb and shell. please check your old files and see if you can find a copy.
the thread for the said recovery by doomlord is Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1454241
Thanks Steve
Handy. mmm SOLVED THANKS

ok i sorted it. only twrp 2.3.3.0 and below works. something to do with pid. hence why the old cwmr must have worked. thanks anyway as i see lots of people have looked.
cheers steve

i have an unusual problem...

hey!
i have a problem with my recovery and for some reason no1 roms that worked before can be installed, they all get aborted except cyanogen 6, but that installs an has tons of bugs in it, i have no idea how to fix this.... wen i get cyanogen booted up, i thought i would try rom manager but it says my phone isnt rooted and that superuser wont work at all!
all this accured wen i tried to edit the MTD partitions, everythin was fine before i tired that, i did wat it instructed, an after that the recovery is busted, i have tried to fake flash roms, i tried revoked to flash a new recovery and wont work, i dunno how i could fix it, not sure how to install it via fastboot.
i've been tryna fix this for about 2 hours now and any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Check my post in the mtd partitions thread, it will solve all your issues

If you cant run it, because you cant boot into android, extract the .zip and copy it to the root of your sd card, then boot into bootloader and it should let you flash it from there ....

[Tool] Flashable Zip Recoveries

This is for those times when you want to change your recovery but don't have access to a desktop. You need to already have a custom recovery installed otherwise you can't flash the zip (duh!).
Here are some common recoveries in flashable form:
Stock_Optimus_V_Recovery.zip
aospCWMod-VM670-20110531_Recovery.zip
CWM_3.0.2.4_Recovery.zip
Thunderc-v-1.2.0-GNM_Recovery.zip
Xionia_CWMA_12518.4_VM_Recovery.zip
Xionia_CWMA_12518.4_Recovery.zip (Optimus S)
Xionia_CWMA_12518.6_Recovery.zip (Optimus S)
You don't need to do anything special for these. Flash them and your recovery will be changed.
If you want to flash a recovery not listed above using your current recovery, use the following directions:
Make sure your recovery image is not corrupt before using this.
Rename your recovery of choice to vrecovery.img
Place vrecovery.img in the root of your micro SD card
Place Flash_vrecovery.zip anywhere on the micro SD card
Reboot into your custom recovery and flash the zip
Enjoy!
This is fantastic! Thank you.
Wicked Love it! Thanks Dude
is there a way to flash a custom recovery from the stock recovery, my brother flashed the wrong clockwork on his optimus v and now we can't install roms and it currently doesn't have a rom on it. I managed somehow to get the original recovery on the device and I can get adb to connect to it and windows to recognise the device. any ideas?
thanks xda thanks my optimos was brick n now its work is a life thanks ..im use this Stock_Optimus_V_Recovery.zip
aospCWMod-VM670-20110531_Recovery.zip grasias grasiasssssssssssssssss
Not sure if you're comfortable adding it to the list yet, but the latest recovery used with ROM Manager, ClockworkMod 3.2xx (not sure of the final digits), does work on the Optimus V now, thanks to koush.

Is there an easy was to download the img? Can you link me? It's really simple to add it, but isn't this counter to the whole idea of rom manager?

I believe (never installed the thing though) than newer editions of cwm use the camera button to select.

I use the AOSP ROM (dead rom). For some reason, all the IHO ROMS keep rebooting me after installing all my apps. I also use the Xionia recovery and the Xionia 010-anykernel kernel. With that kernel though, your home key and menu key will be switched, but well worth it.

I use the asopCWMod recovery v3.0.2.4 I have the same problem with all the IHO builds, but I found that if I wait till just when all the apps have loaded and all the app icons are visable, then hit a lock screen widget and turn the screen off(wait 5min). When I turn the screen on and unlock everything works great.
I have to do this with every reboot, but it works.

Anyone have this recovery?
Sorry to bring up an old thread, but all the links for the recoveries in the first post are dead.
Would anyone happen to have Xionia_CWMA_12518.4_VM_Recovery.zip?
I have the .img version of it, but I'm not familiar with adb.
If anyone could help, I'd greatly appreciate it.

that's a lot of formatting in your post ;p
on the quick side:
so, my kitkat rom thread and twrp (both in my signature) still have live links to Google drive.
but...
kitkat pretty much requires setting up a sacrificial sd card with that twrp, which you can't remove from the phone. higher speed is better for the card.
that twrp has a kernel which reverses system and userdata, so even if you put it in internal mode, you have to modify updater-scripts to swap all mentions of system and userdata for it to work. with anything I didn't build, like anything pre-kitkat.
I have harmonia (important to set up the phone for activation) but if it's like my Evo 3d, you'll have to manually set the date back to 2019 or whenever the security certificate expired to get the activation app too connect or it'll just error out.
I also have a zip of harmonia I "fixed" to work with that twrp.
somewhere I also have bobzhome GB. and I think a reversed zip of that too.
I might even have older custom recoveries.
if you search around Google you might find the bobzhome rom stashed away downloadable, I was still able to grab it within the last year.
after a while I'll dig and upload stuff to my gdrive.
it sucks that Android file host deleted all my OV files though. I had a lot there.

Hey hey hey yuyuyuyu1 why not thank cricketAC he gave you the same answer as LoopDogg... that aint right! His answer is 100% correct only thing he did not do is hold your hand with a link. No disrespect to LoopDogg at all.
A little research and reading and in any recovery thread would of given you the answer and too me its so much more gratifying when you figure stuff out for yourself and honestly going from one recovery to another is as simple if not simpler than flashing a rom. Remember though you can not restore from another recovery...

I'm planning to replace CWR with TWRP and ROM Manager with GooManager. After I install GooManager and TWRP, will I need to manually delete the backups made by CWR (blobs etc.)?
Yes, if you want space on your internal storage (or wherever you're storing them). Better off deleting them because they're not compatible anyways.
Just delete the clockwork folder in your internal storage or SD card.
So is Twrp actually the better recovery to use as apposed to cwm?
I've personally found TWRP to be more consistent than CWM's touch interface... (use it on ~ 3 devices a this point... T989, T999, and hp touchpad..)
Works pretty well...

It's all up to preference honestly. I haven't had any issues with all the available recoveries but I prefer CWM 5.0.2.7 because of the Darkside scripts. (They were made specifically for CWM 5.0.2.7, but also work with TWRP last time I checked.) Never had an issue with the recovery and all the ROMs I've flashed have all worked perfectly well.

Good advice re: deleting CWM
I tried to flash a CWM recovery (not realizing it was a CWM recovery) with TWRP, and it was a mess.
I agree re: figuring it out for yourself. (I de-bricked my KF2 yesterday, thanks to a Xubuntu - Adb tutorial.)

[Q] Can't remove CWM!

Hello everybody.
I installed cm11 via cyanogenmod installer. When I was done with installing it, I installed Rom Manager application. The application then offered to install CWM Recovery, so I agreed to do so since I am more accustomed to it than TWRP.
Was working, until I the phone told me I had a new update.
The update downloads, and tries to install, but nothing happens ( or happens wrong so it just aborts), and I am left with the "there is an update for your phone".
So I figured out I might do it manually, so I went to Rom Manager and set TWRP to be default, and went to recovery.... and there was CWM.
I tried GooManager, TWRP Manager, all still reboot into CWM not TWRP.
I then tried CWM and it worked flashing the latest snapshot, but it had a serious bug, so I restored to the previous snapshot. ( Can't how that is relevant to the subject).
I really would like to install the TWRP and remove CWM. My question is: How do I remove CWM and install TWRP.
Thanks.
Just learn fastboot and manually flash TWRP image. If nothing goes wrong, TWRP will overwrite CWM as your only recovery.

I did as u said, but now I can't boot into recovery, and when in fastboot menu, it says I have no boot or recovery image.
But I can load into cm normally.
However what's weird is that it said the product code name was tuna, which is wrong, it should be maguro.
Any thoughts??

Tuna is your phone. Tuna is Toro, Toro+ and maguro.. As said before learn how to use fastboot and flash it via fastboot. Plenty of guides.. Its really easy.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Premium HD app
Yea at this point you may need to use fastboot. If multiple tries of above haven't worked.
As said, it's REALLY easy.
You can use fastboot to clear recovery partition in case something is corrupted in it. And can just do a fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (where recovery.img is the path to recovery.img file you are installing. If you are cd'd into folder where recovery.img is located you can just use the name of the img file instead of the full path name to it.... it might sound confusing, but there are step by step fool proof guides to follow. And after you've done it once you'll be like "dang what was I worried about, this fastboot and adb stuff is easy" lol...)
Let us know if you need any clarification on the process
Thanks guys, but I have been really busy lately I couldn't learn fastboot, but I think I know how, since my first root was manual using such a command prompt.
I'll reply once I do it and report.

much easier to help out with steps beforehand, rather than try to figure out where something went wrong afterwards
Hello
I managed to flash TWRP successfully and then tried to install cm update from the system update available.
However there was an error and it didn't work.
Here is the recovery log, it said something about not finding an md5.
Any thoughts as to what is happening here?

Twrp help please

I'm stuck. I'm trying to root and install twrp recovery thru Odin. I have everything downloaded except twrp.. When I download twrp my computer asks if I want to open with winzip. I click yes then winzip has a message saying it is an unsupported archive. I'm downloading twrp 2.8.7 4.4.img.tar. I need help with this. How do I download twrp and get it so I can put it in Odin? I have searched all day for answer. Please help
I forgot to say I'm on t mobile Galaxy Note 3 5.0
Just save the the file as is. Why are you opening it in Winzip? Doesn't sound like you know enough to flash your phone. Please google how to odin twrp before you do it. Read it twice.
I got it. I came from Verizon where had locked bootloader and had to use safestrap. Never used custom recovery. For some reason the first time I saved the file, I couldn't get Odin to open it. I'm now rooted with custom rom.

Here easiest way
Install these apps from store
Twrp manager
Flashify
Download the twrp install via either then flash with Flashify . All other apps failed Installing twrp except flashify can download cwm twrp and Philz via flashify then backup kernel or recovery. Using SD card(simple fix to bootloop issues sometimes) flash the file you downloaded from it not phone. Should reboot after and hold down power home and vol+. Boot into recovery and back up everything. Should have already done this before you did custom rom. Incase partitions decided to corrupt lol note and galaxy tend to have a issue with partitions corrupting.
Subscribed to thread so need detailed guide that easy I got u. As well as files to use.
Thank you. I did backup everything. I always do. I appreciate your time and help. I know I will have other questions in the future, if you don't mind, it would be nice to know there is someone who can help if I get stuck.
