[Q] Update of recovery did not work - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

TOTAL NOOB HERE. So forgive me if I don't know the correct terminology and such.
I was in the process of updating my ROM from 4.1.2 to 4.3
The ROM stated that I needed to be running TWRP version 2.6.3.0 or 2.6.3.1. I checked on my phone and I have 2.5.0.0 installed. So I followed the link the ROM post and downloaded TWPR 2.6.3.1, and moved it to my SD card. I then did a nandroid backup and then flashed the VIP file for the recovery. Now when I try to boot into recovery I end up in a boot loop. I can boot the phone into the ROM just fine. Any suggestions as to what might have happened, or how I reinstall a recovery without having access to a recovery?
Thanks
Eagle

Download goo manager from the play store, open it, hit settings, then install open recovery script.

Downgrading of CWM ?

Hi,
I have installed ClockworkMOD v3 recently. I heard that I cannot flash radio directly trough it, so I thought about downgrading to CWM v2.5. Can it be done? Is it like normal installing of CWM or there are some additional steps?
And yes, I have S-Offed my phone with AlphaRevX and rooted following this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130044
Just in case that it is needed to mention.
It isn't needed to flash an older version.
Go into ROM manager and hit Flash Recovery, it will be version 2.5.0.7, and then boot into it from the app.
Booting normally into recovery will enter whatever version you flashed, but if you boot from ROM manager it will be temporarily 2.5.0.7.

Recovery Proble?

My phone is s-off and rooted but I can't install the CWM Recovery.
I tried many things but no luck yet. I did flash the other RUU file but same result.
I can go to the recovery screen but after press the ercovery. It go to the blue text CWM Recovery screen.
Looks like an old CWM Recovery I think. It doesn't flash any zip file.
How do I install the CWM Recovery?

open play store(android market) and find app named "GooManager" okay.then installed it.
now open Goomanger and you will see option named "install openrecovery script".
click on that.that will download twrp recovery and flash itself.
procedure is same as you installed previous recovery via rom manager.this time you ll install different recovery.and yeah TWRP recovery is touch recovery so now you dont need to use volume and power key to select items

How do I uninstall TWRP?

I installed TWRPrecovery using GooManager and now I want to uninstall it to use the CWM Recovery - how do I uninstall it? I uninstalled GooManager but the TWRP Recovery is still there.

You would have to install CWM over it. Although, there's no reason to use CWM over TWRP. Imo, TWRP is much better too!
I think if you use goo manager or rom manager to install CWM, it will overwrite/replace TWRP.
After that, if you want to get rid of your TWRP backups, just use file manager to delete the TWRP folder from your phones sd card.
That's what I've been doing to switch between recoveries. But I've found I really like TWRP, so I haven't done it in a while.

[Q] Flashing CWM Recovery using Mobile Odin

Hey XDA,
I have a rooted S3 AT&T running stock rom with no recovery. I would like to install CWM Recovery, however I noticed it was an .img file, and Odin can only flash .tar files. So is it possible to use MobileODIN to flash cwm recovery or am I stuck to using the adb code to flash it. I have tried using CWM Rom manager app to flash/install cwm recovery however it is giving me an error ("Error downloading CWM Recovery) whenever I try to download the cwm recovery image from within the app. So will the mobile odin method work???
Thanks in advance XDA!!
Hi, another alternative is to use an app called "Flashify" off the Play Store,
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cgollner.flashify
You can use this to flash recovery images and it has some useful tools, too. I have not used it before, so I can't recommend from experience but it has great reviews off the Play Store. As for the recovery images, you can use this link, find your device and download the latest version of CWM
http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
Again this is all information, and I am in no way, shape, or form responsible for anything and everything that may/may not happen to your device. Hope this helps!

Latest TWRP Tar File

Im looking for preferably the latest TWRP in Tar format so I can load it with Odin. I currently have CWM but would rather have TWRP.
I tried GooManager but keep getting the "webpage not found error". I tried Recovery Tools but didn't have success.I tried ROM Manager but it
keeps loading CWM. Still noobish so flashing with terminal emulator is foreign territory. Please help.

Here are the download links for the d2att recoveries straight from TWRP's site.
FYI, GooManager installs TWRP and ROM Manager installs CWM. Also, the latest official TWRP recovery won't flash 4.4 ROMs, CWM on the other hand can.
Here's the link to the Unofficial TWRP 2.6.3.1 which supports 4.4 ROMs. It's a zip file that can only be flashed through a recovery though.
Thanks for the reply and information. For some reason I just like TWRP and coupled with the fact that I am stuck makes me want it more.
Whenever i download the tar file under that link, it extracts to a img file. What am I doing wrong?
Edit: Got it working, I used flashify from play store and flashed latest TWRP image file in less than 5 seconds.
On to the next adventure.

Your welcome, I'm glad that everything worked out for you.
Also, you're not supposed to extract the tar file, it's meant to be flashed though Odin. The img file is meant to be installed via the terminal emulator.
