[Q] Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 Rootbox - Galaxy Ace II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Yesterday I installed Vanilla RootBox yesterday and in my opinion it is the best custom rom I know. I know there are other roms such as cyanogenmod, P.A.C, BeanStalk and etc but I don't really have any problems with this rom. I like to upload videos on Instagram and the 4.4 roms won't allow me to. Anywhore I'd like to swap the internal and external memory on this rom but I don't know how to. I used Modified_Vold.fstab through root explorer/system/etc << pasted it into that, rebooted my phone and my sd card wouldn't show up on my phone. I managed to fix it but I really want to swap memories also the battery drains quick on this rom, I uninstalled bloatware apps but yet it goes down quick. Need help with those 2 so............................. HELP PLEASE =)

First reflash vanilla rootbox, then Download swap.zip from cm10.2 thread and flash to swap storages.
For battery-
Set governors and the rest is up to you to configure

[Q] Few questions ROM and Functions

Hi guys I am proud new owner of ATT SGS3 and I simply amazed of ability of this device and with that I am really glad to have this forum because there are some questions I have that I need some answers if possible.
I tried several JB ROMs and I really like them however because of some little things there and there I can't say I can use them as everyday ROM therefor is there a ROM that stock but all ATT crap removed and may be some tweaks in file system added ? I did try to remove ATT bloatware myself after root but I could not. So that first question. Now second one is this. Is there a way to move or store to begin with main data from games on external SD card ? Because my 16GB of internal almost full and my external is empty.
Thank you.
Anyone ? At list on Stock minus ATT crap ROM any advice ?
Just try the roms that look good to you...its all personal preference....look through the dev thread for your needs

it has ROM's nicely organized!
I personally enjoyed using the Ariel ROM and the Kyan ROM both of them are really nice!

[Q] Best JB Rom for 1st custom rom installation

Hi,
Due to annoying low memory issue of the Stock ROM, I am planning to update my desire to custom ROM, and thinking to put a JB rom. So far I have searched and looked through CM10 JB and AOKP JB. can someone point out what is the difference between these two and also if there is any other suggestions for the best stable JB rom that I can install as my first custom ROM.
Also i hope these roms support using the SD-ext / SD card to profile large memory size for installing applications, so I don't run into low memory issues often which is the case now with STOCK ROM.
I've currently rooted the device with CWM recovery, S-ON and stock Hboot .
On sd-card partition, what is the recommended sd-ext size to go for, 1/1.5GB , and why it can't be set to 2G or above, any specific reason. In one of the thread I have read the sd-ext partition size is also linked with internal memory , can someone please explain that.
Thank you for your support.

Those three words don't mingle together.
As you don't seem too tech savvy, and this is your first time with custom rom, I suggest you look further.

Hi,
as far as i know there still not exist a bugfree JB rom for our device [Desire].
You can try a Gb rom. The best one is very relative term. For me the the best one is Cronmod with very good battery life (daily normal use up to 2 days.) huge internal memory (INTEXT+ 1Gb) fast and smoot and so on...
good luck.
Hello!
I use this custom rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1945441
It's very smooth and looks stable + have built in a2sd script + very good support + up do date!
Try it if you want!
You'll be a little disappointed, because JB ROMs tend to be as large as stock HTC Sense, and you will run into space issues even when using some apps-to-sdext scheme.
the only stable JB rom is qiss me rom : http://tw.qiss.mobi/download_software.php?mod=en
others have stability issues mainly with camera and video and not very stable to be used as daily rom
MIUI JB
I can recommend MIUI JB: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1850436
On storage: several apps installed (no games) and 150 MB free (out of 500). 2.91 GB free on USB storage. With A2SD storage should not be an issue.
Very stable and fast (certainly compared to ICS). I don't install Facebook as it seems to slow down all the other apps. Therefore I have installed Facebook Lite, loads very quickly!
I have an issue with mobile data (to be clear: not WiFi) but this can be due to my provider (Belgium).

[Q] Which CM is best for Wildfire S ??

I have had rooted my device, Now i just want to select CM. which CM is more stable on wildfire S Cm 9.1 or Cm 10 ?
And if i partition the card with ROM manager app ,is it safe will it delete my data from the card ?
I haven't tried any other CM but CM10, so I cannot tell you wether it's more stable than CM7 or CM9, but I can tell you that it is fully satisfying! It's smoother thand the original sense 2.5 rom on your WFS and most problems that occured with CM10 are solved or are being solved thanks to the devs... So I would go for the latest CM, which is CM10...
I tested modpunk's CM10 Alpha 2 and ParanoidAndroid 2.54 JB and Jelly King 1.2 and I have to say that Jelly King is probably the best Rom I have ever used! Go for it!
Odp: [Q] Which CM is best for Wildfire S ??
I flashed Jelly King and I must say it's very good rom. Fast, smooth etc.
But in my case voice search and other voice service doesn't work. I don't know why is that Rom fault or gapps.
Jerry
Thanks

Thankx man
Since buying my wfs I stayed on stock only for a little bit. So for over a year I've been using various cm and cm- based roms.
Right now I've found cm10 builds to be somewhat snappier. Cm9 based roms a little more stable imho. (Still, the most stable for me have been cm7 based roms.)
To your second question now, if you're going to be partitioning your SD, do take the time to backup first, definitely.

[Q] So I rooted my phone, now what?

Hello again guys,
I sucessfully rooted my phone but now I have a problem. I have read through alot of forums and sites and I guess the next logical step is to get a new rom and kernel. Now I have done alot of reading about all this but I'm getting quite confused between the pair. From my understanding the kernel controls all the complex stuff like making your phone run faster/slower and increasing/decreasing battery life.... I'm stumped at what a rom is,it's like, the operating system but custom ones are more streamlined?
So what I'm asking for is a little information and some suggestions of what I should put onto my phone, I read something about a smartassv2 which is supposed to keep the phone more balanced, now im sure if it is a kernel or a governor?
Any help would be apprciated.
Have you put cwm or different recovery on your phone yet. Also do you have the CDMA or gsm version

Yeah, the utility I used to root it also installed cwm, I checked it out and did a backup which should be on my SD card now.
beleive it's gsm, it has a sim card and is on T-mobile.
Ive just installed link2sd and partitioned my sd card, was able to move over a game that I couldnt originally get over to the sd card, saving a bit of space.
Also with link2sd I was able to delete preinstalled bloat like twitter, friendstream, news, weather, stocks, etc.
So far a good day

smartassv2 is governer you can use cfq scheduler with it.
about suggestions:
after rooting you have two options:
use cyanogenmod roms:
cm9.1/cm10
(original modpunk cm9.1 ,speed droid,jelly king,miui etc)
use stock sense roms:
(wildchild etc,sense 3.5 etc)
these all are main roms after there are many variations like pacman rom, aokp build cm9 but they are not much stable at this time so.

Sorry to be a pain can you give me a little info about the listed roms? You put cm9.1/cm10 then the others in brackets, are they just like the same roms but with slight differences or is cynaogenmod a kinda name for those type of roms?
EDIT: Just looked up CyanogenMod.org, doesnt show that it supports HTC Wildfire S.

official cyanogenmod isn't support wildfire s.so dev made here unofficial cynogenmod which support cm9.1 and cm10 with some bugs.
that is jelly king cm10 based :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2075272
that is speed droid cm9.1 and cm10 based:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867712
this is original modpunk cm9.1 rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633198
note:
cm=cyanogenmod
cm9.1 aka ICS 4.0.4
cm10 aka JB 4.1.2
ps there are many other roms based on cm10 like pacman, miui and also slimroms ,paranoid(its tablet ui rom you can change dpi of any app widget its benefit of this rom)
but i havent tried them but you can.
Personal oppinion
When I rooted my wildfire s I was exactly like you. I started wondering what I should do or where I could find it.
After testing a few roms I will tell you what worked for me: Test different roms till you find the one that suits you.
Anyway, I'll tell you my advice:
- WildJOY joyOS First rom I tested. No bugs found.
- Modpunk's CM10 As far as I've read the rom every one uses as the base for their own ones.
- JellyKing This is the one I'm using right now. Active development and really smooth.
Jelly King V2.0
I flashed my phone with Jelly King V2.0 4 days back. Its working very smoothly.
You get 69 MB of internal space to install things.
Panorma mode in camera etc. Try it. you'll love it.
one Q: shall i flash the Kernel v2.1 with jelly king v2.o!! everything seems working fine without the kernal

I have that rom without that kernel and the only bug I've found for the moment is the 3G connection one. However Kantry123 is working hard on it.

I was v.happy with v1.3 dedoxed i had no problem with it till yesterday started to have problem with viber ''NO SOUND'' , skype signing out when i try to make a skype phone call.. i tried to many things re-flashing the Room without wiping data factory sittings No backup lool so today i flashed the V2.0 with full wipe but its kinda lagy!! not smooth like the older one !! Kantry 123 made amazing job i really appreciate his hard work :good:
I don't find it that laggy as you say. Maybe it's because i don't spect too much from my little device. If i were you i'd try the kernel to test if it goes smoother or not.

[Q]Help with Storage Swap with AOSP Roms

Hello Guys,
I'm really done and disappointed of my 1000 trial to swap internal and external storage on CM10.1 and CM10.2
Here's how it goes:
I install any rom like Slimbean CM10.1 , Then I install the GS3_4.2.2_leak_fat32 script and I get nothing.
I tried many other scripts, I tried some other kernels but no use. Each time I get one of the following results:
- No change at all
- Settings (storage) keep giving me "calculating" and no apps work at all
- Settings keep crashing
Then I go back to my backup rom which is 4.1.2 sammy rooted rom with Perseus Kernel.
Please if any of you has already done this tell me please:
1- which rom
2- which kernel (built in with rom or another one)
3- the exact script did that
Thanks in advance
