So, i have a question about Ram "usage". Like everybody i have 2gbs of ram, but my task manager only sees 1689mb of it. Is this normal? Or like on integrated video card in computer, ram shares memory with the video chip?
BB
This is normal as some ram is reserved for system usage so dont worry about it

Hello and first i have to say, great forum!
Now to my question. Is it possible to create a swap file or partition (like swapper, or???) for my/our galaxy? Then we didn't have the low ram problem !?!
(like my old htc magic )

there is no low ram problem in actual kernels...
Yes, you mean the kernels with 340mb ram. But i mean ram like galaxy tab ob more. ;-)

Swap does no good for this device, as soon as it starts to swap it gets inresponsive because the sdcard is way to slow except maybe you have a class 16 card which for me is out of reach in terms of price...
Do Galaxy Tab appz use much more RAM? Because with a lot of widgets and synch apps I've never ever filled the 304 (now 340) megabytes of RAM to justify the swap...
Every app I've used to monitor RAM such as setcpu, android system info, and the app manager in settings show that the phone has a max of about 700 MB of RAM. Is 300 used for the GPU or what? Samsung did that with the original GS stating it had 512MB of RAM but 128 was used for the GPU and it only had about 250 available.

Many have asked the same question. I believe people had said that the android OS reserved 300MB.
Try installing a custom rom.

The rest is reserved for system (not GPU).
Please Pardon My English is not very good:victory::victory:
Why xda developers forum cm10.1 kernel support less and less RAM can expand the point is at least as big as you like cm7.2.
I also tried to swap the sd card but the device becomes unstable
It's because the missing RAM is allocated to the camera.
Missing ram is using as a swap memory (memory used for linux temporary files) and other applications to mAke it faster. As for the unstablity files of android 4 is not properly configured for the device

why my su640 has 768mb RAM & 1.8gb storage?
rest specs are same as other su640
only Ram & internal storage is less, while my Nexus 7 & Galaxy Ace show same RAM & Memory as on GSMArena states

Its still 1gb & 2gb, the differences are for system memory addresses. Think of it this way: you have a computer with 4gb of RAM and integrated graphics windows will report as 3.5gb because the differences are reserved for the system or in this case video ram.

dude i know about computers
my Nexus7 shows 1gb RAM & my Galaxy Ace shows 278mb RAM
my su640 (LG Nitro HD) should show 1gb RAM & 4g internal storage, but it shows 768mb RAM & 1.8gb internal storage
here is the proof see the attached image
dude, its fine. different phones are different. we all show less than 1GB ram but that's normal because some of the ram is reserved by the system and can't be accessed by the user. you're not being cheated by anyone.

There has been plenty of discussion about this before it DOES have 4 GB of internal storage and it DOES have 1 GB of ram. The internal storage gets partitioned into system, data, boot & recovery and 1.8 is what is left over. The difference between 1 GB and 768 mb internal is the ram disk and reserved memory for the os.

Dont worry, you still have 1gb ram. My one x shows 790ram. Thats how it is.
hi, way is Zenwatch only showing 2Gb (1.8) of RAM total. As fare I know there schuld be approx 4GB?
I am on lollypop 5.0 on the watch and 4.4 on the phone.
I think you're confusing RAM with storage, but what you have sounds about right.
Some of the storage is taken up by the actual ROM.
