Hello and first i have to say, great forum!
Now to my question. Is it possible to create a swap file or partition (like swapper, or???) for my/our galaxy? Then we didn't have the low ram problem !?!
(like my old htc magic )

there is no low ram problem in actual kernels...
Yes, you mean the kernels with 340mb ram. But i mean ram like galaxy tab ob more. ;-)

Swap does no good for this device, as soon as it starts to swap it gets inresponsive because the sdcard is way to slow except maybe you have a class 16 card which for me is out of reach in terms of price...
Do Galaxy Tab appz use much more RAM? Because with a lot of widgets and synch apps I've never ever filled the 304 (now 340) megabytes of RAM to justify the swap...
Mine shows used 198 mb, free 106 mb... Totalling for 304 mb... Am I not supposed to have 512 mb ram ??
Is this defect with my arc or the whole Indian version of arc...
What are you guys getting... Please post so that I can go for replacement...
I would like ti tell you that though my stats show only 300 mb of ram, my arc is in no way slow... I run spb shell 3d and its very smooth...
Seriously need advice...

The Arc has 512MB for RAM, and 320MB for storage.
I believe some of the RAM is reserved for the operating system, and doesnt show up in memory reports. A bit silly IMO.
Similarly, i think the phone actually has 1GB of internal storage, but 320MB is what's left to the user after OS installation.

the ram is same with mine.
335MB RAM for use & apparently the rest of RAM is shared for Video.
There's total of 380MB of ROM
I've got 133MB used and around 165MB free.
138 used, 173 free at the moment.

well, the official site says it has :
Internal phone storage: 1GB (up to 320MB free)
RAM: 512MB
so, my guess is, the android system use up most of the internal storage (~650mb) so we only have ~320mb free.
and the we only get ~350mb ram couse ~150mb is shared with the graphic.
CMIIW
Kernel etc needs RAM to, because of that we have only 343MB RAM for the users. Other phones have 400 or more MB available and they have also 512MB RAM.
I wish we'd have 400MB, too.
My Arc runs for 150 hours now and RAM is down to 40MB free RAM. Which causes launcher redraws when I open big apps

yeah, i wish we'd have 400mb too, is that posible ?
your arc runs 150 hours ?!
how is that possible ?
mine usually last 1 day (heavy use) or 2 days (normal use)..
I think it should be possible with a custom kernel to enable more RAM that's available to the user.
I mean uptime, not battery life

free RAM 130 MB
sometimes after playing HD games (example : star blitz HD) it goes up to 180 free MB..
Please Pardon My English is not very good:victory::victory:
Why xda developers forum cm10.1 kernel support less and less RAM can expand the point is at least as big as you like cm7.2.
I also tried to swap the sd card but the device becomes unstable
It's because the missing RAM is allocated to the camera.
Missing ram is using as a swap memory (memory used for linux temporary files) and other applications to mAke it faster. As for the unstablity files of android 4 is not properly configured for the device

So, i have a question about Ram "usage". Like everybody i have 2gbs of ram, but my task manager only sees 1689mb of it. Is this normal? Or like on integrated video card in computer, ram shares memory with the video chip?
BB
This is normal as some ram is reserved for system usage so dont worry about it

hi, way is Zenwatch only showing 2Gb (1.8) of RAM total. As fare I know there schuld be approx 4GB?
I am on lollypop 5.0 on the watch and 4.4 on the phone.
I think you're confusing RAM with storage, but what you have sounds about right.
Some of the storage is taken up by the actual ROM.
