N5 Radio Issues [CARBON ROM] - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

I seem to be experiencing some radio issues. I dont think any nightly has implemented a radio fix for the N5, though i havent read any known issues either. I would love some advice on a fix if there is one....

New to threads.....my apologies...

I guess I'll post the answer to my own thread question............
Even using a hybrid radio (that helps in N4), Carbon compatible kernals and radio hacks/tweaks and mods will not allow true LTE. Just for anyone who was having the same or similar issues with Carbon or otherwise, changing your APN in order to not force it to try ONLY to ping LTE will not fix this issue either. However, it is best to change the APN if your a T-Mobile N5 user anyway. (IPv6 to 5 or the leaser option, depending service location)

Flash radio zips after attributing network and performance settings. Uncapping 3G alters compatibility of certain radio.

The radio issues I have posted about aren't specific to ROMs. They're specific to devices and their settings. Each ROM will allow or otherwise, image zips of different sorts.

Said issues alleged fix with 4.4.3

update radio question

Is there a way to upgrade the radio on my phone without wiping it out. Pretty happy with the way things are running now, but would like to try the new radio to see if reception problems go away.
Thanks
Rod
you can just a nandroid backup before applying the radio update then restore the backup. your radio will stay updated.
new reception (leaked 2.2; 2.x radio)

I thought to grab this screenshot today while in the car....I have never had this level of reception at this location!! I was parked to make a call (at a store I know I can pull in and out of easily).
It might be me but I think this due to the new 2.x radio....or it could be because I did the #228 thing to get the data working post rom...

[Q] "MMS Potocol" missing in APN settings

I am having issues setting up my APN for mms.
After checking with another Desire (running stock sense ROM) that does not have any issues with mms, the only difference in the settings I can see is that I am missing the option of setting the MMS Protocol to WAP 2.0.
After checking a number of sites, it seems this option is missing from all AOSP ROMs in Gingerbread.
Is this true? Is there a workaround I can use?
Its not required.
Dont know if this helps...
I have 2 APN's on O2 UK.
I have one for net access only, which has a type of "default, supl" then I have the 2 screen shots below, which show my MMS specific one.

Hope these work, I put them here using a system where images are blocked.
Thank you for the help.
Unfortunately this doesn't solve my problem... this setting is literally the only difference in apn settings between the working desire and mine...
Then the issue must lie somewhere else on the phone. The two phones share the same carrier. Could it be that this issue has to do with the fact that I am running a non-stock rom? Or is there another area in the system settings that affects the mms apn?

[Q] Roaming issue

Greetings programs
I seem to be roaming in places I never had before. I recently flash a custom ROM with MA7 but not sure if that is the problem. I flash a couple of weeks ago and only now having this issuee Going to try and flash just the modem later but figured id check..maybe Isomeone would have some insight.
Changing modems might help, but sprint might be working on towers in your area.

Just a quick update. I changed modems (downgraded to MA5) works fine. Just to check I flashed to MA7 and was back to roaming again. From what i understand the only real diff between the two is one is leaked and the other is official. Maybe they are fiddling with the tower who knows...

For all we know, the modem and or kernel may be the change because it wasn't anything obvious. I'm glad you got it worked out.

No LTE on AT&T

Hey guys the title sorta explains it all, but I am it able to get 4gLTE it only shows 4g. I wondered if it was because of all the roms I flashed so I reverted back to stock using the method I found here. I had stock rom and stock recovery and all. Got the ota and everything went well but I still only show 4g. Any ideas?
Are you running xposed by any chance? I had the same issue a couple weeks ago, but it seemed the problem was due to the smart radio feature in the xposed module gravity box.
Otherwise, perhaps you have some other kind of smart radio working that you weren't aware of.
I'm not sure if I actually got to the root of the problem, but it's working for me now.

I'm not too familiar with those modules, but to check, you could just disable those one by one and see if lte comes back.
Alternatively, the problem could be with your SIM card. If you have someone else with an att phone, you could swap the SIM with them and determine if it's your phone or the card.

Issues with Straight Talk/Verizon apn's on new DP 2

I updated with the beta opt in when it was made available. Before the update my data was working fine. I had successfully ran the DP 1 but went back to stock with the April update. after the update my data goes in and out and my APN settings are locked out so i cant add or edit whats there. I am running Straight Talk with a Verizon network sim card. typically it shows my carrier as Verizon on my phone. now it is showing 31000.

I know there have been issues with the APN settings and this phone early on.
Anyone else having issues or am i alone on this?
texting and calling are working. MMS and Data however are not.
I was able to create another APN alongside the one that the phone created. i have made it as close to the one used previously on O. the one thing though that wont take is the MNVO Type. I wont let me change it to None. None is the setting that worked with my previous setup.
How were you able to add the one you made?
