Greetings programs
I seem to be roaming in places I never had before. I recently flash a custom ROM with MA7 but not sure if that is the problem. I flash a couple of weeks ago and only now having this issuee Going to try and flash just the modem later but figured id check..maybe Isomeone would have some insight.
Changing modems might help, but sprint might be working on towers in your area.

Just a quick update. I changed modems (downgraded to MA5) works fine. Just to check I flashed to MA7 and was back to roaming again. From what i understand the only real diff between the two is one is leaked and the other is official. Maybe they are fiddling with the tower who knows...

For all we know, the modem and or kernel may be the change because it wasn't anything obvious. I'm glad you got it worked out.

Is there a way to upgrade the radio on my phone without wiping it out. Pretty happy with the way things are running now, but would like to try the new radio to see if reception problems go away.
Thanks
Rod
you can just a nandroid backup before applying the radio update then restore the backup. your radio will stay updated.
new reception (leaked 2.2; 2.x radio)

I thought to grab this screenshot today while in the car....I have never had this level of reception at this location!! I was parked to make a call (at a store I know I can pull in and out of easily).
It might be me but I think this due to the new 2.x radio....or it could be because I did the #228 thing to get the data working post rom...

Hi, everyone I had a rooted GS2 and yesterday I flash the lightly tweaked ROM made by Mr. X for wifi calling. The phone was having problems with wifi calling, so i decided to flash the original Wifi calling update from T-mobile via ODIN and now after i flashed the phone it shows "searching" and it won't find the T-mobile network.
What do you guys recommend i do?
thanks
Flash the stock ROM, wait and see if it finds the network. If everything is normal, flash the update.
I dont think mrx rom requires an update being flashed, it didnt for my phone
Yeah people in the thread were having problems and i read somewhere that it was recommended to do what i did so the baseband number can be updated.
I have flashed back to stock ( the original update before the wifi calling update) and it still shows "searching".

This is what I get when i try to manually select the T-Mobile network. BTW i took out my SIM card and put it in an unlocked iphone 3GS and it works just fine.
Any help? I basically have a brick laying around now.
Hey everyone. I've always had an issue with Wifi with my gs3. Every since jumping onto rooted JB from ICS (Was on 4.2.1 now on 4.2.2.) and regardless the rom I use I always have issues with Wifi not connecting to any networks. Sometimes it does, others doesn't. Most times it does but I never get any data, it just sits connected but not recieving info. I've never updated the modem or baseband, is that it?

Could be... what baseband are you running? You can check by going into settings, then "about phone." Here's what mine looks like (I'm on MB1).

I'm on L710VPBLJ7. Thanks for the reply and sorry for my late reply.
I seem to be experiencing some radio issues. I dont think any nightly has implemented a radio fix for the N5, though i havent read any known issues either. I would love some advice on a fix if there is one....
New to threads.....my apologies...
I guess I'll post the answer to my own thread question............
Even using a hybrid radio (that helps in N4), Carbon compatible kernals and radio hacks/tweaks and mods will not allow true LTE. Just for anyone who was having the same or similar issues with Carbon or otherwise, changing your APN in order to not force it to try ONLY to ping LTE will not fix this issue either. However, it is best to change the APN if your a T-Mobile N5 user anyway. (IPv6 to 5 or the leaser option, depending service location)

Flash radio zips after attributing network and performance settings. Uncapping 3G alters compatibility of certain radio.
The radio issues I have posted about aren't specific to ROMs. They're specific to devices and their settings. Each ROM will allow or otherwise, image zips of different sorts.
Said issues alleged fix with 4.4.3
Hi All. I haven't done much with my N7 2013 LTE in a while. But tonight I thought I'd go ahead and update to M. To my surprise when I checked for OTA it told me my system was up to date. I'm not even in the latest 5.1.1 build. Any idea why I wouldn't be able to update?
Yes, if you are rooting, sys patching or modding, you're saying goodby to OTA.
No problem really.

Yeah. I'm aware of all that. This system is stock. I kinda put it on the back burner when I got my S5 and starting modding that. This one has me puzzled. There's no reason it shouldn't take an OTA.
Distributor network issue?.

Tried via WiFi and Cell. This isn't a unit that was bought from TMO. I just use them for the 200 MB a month. I bought it from BB. TBH I just want to update through the latest version of 5.1.1. Right now I'm stuck on LMY48U. Does all this look right?

Many people actually regret OTA update and before you proceed please check your eMMC chip.
