Rooted a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 lite 7 SM t110" Thank You - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

I just rooted my new Tab today thanks to the helpful and complete instruction from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2674649
(3/10/2014) and it works beautifully and is very easy, The step by step instructions and detailed videos made this the easiest root I"ve ever done (which would make all of 2 now). It took all of about 10 min, excluding the hour or so I spent carefully rereading the procedure and watching the videos.
Thank you so much! I have root again!!!

Regarding a boot loop problem mentioned in another thread (I am not able to post in development threads yet so hopefully the author will see this)
I had the same thing happen to mine after installing cwm and rooting then attempting to create backups. I think it was the way I tried to boot into cwm, didn't wait long enough perhaps.
Anyway, I wound up flashing the stock firmware again, using Odin, then redoing the cwm install and rooting again. It worked like a charm for me.

I just had to do the whole process over again because my tab would keep dropping wifi (a common Samsung issue) I did a factory reset, forgetting the stock recovery was not on it any longer. It went right into the cwm bootloop again. I reflashed the stock firmware that I got from honai of androids blog in a link, using Odin.
Then reflashed the cwm, and rerooted. All is working again.

i will retry cm and root, glad to hear i wasnt aalone though i am not wishing anyone bad

Booting straight into recovery
I'm having the same issue as some on this forum. I have searched and searched but cannot find stock firmware. The" honai of androids" lead was a dead end. Link appears to be broken. Can someone point me in the right direction? Samsung Galaxy tab3 7.0 lite.

I thought I'd posted the link to the stock firmware,
oops I cant post links yet, just google honai of android blogspot how to date galaxy tab 3 lite
It is a very slow d/l hosted by one of those "pay for fast download" sites. But the free d/l link works fine and it is the proper firmware, samsung sees it as official.
CAUTION: When rerooting, (Notice I didn't say if, I'm assuming anyone would naturally want to have root), when you boot into CWM, it takes a long time. I didn't wait long enough the first time I did it, and I think that may have something to do with the bootloop issue. I am going to install quickboot and try that.
Follow along with the detailed information and videos that were so well done by xda members. Ive done the whole process about 4 times now (when you do that first boot after flashing CWM, be sure and boot into recovery (again follow the video if you have any questions. The one on youtube posted by root junky, ots excellent.

What if the bootloop does not even allow me to get into recovery or download mode?
Any solutions?

I posted the files that you need to root and reset the custom binary counter.
1. Flash the Stock ROM
2. Install the OTA Updates. (NOTE= Don't install it later, it will bootloop in CWM.)
3. Flash CWM in Odin and then flash the SuperSU ZIP.
4. Flash Stock RECOVERY. (IMPORTANT)
5. Download Rashr and flash CWM image file.
6. Done!
Also don't press to boot in recovery mode. It will bootloop, duh.
All of the files are here: bit.ly/sm-t110-root

please help - clockworkmod backup rom problem

ok so, i just rooted my phone and that went fine. did it with the stock rom, but after I did that I installed clockwork mod. well, i tried to do a back up of the current rom and when it rebooted it crashed. now it comes up to the android system recovery screen but it won't let me select anything...... can anyone help?!?!?
i am freaking out here... did i brick my phone?!?!?! anyone????
I don't know why you're having a problem or what caused it but you certainly didn't brick your phone. You can always flash a new ROM in clockwork or use odin to flash the stock .tar.
edit: missed the part about not being able to select anything in recovery. All is not lost, just flash the stock EG31 .tar with odin and you'll be fine. You're gonna have to reroot and set everything back up again (I've done it twice today) but at least you will still have a phone. Try just flashing the kernel first, maybe you can get it to boot without losing anything.
everytime i reboot the phone it just comes back to this android system recovery screen. it's blule, at the bottom is says manual mode. and something sucsessfull but, it won't let me selelect any of the options and it keeps booting to this screen... where can i download odin? i keep seeing stuff about that, i guess i need to flash to a rom or something....
edit: cool, yeah.. can you show me where to download what your talking about??
thank you!!
get odin here- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1274337
stock tar here- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351761
Read the guides if you aren't familiar with using odin. Good luck.

problem flashing clockwork mod t999....only Android system recovery opens

Hey, if anyhow could help that would be great. I followed ask the instructions to flash Clockwork mod on my t999. Odin recognized phone, i pda'd clockworkmod.tar file, it passed and rebooted. Then i held power up+home+power and entered Android system recovery. Have done a few times and i continue to get Android system recovery. Obviously my phone isn't rooted yet, just got it. Is there an alternate way to get clockwork mod or am i doing something wrong? Thank you, any help is much appreciated...

Ok, i just read the instructions again and it won't be possible to get past step 3 then
1. Copy cwm_superuserv3.0.7.zip
2.power off the phone
3. Bout your phone into clockworkmod
So if you know a way i can root my phone without being clockworkmod, can you paste a link? Because it's telling me i need clockworkmod to root phone....thanks again
Check out MrRobinsons thread in development. Very easy!

Have you installed recent LH2 OTA update? This is a known issue with this update, quite well described here. To root your phone, you should flash CWM with ODIN, then don't let the phone boot normally (by pulling out the battery), then boot in CWM once and flash root. Finally, after booting the phone normally, CWM will be rewritten, but you will have rooted phone. Hope this helps.
There's another really helpful tutorial on rooting without tripping the flash counter. It's stickied around here somewhere, I'll see if I can find it.

By the way, it worked perfectly, i suggest though, when in Odin, uncheck auto reboot, so it didn't reboot after it passes, then i just pulled battery out and tried booting in CWM and it worked. Guess you can't let it reboot or you have to do it again. My last question is, do i keep my phone in usb debugging mode with root on stock rom? I had a galaxy s2 and i know some custom roms had to have usb debugging on. Just not sure if stock with root i should or shouldn't. Thanks again, i hit all the thanks meters on this one, was driving me nuts....Jake

[Q] N7100 Boot Loop + Stuck at Samsung word

Hello everyone! This is my first post here, actually ive been here just for stalking and follow tutorials. this forum is the best for me and helped me a lot. But, 2 days ago, I got an issue that cant be solved by me by refering threads. So I decided to register to forum, and ask by myself.
Here's the problem.
"There has been sudden booting while I was using Facebook on my device, while I reboot it, it stuck at "Samsung Galaxy Note II -GTN7100" after a while, it reboot again. It happened suddently. It happens continously untill now. It has been 2 days I search through the forum but none can help me."
My device details while the problem occur :
ROM : Paranoid Android 3.99 RC2
Recovery : TWRP 2.6.3.0
kernel : stock
and my device can turn into download mode, and TWRP. but only cant boot into ROM.
I did try to flash many ROM via TWRP. And do fresh format.(Clean evrything via TWRP). Install various ROM and it seemed cant help to boot into the ROM.
I also try to flash stock from SAM, via Odin, but it helpless.
I also discovered that is not the power button issue, as i can boot into recovery without restarting by itself. So I think it is not about the power button.
I tried to use other recovery, and flash CWM via Odin, but cant get to CWM recovery mode. I also tried to flash stock recovery, but same as CWM. Only TWRP is working on my phone.
I searched thorugh the forum, and many ask to do factory reset, but it helpless for me.
Thanks everyone for any suggestion! and dont ask me to go to Samsung centre as my device warranty is expired.:cyclops:

well flash this http://d-h.st/fWr and try install any custom rom and get back with the result
and what about philz recovery that does not work even http://d-h.st/iII
Try flash cf-auto root through odin. Usually the phone will successfully booting after the auto root process done.

well it seems its time to it to service guys it should have booted fine or maybe the pit partition damaged is not letting it boot
if u have tried solving that way then finally to ss
flash pit partition http://d-h.st/Dlv,then flash the firmware stock
I read through the thread and was about to say what the above poster suggested. Make sure you tick repartition in Odin when you've input the pit file.

Hello everybody.... I assumed that this topic now shall be closed since I sadly solved it.
The solution :
After trying stock ROM and cant enter stock recovery, I tried many official rom 4.1.2 and many custom rom, but nothing can help.
So I decided to go to Samsung centre, then they tried to flash with their own odin, so the same thing happened. After a few checkings, ive been told that my motherboard got problem. So I need to change a new motherboard but I dont want.
So, i decided to buy a brand new phone that same price as the new motherboard =.= .... Thanks to all that trying to help me especially mr Ankit.. Many2 thanks and i appreciate it.. Taking 3 days without sleeping to figure it out seems helpless..
If there are any possible solution, please share to me since Im still following this thread..

Continuing from my above post, I also faced the same situation...Samsung service center guys told me that my motherboard needs to be replaced and it would cost Indian Rs.7400/-, so I am going ahead with the replacement, as now also a new note 2 costs min. Rs.22k in India. And at the Rs.7500/- price point even the new 'Android One' phones launched by Google are no where near to the punch packed by Note 2.
Hope this post helps other beleaguered souls like me.

Pity, mate- but I think motherboard change will in fact provide you a new phone. Samsung has used some third party components that have not been so reliable. New motherboard will have aproven components.

have you updated to the kitkat bootloader. if you have and try to use the cf root made for our device the recovery is no longer usable. google search cf auto root for n9005 kitkat. that one works though it will install the recovery for the n9005 but is functional other than that i would say go to sammobile.com and make an account (free) then download wich ever version you had running wether it be 4.3 or 4.4 then use 7zip and extract the recover.img then flash that using odin.....

I used the ROM Installer app and downloaded the Pac-Man Rom + Gapps, booted into recovery (using twrp.) I then wiped the data, cache, dalvik, and then tried installing the zip files i had downloaded. It would at first just reboot my phone normally and so I downloaded the a aokp Rom off the internet and onto my flash drive, then used a cable to attach both the phone and drive and tried installing the Aokp ROM. That then put my into a loop, I was able to get out of it by using Odin and flashing the openrecoverytwrp.2.6.3.0.img which got me booting back to normal. Sooo I then tried again and then lost the option of getting into recovery.
Their ROM is 4.4. What boot loader do you have. Did you update to kit Kat?

OK do this go to sammiemobile get the factory stock. Flash thru Odin. Then reboot make sure it stock. Download to your PC the ROM you want. Cf auto root and the recovery you like for kit Kat. Don't use any app to download anything. Once you set. Then do the cfautoroot. Let that cycle. Then flash recovery thru Odin. Then reboot. Then power down and reboot into recovery . it works .good. Boot up then add ROM to SD reboot recovery and flash. Done.
Factory wipe before going stock.

Make sure you use the proper cf auto root and cwm or twrp

You don't keep holding those buttons when the red and blue and yellow words pop up do you? Our phone allows us to hold the power button for about 6 seconds and it will reboot.
Let up off those buttons you're holding when trying to boot into recovery as soon as you see the blue and red and yellow writing.
The blue writing states that you're already booting Into recovery.
Tl;dr You're holding the buttons too long after it reboots. Let off them.
Eek, I just read the steps you tried to resolve this. Sorry you had to go through that. I don't think that was your issue, but I just thought I'd throw my 2cents in
BTW if this is not the case, then disregard please.

I did exactly what you said and it worked! I appreciate your help!!!!!! I just downloaded the stock firmware and my phone booted back to factory settings. I haven't rooted it yet. I have a few different cf auto root files, is this the correct one CF-Auto-Root-hlte-htlexx-smn9005.tar.md5?
Just out of curiosity, which back up do you prefer cwm or twrp?

Yeah it's all good, I got it fixed finally. I'm not exactly sure what my issue was I'm just glad it's working. I tend to try different things with my phone or phones i've had in the past without, I just wasn't careful enough to what I was doing I guess. Are you running cm ROM on your N3?

Yup that is the right cf auto root. I have flashed both recovery thru Odin. Work great both times. I used cwm up until 3 days ago. Switched because one of my friends was having issues and wanted to make sure it was not a recovery thing. Been on twrp and it good. Glad I could help you. Enjoy the greatness of this phone.

Dam it i got the same problem but i really can't boot into recovery or download mode. Anyone know how i can adb into download mode?
Edit: Figured it out... thank god.
Just a heads up. Next time to save time of a huge file download. Just download another Recovery for your device. You flashed a corrupt recovery which caused your phone to not go into recovery at all. Always ensure the model # matches yours also.

Also flashing CF-Auto Root does not help a bad recovery fix, it just roots your phone, so you flashing CF AutoRoot was of no use at that point.

The reason he got the bootloop was cause cf root does it. That is why he needed to download the cf auto root euro version.

I don't think its that. If it is their post should be in the International Note 3 9005 thread, not T-Mobiles thread, and seeing that they have been rooted before ( i know because thats the only way they could reboot to recovery with rom manager) they must have used the n900t CF AutoRoot which is correct if the person have the T-Mobile version. Reading through and seeing that they never confirmed or have been asked for their phone model, just the second post person suggesting stuff for the 9005 without questions, since he/she said they haven't rooted yet after successfully booting up from the stock flash, he/she haven't used the 9005 Auto Root as yet which I think they shouldn't as they might brick their phone. His recovery went bad after he flashed the wrong recovery to their phone.

Let's agree to disagree. But if you check chainfires tweet he even said to use the cf euro version because it plays right with the TMOBILE. I have helped may bootloopers with just changing the root method. Just ask the op. He tried just the recovery with bootloops. And it was the right one cause he used the one I used.

Complete noob thinks he may have softbricked his phone

Hi guys. Brand new to this whole rooting thing. Long story short, I rooted my device (Galaxy S3 sgh-t999) a while back and was just living off stock touchwiz just with all the bloatware deleted. I had the most recent version of TWRP installed and my recovery was based on that. I then downgraded TWRP to 2.3.3.0. It asked me to reboot and I did so. Now I'm stuck at the Samsung logo screen but it doesn't get past that. The device seems to boots up, but the moment the little Samsung jingle starts to play (you know the swirly blue mist that encompasses the Samsung logo), it stops in the middle of the jingle and the phone won't get passed it.
I tried rebooting back into TWRP via up, home, power and was able to get into TWRP recovery good enough, I can access everything in the menu and tried wiping dalvik, cache, factory reset and system and restored from my backup, but upon trying to restore from my custom backup, it just stalls on the Samsung logo screen. Any ideas if this is fixable? Sorry if this is in the wrong forum guys.
Also, I should make mention that whenever I try to hard power off my phone by holding down the power button, it turns off for a moment then boots back on again. I actually have to remove the battery in order for the phone to turn off. Don't know if that helps.
That's normal when you hold the power button down. It's a hard reset so it's supposed to boot back up.
As for your other issues, why did you downgrade twrp? If your backup was made with another version I suggest using the same to restore it.
Most of the time a factory reset will fix this type of problem, but it sounds like we are beyond that now. If the restore and another reset don't work, go to my firmware thread (sticky in development) and download the same or newer firmware as what you had before. Flash via Odin and factory reset from the stock recovery. ( This will wipe the internal sd)
That should get you going again.
For the future, please do not ever manually wipe /system. You could end up with no O/S to boot into and a hell of a headache! There is simply no benefit to doing so. Only risk.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Good luck!

I downgraded TWRP because I was having issues flashing a new ROM. Every ROM I tried flashing came up with an error and people said they were most successful with 2.3.3.0 so I tried it out. I suspected it might have screwed something up but stupid me always has to be sure. I would try and re-use an upgraded TWRP version if possible but I don't think I can access that from the TWRP menu itself and that's just about the only function my phone has at this point. Just booting into TWRP and playing around with the menu.
Do you have a link to your thread? Thanks for the time by the way.
The link should be in my sig. But it's stickied at the top of the development section. Can't miss it.
If you go to twrp's Web page you can download a newer one in .zip format and flash from your current version.
Or get the .tar.md5 one and flash from Odin.
In the newer versions you can actually flash the .img file itself. After choosing install and are browsing for the file, look for a button to use the .img.
I don't believe this is available in the older ones though.

Yup! It was really a simple matter of updating TWRP via Odin. I don't know why it never crossed my mind to use it. Maybe I'll have more luck using different ROMs through Odin instead of TWRP as well.
Odin is really only just for flashing full firmware for updates and returning to stock, and for flashing recovery. Pretty much everything else (all custom roms, for example) is meant to be flashed in a custom recovery like twrp. If you're ever unsure, reread the op of whatever you're flashing, and if your answer isn't there feel free to ask about it.
In a nutshell: Odin only flashes .tar and .tar.md5 files. Recovery flashes .zip.
I do highly recommend an app called Mobile Odin by chainfire. Search xda for his thread and make sure you read all the info if you're interested. It can make flashing super easy!

I am having a similar issue. I have never modified any of the original specs and this is a new issue as of 48 hours ago. In short, my device was on, auto shutdown and then froze on the Galaxy S3 load screen. Attempts to boot in recovery, safe, and soft/hard reset have not worked. I can access Odin mode. After reading the above thread I went to the link you suggested and went directly to the firmware my SGH-T999 started with(T999UVDLJA) and worked my way up the list to see if any of them would take. Unfortunately none achieved a 'PASS' via Odin. So, my question is, what do you do when all the steps have been followed and the firmware doesn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
What error are you getting in Odin?
Do you see anything about warranty bit on the download screen? If you are, the flash is probably failing because you are trying to flash old firmware over new firmware. I suggest flashing the latest firmware for your T999 from here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SGH-T999/
