Okay so guy i have a boost mobile galaxy s3 and of course sprint is the parent company. Recently they started throttling speeds again after the 2.5gb data cap was reached and now my speeds are 0.15Mbps down which is really bad. I want to know if there is a way to get around being throttled. And if this is against the rules then im sorry for asking but i dont know.

Not sure if its against XDA rules. A moderator will lock this thread if it is. I don't believe there is a way, because throttling is done on a per account basis.

I read about something where you can delete a throttling folder thats in the system files of the phone. It tracks how much data you used on your phone but it didnt work. I think because i had already reached my cap but i really dont know. Im just looking for another way

I don't believe its possible, I'm sure Sprint's servers automatically throttle your phone once it reaches 2.5gbs.

Seems hard to believe Boost / Sprint doesn't keep track of data on their end, rather than on the phone.

I'm almost 100% sure their servers are programmed to throtttle data on any Boost acct. that reaches 2.5gbs, and to me, they kinda should. Why should I have to pay full Sprint price, where as Boost customers pay about half? Folks in that thread pretty much said that fix was useless.

Yeah I thought boosts or sprints throttle was 256kbps but now I've realized its 30kbps on at&t it was 60kbps. Think the only other cheap option is metro PCs. 60$ gets you unlimited but who knows if its really unlimited.

So, for the past week or two weeks my G2's Internet/data speed has gon' tremondously slow.
I'm talking about,I feel like I got a metro phone unless I have wi-fi.
My G2 has always bin running excellent ,until now its bin acting like its on edge.
I've switched my Radio,ROM and Kernels and still the problem seems to exist.
I've tried so manytimes and my market downloads take up to 30 minutes to download and my youtube loads so slow....I don't watch it anymore unless I'm at home on wi-fi.
Has any one bin experiancing this? Anybody can tell me how to fix this problem? Much appriciated.
Oh and, the 4G/H icon still shows..
Thanks.

There isn't really that much you can do. I know there is a thread somewhere in development that will show you how stop being throttled but not sure if it would work if they already started doing it. Luckily for me I get that message every month but my speeds stay exactly the same.

The fact that your on wifi is exactly why you don't even come close to using that much data. I also got a text from them and I'm still getting fast speeds. I average about 5mbps. I've also hit 15+mbps three times. I've tried posting pics but have been unsuccessful. I'm using shootme but every time I try to upload I get a "wrong extension" message. Not sure why it's happening now,but I was able to upload fine before.

Very misleading title and article. For those that like to skim and call that reading, it would be hard to not come away thinking that sprint is now no different than any other wireless company.
Article author has spite for Sprint, for whatever reason, otherwise he wouldn't write in such a negative tone. That or author is just trying to be sensationalistic in order to grab more attention.

You have unlimited data plan with sprint now and you want to switch to teered plan with Verizon?
All I have to say is this:
Sprint is the last carrier with true unlimited data, get on a plan NOW before they get rid of it. Otherwise for new subscribers it will be as it is with other carriers now.
I wonder if that means sprint will be bringing down the hammer on illegal tethering like att has oooo **** haha

I've spent time traveling around the Kansas City, KS metro area, and it seems most places are lit up now, especially in Olathe. Average speeds are a little disappointing considering these towers should have very little load. I've done approximately 350 speed tests so far.
I'm getting a consistant average of 10mbps down/up around the entire metro, with highs of 13mbps down/up and lows of 8mbps down/up during the day. Late at night speeds are 15mbps down/up around the metro for me. In my basement I only get about 6-7mbps down/up (with 0-1 bars) no matter the time of day.
The latency is outstanding! I've had pings as low as 42ms. The highest I have seen is 70ms, and the average is about 55ms. Great for remote desktop and video chat
I'll keep this updated with my findings. Highest test I have pulled so far has been 20 down/15 up.
Don't think so. Not here in Dallas yet.

Because they're broke, losing customers, and that's all they have to try to get people to stay. If they start improving and rolling out this LTE network widely and (gasp) maybe gain customers, they'll cut unlimited data just like AT&T and Verizon.

There's no money in that compared to running postpaid services. And they sell wholesale service to Ting already. Why would they turn themselves into a prepaid carrier? Think Sprint would go out of business before they did that.

Lol its not a hack.. But doesnt matter if it says unlimited as its only 300mb while roaming.. And you cant just call and tell them to look at your data you need to wait for sprint to call you and give you a warning before you can get out termination fee free.. Not to mention if you have other lines on your account that do not use as much data roaming they might not let you cancel them all without a etf but only the line thats using too much roaming data.. Not to mention if you have a airrave they might not let you off the hook at all since the airrave is to ikprove signal and you shouldnt be roaming so ur doing something that doesnt seem right..

Even if you use 300MB a month, if it is not the majority of your data, they probably won't care. From what I can see, you are doing pretty well as you are able to use 6GB of 4G data and 1.3GB of 3G data.

Here are the speeds you get when throttled.
Also, the distance is wrong there, it's like 20 miles.

Yes, I agree with the OP. Why is anyone assuming he was surprised he got throttled? He never said anything close to that. He just posted that he reached his cap and what his speeds were. Settle down folks, nothing to see here.

If you referring to me all I did was asked the OP if he was that surprised as in are you surprised about that, I never once said he was surprised. and then I went on to state to him and anyone else who read the post that Tmobile is notorious for throttling you down worse than any other company. This thread really needs to be locked because it's turning into something that it shouldn't be and I get called an asshole for letting other readers know that Tmobile was the worst when it came to throttling you .

Honestly not sure why someone would post this. 99.5% of the people know you get throttled after 5gigs....better than other companies charging you for going over no?

I'm surprised.
this has no real purpose
everyone here knows if you pass your data, you get throttled.
