I have an old Epic 4g Touch laying around and it can have a pretty large amount of storage in combination with my 16gb micro sd and I've been wanting an Mp3 player lately, so naturally I got this idea. Figured I can just get rid of all the bloatware and have it in airplane mode all the time. So basically I don't have much experience with all of this ROM and rooting business. I did manage to root my device following this tutorial: http://www.rwilco12.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=84
So now I'm rooted and have ROM manager on my phone from the Play Store and now I don't really know where to go from here. I would like to have just a really simple interface with some really nice lock screen music controls and what-not. So if anyone could just point me in the right directions that would be great.
I just realized I could/should have posted this in a more general forum rather than my specific phone forum.
So also I guess a suggestion of a better place to post this would be just as helpful.
Hey bro, congrats bro,now you can try to personalise your device by downloading Xposed, with xposed you can try to costumize your statusbar, homescreen, lockscreen,Moderator Edit...discussion about warez or hacking is not allowed on XDA

Get Viper4Android and it will make your music sound unbelievable good since all you want is an mp3 player. And maybe get remote control for earphone from the play store if you have head phones with a play/pause button.
DO NOT USE ROM MANAGER TO INSTALL RECOVERY ON THIS DEVICE YOU WILL TURN YOUR PHONE INTO A PAPERWEIGHT

Hi everyone! Are there any other ringtones and/or sounds other than the ones installed in the Galaxy SIII that I can download? I don't know about you but the alarm sounds in this phone are just to subtle for me.
Thanks!

You can add any mp3 or ogg file.

There are quite a few ringtone apps that work. I used Zedge for most of mine. It's just pull any mp3 file.
Sent from Pluto.
I use a flac file for notifications. I guess that all formats listed on developer.android.com/guide/appendix/media-formats.html can be used.
For the notification to show up, I had to put the NAME.flac file in /sdcard/Notifications/NAME.flac. After a reboot it will then show up as NAME in the settings. I guess the same applies to ringtones, they could be put in /sdcard/Ringtones/.
Note that putting the file in /extSdCard/... won't work on CM9, it just don't get picked up.
Btw, this is about a GT-i9300, I do not know if the Sprint version differs much.
An easy way to get a ton of free audio stuff is through the Zedge app from the play store.

If you're rooted you can dump any sound files in system/media/audio/ringtones or notifications and they will appear in the android system list of choices. I always bring Cassiopeia and Sherbet from the SGS2 to any rom I flash.
You can also search for sound file apk for different phones in their forums..usually Zip and sideload to phone or download zip app

Hey, guys!
Thought I'd go ahead and share this .apk with the rest of you. If you ever ran MIUI on your previous devices, you'd probably agree that music player is probably one of the best looking players out there. I loved the UI and decided to install it on my Note II, which runs perfectly.
APK file attached below, as well as some screenshots posted:

If installing by any file explorer doesn't work out, then simply push the .apk by adb.
To do so, reboot into recovery and from a command terminal, enter the following commands:
Code:
adb shell mount /system
adb push MIUIMusic2.3.2.apk /system/app/MIUIMusic.apk
I'd advise fixing permissions first before rebooting back into system, just in case...
Hey thanks bro, I love this player n the walkman one. It looks so much cleaner then stock. I was skeptical cuz of fixing permissions(I'm not rooted yet) but I dl anyways just cuz this looks way better. DL n installed with no problems, Thanks!

To me this is the kind of mod that affects hardware which I'm not comfortable with. I just would feel weird pushing my speakers beyond what they are designed for. I think a lot of people would rather have the option in like an Aroma installer than have it pushed to them.
Because not everyone needs it.
It's currently not working properly with JB as well, correct? That's what the dev says on the play store page...
I use volume + everyday. With jb, and it works fine. All the settings work as intended. I just figure everybody wants better quality music, and volume+ coupled with Dolby makes my phone sound great. Its loud and crisp with no crackles even with my processor running as low as it goes!!

Not everyone needs a lot of things that different Roms offer. I think having options is more desirable if they are worthy of use.

I'm really just making a guess here so don't take this too seriously but: Maybe you have those push notifications or whatever on?
bump... I found this thread by accident but I am having the same issue as well. I'm actually on a galaxy S4 on T-Mobile but I figured it would be the same issue with the same remedy. I didn't see any thread on this issue and I didn't want to start a new one. Have you guys found a cure for it yet? Thank you

Did you make a script to start every time phone boots to disable SElinux, and install the driver.
ok so today i noticed that doesnt work with any mp3 player downloaded from play store and winamp for android
instead works with a streaming app like radio zu
i dont know why
.......
Just use the stock music play, also download ROM Tool Box and freeze the MusicFx and the Music DSP, forgot the name but is says music something. Worked for me over Bluetooth perfect.
