Best idea, switch to Stock.. Unrooted and relock your bootloader.. U will see your phone's best performance..

Do all that and still u can unroot your phone.. Or just flash stock, remove junk and keep root.. But i personally used all ROMs in here and felt Stock to be the smoothest and Stock kernel to provide the best results in terms of performance and battery too.. U can test it yourself..

If mediaserver is eating your battery, make a cache wipe and dalvik cache wipe..

You should try the Nature Xperia Advance Rom (3.1), the ram management is pretty good compared to stock rom :good:

Try greenify. It's available on playstore. Works great for me.

Use another ROM
Leopardx isn't as great as CM11 and PureSlim KitKat R1.
I've around 100-200MB of free RAM even with few big apps installed on it.
Use CM11-OpenSEMC by RaymanFX with CleanMaster(root access for CleanMaster is better) for better RAM management.
Also PureSlim KK R1 is good choice if you want better battery back-up.
The custom ROMs are far more better than stock ROM in all aspects except Camera(PureSlim has an equivalent camera).

Hi,
Title speaks for itself... which ROM has the most space available after first install? Prefferably looking for non-SenseUI ROMs.

Internal storage isn't like RAM. Having the absolute maximum possible left over won't give you the slightest benefit.

I know that... just wanted a clean ROM without preinstalled apps that I don't use, but also can't remove. OD is perfect it seems

The same as everyone else, make your own mind up.
i just wanna know is it possible to revert back to official gb..??
or after updating ics with acustom rom can arc s have all ics features plus smooth performance??
well on icS everything is smooth except few games..if u are a hardcore gamer then btr stick with gb..or else feel free to try ics
u can always go back to GB
the whole ROM thing is kinda "YMMV" - it works great for some, but doesn't for someone else. Try some popular ROM and kernel and find out what works best.

you can definitely return back to gb if you have an unlocked bootloader. and why dont you consider installing custom kernels or roms on your phone?
Yes ICS is really cool . iam runing on ICS 4.0.4 on my ARC S.full stock. i did not unlock my bootloader yet since i just bought it recently (still have my warranty) . i suggest u go for the Jump. ICS is real smooth. Hey if u Jump u can always Fall back . u can return to GB anytime u want. its your Handset, it's your decision.with a little help from Everyone here WE can FLY UP & Down as we Wish , after all it's our wings.:silly::highfive:
Go ahead and update to ICS its smooth and good. Then dont worry about going back to GB, its very easy and YOU DONT NEED TO UNLOCK BOOT LOADER. There is a tool called flashtool you can use it and flash any Sony offical ROM on to your phone. If you want more internal memory you can root your phone and get rid of unwanted apps. A little advice, use Sony Update service to update your phone not PC Companion. When updating through SUS choose to erase all and install update. it makes the phone smooth. Just updating using PC Companion dont erase data and you will experience a some lag.

You can return to stock GB even with a locked bootloader (as I did). Just flash a SE stock GB ROM using Flashtool.
In regard to the original question, in my humble opinion, the performance drawback of ICS on Xperia Arc S and the buggy video shooting capability could not be outweighed by the advantages of ICS (which are debatable; one that stuck with me was the ability to dictate to the phone continuously, can hardly remember any other advantage at all, apart from the allegedly improved photo quality). So, in short, ICS was a pain in the ass for me, I'm back to Gingerbread and cannot believe this is the same sluggish and inoperable phone it was under ICS.
Your mileage may vary, and given that you can revert back to GB safely, it makes sense to try ICS for yourself and decide.

i successfully updated to ICS
i need a little bit more space in internal memory... is there anyway to move apps to sd card (those cant be moved)??
and to get rid of unwanted system apps??
Root your phone. (There are plenty of threads on that already).
Get Link2SD. See it up using XperiaBlog's guide. No more issues with low memory.
Get Titanium Backup. Helps you remove even those hard to remove apps.

don't update..honest advice..I updated and returned to GB after long struggle with ICS..

Laggy stock rom?

Hey,
So I got this phone and the stock rom is very laggy and slow.
Is there any other rom out there that can make the phone better responsive and faster?
Please recommend.
Thanks
CM9

CM9 is more responsive but you lose your great camera if that is important to you. Try force rendering the gpu in the developer options and see if that helps you any first.
Another thing you can do is unlock the bootloader, root the phone, and flash a customer kernel and overclock the phone.
I keep coming back to stock sense for the great battery life, camera, and the widgets lol
If you want sense then go for my one v rc5.....

I have primoc. My stock rom really doesn't lag since I overclocked it.
Maybe u installed & open so many application at the same time..
My phone was never so laggy when i'm using the stock rom before..
If you wanna try to overclock your kernel, then you need to unlock & root.

Root your stock rom with ClockWork Mod Recovery, then install Geeky Engine Script, it'll definitely speed up!

If it so please let me know if any custom kernel cooked with latest ICS with ram allocation for use to be more than 700 mb atleast.
All problem comes with less ram allocation.
