Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to somehow change the stock lockscreen? I really want the lockscreen from cm, but as I understand it it only possible to change actual lockscreens from Android 4.2 and up.... Is there some way to replace it on stock rom anyway though?

Of course it is. Even without root, there are some apps like Widgetlocker or GO Locker, and also when You install some custom launcher like MIUI You get their lockscreen.

Thanks for that, ive tried those kind of apps. But they dont actually replace the lg lock screen, but seem to override it instead. I specifically want to change to the cm lockscreen, since it is my absolute favorite:

Something like this, but it is not possible to change unless your on android 4.2 or higher....
If i'm not mistaken, ROM prior to 4.2 can't have widget in the lock screen.
unless you flash it to 4.2, you won't get the same feature.

Its possible yes....
This is achieved with an app called WidgetLocker...
The possibilities to create your own unique lockscreen is virtually endless..
no i dont mean widget locker. This picture is from a custom rom. And this lockscreen is no app, its an modified stock lockscreen.

Well.. then they have built the widgetlocker app into the ROM...
It's not that unique..
Call it whatever you want,, you can duplicate it with WidgetLocker.

I dont think its widgetlocker...
I mean if they edit their framework (i dunno which .xml it is), they can get this as a normal lockscreen...

Correct.... but OP asked how to achieve the effect on SG2
And the answer to that is WidgetLocker...
I could also write that we could make a launcher for him, but who would bother do that just for the lockscreen which you can mod with stock Touchwiz launcher...
I attached my lockscreen just as an example...

I just wanted to say that because i didn't see the WL icon on the statusbar (i've never used it so i dunno if it's always there)
And i was also wondering because it's 99% the same as the original one (the bar on the bottom is the 1% which isn't normal)
and also his carrier is there on top (vodafone.de)

Hi,
just a quick question, how did you get the batter percentage on the lock screen and also missed call, sms email etc icons? I already have widgetlocker but did not see these options. (mine is has now been rooted)

All android phones have this lockscreen built in, its just a matter of how you
enable it. with my last phone i could delete htclockscreen.apk and my phone
would then have that lockscreen. I dont know the exact procedure to enable
this lockscreen on the sgs2, normally its done by the rom chef and you can
select it in the settings.
Look or ask here for info if you dont want some 3rd party lockscreen (which i dont)

Is there a Deodexed ROM for KE7? It would be hard to work with Odexed rom, since you have to re-odex the files using your device and ADB.

I still have the stock lock screen. I've seen some really cool ones out there but they came with a warning that they only work with a certain ROM.
How do people change their lock screens and how do you know if a lock screen will work with a certain modified ROM?

I believe the only one that require a specific ROM are the ones for MiUI... and there are some pretty sweet ones for that.
In addition to what was mentioned previously, there's also WidgetLocker. That's a pretty good one too.

Seeing those is what got me started on a quest to find a better lock screen.
if you are refering to lockscreens built into a rom directly... Those require framework apk modfication,framework jar modfication android policy jar and so on so forth for them to be present in the device.. The reason you cannot just flash another devices say framework jar and policy jar is a theres going to always be diffrences between 2 diffrent gingerbreads even if they are the same version example would be mount parttion info.. for starters which could render you in a softbrick state and heaven forbid you flashed the whole rom including the firmware and totally bricked a device
on another note as people have stated there is some great free lockscreens on the market gratned there apps
Widgetlocker is not free, but it has some great options, including ICS lock screen.
i tried all types of free lock screen replacements and feel widget locker is worth 2.99. You can customize it very well and there is a thread with 330+ pages of themes.

You can use WidgetLocker, Holo Locker, LockBot or any other replacement lockscreens.

Try Go launcher and install go locker plug-in. Highly customizable.

Could someone make a mod to give us a 100% stock AOSP lockscreen option? I like using Nova but the touchwiz lockscreen in ruining the experience. Plus lockscreen apps like widgetlocker kinda suck.

Not even close to stock. For instance, no camera shortcut, no google now shortcut. The samsung clock widget is still on the screen.

My buffalo, just read your post in there and his response. I made the ICS lockscreen mod for the E4GT in the past:here From my understanding it is really just turning on the feature in the android.policy.jar. My guess is that Shiftr made the changes and what he wants to see. But in order to make it full JB it would take some heavy modification to the android.policy.jar and framework-res.apk to include those feature you seek. I am not saying it is impossible but there is a reason you only see it in AOSP roms.
I would love to see a flashable zip!

I am looking for the old original stock lock screen from 4.1 (like in the screenshot). For me is the new one terrible and I was wondering if someone can make a MOD or gave me a hint, how can I do it myself. Sadly I am a noob and I can only root my phone and flash some roms and mods. I am not looking for the Holo Locker or other app. Just want the poor old stock lock.

You can use Widget Locker to set up your lock screen like that. I actually use Widget Locker to get a look similar to the 4.2 stock look on CM 10.1 since the CM one isn't quite the same as the stock one.

Beat me to it! I tried it on both my Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 4 a while back and it worked as expected. However, I disable my lock screen using Lockscreen Policy so to me it's a non-issue with the 4.2 lock screen.
You can try Holo Lockscreen app from the play store.

Have you not tried xylon ROM? Or a few others that have lockscreen targets? You can set it up just like that.

I'd like to see the developers given an option in their ROMs for turning the lockscreen widgets on and off. I know for me right now my problem with them is if I try to check my notifications I find myself missing the drag point for the notification bar and then I end up expanding the widget. Very, very annoying.
Yes, a mod like this would be good. I especially hate how Poweramp shows up on lock screen on 4.2. Its like a small ugly box on lock screen. 4.1 lock screen had it perfect.

You can use this if you want to disable lock screen widgets and camera...
It does not give you 4.1's lock screen but gets rid of your lock screen widgets...
