Flash stock(or stock-based, like Optimus or d3rp) and get a GPS lock, then wipe everything and flash an AOSP ROM.

Some have more issues than others. I personally have a hell of a time getting GPS to work on anything other than stock. For some it works perfectly.

I've never had to use backups for something like this, but do you have to wipe before restoring a backup? and if so, where does the phone store the prl information that the phone doesnt wipe or otherwise format when restoring a backup? i was running aokp but if i set preferred data to lte it says im roaming and wont connect, and i used this method to update my prl profile and it didnt work for me. had to go back to stock for now.
Any updates soon

A ROM that we want it to be. Smooth. The features. Creativity. Without those in the credits in the box, i guess, you won't see this ROM being a combo.
What is Xylon?
A Generally based of many kinds of features around the Android Development and fits into minimal customization. It may act up like AOKP, but totally not at all. Overall, we're still in work in progress state of changing the base to slightly minimal like FNV before. This ROM is built off with GCC 4.7, O3, Linaro Strings enabled. (Galaxy Nexus Kernel, fusion with anarkia's horn, O3 and Linaro GCC 4.7.3 enabled.). Feature list will be available in the 2nd post. Changelogs. We don't usually write up but we will starting builds of 2.2. Again, it's a kang - kang - kang -o-rama ROM! ;D
P.S.S **** off fanboys. We're doing this for fun.

I noticed it says it has all the features from SlimKat V3. Slimkat stopped working for Herc's not long before they released V3, people were getting black screens and other boot fails. I wonder if we're getting it now because of those features. This is pure conjecture of course but might be helpful in fixing the issue.

Going to build again tonight for both devices. If anyone still has this on their phone would you quick flash with an alternate kernel on top and let me know if it boots all the way. I think it might be the kernel or tool chain I'm using to build.

Ummm Hmmmmmm the Op says vs980 only. Hence why you can't get it to work

Is this pure Kk? No cyanogenmod base like the spirit rom? Why I ask is because of the kernels for aosp didn't work for it but I want to try on this

How did you download this rom for the D800, I would like to know? The OP clearly states VS980 only. And running the wrong rom on the wrong phone will make it run hot.
LTE on most custom ROMs

Try my post, there you'll find various methods to set LTE. It applies to most custom ROMs
@wadamean @Jimi Mack
Amazing things happen when you read an entire op. Yes its wizardry.

Install gsam and see of there is a system drain. Also mess around in trickster mod. Namely try changing the governor and scheduler.

Gigglekat
I tried it, and i found these problems.
-Telephone doesn't turn off and reboot directly to the point when rom animation starts(this problem there's also when i reboot normally or when i try to go to recovery directly from quickonboot)
-Telephone doesn't recognize simcard

Hopefully your not having the same issue I did with my g2....I couldn't get a ROM to read my Sim I ended up having to go back straight stock and start over.... But I guess the question that would rule that problem out is.... With a different ROM are u having any issued

Awesome. I didn't flash it on my vs980 because of all the reports. Glad to see development is coming back to it.
