In this thread i will share my experience with our little Gio, how to use it with bugless rom, optimized tweaks and all best tricks which i using long time, be patient because this thread will be updated frequently
First of all you will need rom with less bugs, if is possible without bugs??Yes is posible, here it is DEV] CyanogenMod 7 | MoltenMotherBoard (Nightly 20130722)
Then need Adrenaline engine script from here
CWM][SCRIPTS][TWEAKS] Adrenaline™ Engine | STOCK/CM 4.4 | 30/10
After flash cm7 from link above reboot into recovery, mount data and system and install zip from sd card, find adrenaline engine 4.5 cm and flash it. Now reboot.
External partition will need for better experience, so if u didnt make it already do it now, have 2 easy ways without pc, from CWM under advanced have option Partition sd card, but i prefer aparted app from playstore, with aparted when instal on ur phone memory go in settings/storage and unmount sd card, now open aparted and create partition, EXT4 is best choice. Now install link2sd and open it, mount ext4 and reboot.
Now we are ready to use Gio, other important things are 2 apps, first is startupmanager, second is autostarts. That is al for now, its 3am here so ill update this thread when i can.
Thread is opened for discusions and questions
Cheers :good:
That's what I need. Thanks!
1)Can we do it on 2.3.6,stock and stock based customs?
2)Like root+cwm+ partition of ext sdcard and link2sd?
3) what are last 2 apps for?

*Yes! U can partition or sdcard regardless of the current rom that u have. But take backup of ur sdcard b4 partitioning as it will b formatted during the process.
*Link2SD & similar apps or script require init.d support in ur rom, so stock rom can't help u in this case but any custom rom will b good to use. Btw u can check whether ur rom is init.d supported, by following this path : /system/etc/init.d.
*Last two apps are : Startupmanager.apk & Autostarts.apk

Hi,
you can follow this link: http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/26/ho...om-for-android-part-1-setting-up-the-kitchen/
and build your ROM alone with kitchen and the a2sd script is implemented...
I am using that way, built ROM from stock on my SuSE, while building added scripts for Superuser, Busybox, A2SD, removed boot sound, zipaligned the aps and thats it. Later you need to prepare your SD card, you need 1st partition FAT32, 2nd partition EXT3 and you are done. I am using 700MB EXT3 for apps and believe me it is enough. Also I am using the stock SD card and there is no lag (read speed 20+MBps / write speed 2.5MBps ) there is nothing so much to write to the SD so...
just a hint, if you plan to change you SD often better search for a way to add link2sd not apps2sd!
I hope I helped
This tutorial will increase your internal memory size
my screenshots as proof in attachment!
added screenshots with english language
Requirements:
Root/Unlocked bootloader
custom recovery
-this tutorial only shows you how to install fresh version of CM 7.2 with Gapps and bigger internal storage
TESTED ON CM 7.2 AND HENSE MOD 4
other roms need testing...
This tutorial is made and tested by me on my rooted WFSFirst step:Backup your apps and settings with Titanium Backup, Make a nandroid backup and also save your whole content of SD card!
Let´s go:
1.Use POWER+HOLD DOWN to start BOOTLOADER and choose RECOVERY
2.Choose wipe data/factory reset
3.wipe cache partition
4.Advanced->Wipe dalvik cache
5.Ok,let´s go to increase internal memory size
6.Choose Advanced->Partition SD card
7.Choose new size of IM(Internal Memory),what you want (max 2GB), size depends of size your SD card, e.g I have 2GB sd card so I used only 512MB( new size of SD card is now 2GB-512MB=1,5GB)
8.In next step choose OM
9.Choose Mounts and storage->mount USB storage
10.Copy files from attachment to sd card(download CM 7.2 :here)original data2sd http://www.mediafire.com/?757066a1516tdkt
11.Now go back and choose Install zip from sdcard->choose zip from sdcard
12.Choose CM 7.2 file ,start installing
13.Next step we need to install Data2SD,which we have on SD card,so install it
14.Finally we install Gapps
15.Reboot phone
16.Restore apps from Titanium Backup
Screenshots from my phone in attachment
Enjoy it.

IF YOU LIKE THIS TUTORIAL,SAY THANKS
please test it on stock and does i need to partition my sd card before doing all this or will it do it automatically. ( btw i have a 2gb ext2 partition with link2sd )
hellnoob:you dont need to make partition before this tut like for link2sd,you will create it in recovery so delete partition for link2sd and start with clear(like with new ) Sd card
can i use both link2sd and data2sd then by keeping my ext2 partition and making a new one through recovery for data2sd??
its not necessary,to keeping ext2,because data2sd does everything instead link2sd,so data2sd is better in my opinion,
after this tutorial people are using link2sd only for deleting and uninstalling system apps, but for this activity is best Root Uninstaller
It says the data2sd zip is corrupted n doesnt let me copy it to my SD card also!
^^ yes cant even extract it

Hey Guys
My friend has a Wildfire S.. We have S-offed it.. and put custom recovery.. CWM 5.0.2.8 .. Questions are
1) Is that good or latest recovery? or something better?? like TWRP ?
2) We have drilled down to three ROM's we can see..
CM10.1 4.2.1
CM10 4.1.2
CM7 2.3.7
We had tried CM10.1 but felt a bit sluggish.. slowish.. probably needed to do something more...
which rom is good out of the three or any other??
(we don't care about the usb tethering not working or camcorder recording etc).. should not be sluggish although.. won't say it will be lightning fast either.. I know the phone is quite old and limited..
3) We saw internal memory used 100MB and left only 20MB.. obviously we need to increase that.. we have a 12GB Card.. Now..
Do we need to format to ext4 ? full Card or partition? how much? what with the rest of the partition ?
Then which one to use for data to SD by default? Do we use INT2EXT4+ as mentioned in CM10.1 guide?
Is that compatible with all the ROM's or others above
We can currently format so just want to set it up correctly first time.. dont want to get it wrong..
any answers will be great!!
Cheers
Actually you posted in wrong section.. This should goes to Q/A section.... and yeah these questions have asked many times... Try search before posting...
Anyway... there is a touch type CWM recovery available(search in development section)... but 5.0.2.8 is used by most of the users, cuz no one need more than that....
Try cm9 roms... like MIUI, Paranoid Android ICS, Speed Droid... Those are great and quite stable and of course fast...
and for SD Card tweaks.. ext2 and ext4 are best... But for cm9, cm10 ext4 partition is preferred (idk why)...
make a second partition using minitool as ext4 and make it as primary (imp - not as logical)... then flash the int2ext+ (or) int2ext4+ script after you flashed the rom...
note that int2ext4+ is only for ext4 type partition and int2ext+ is for all ext2,3,4 type partitions... You can partition you sd card upto 2 GB ... cuz it is stable limit..
Yes int2ext scripts works with all roms....
Thanks for that..
So CM10 rom is not going to be quick?? which is good in Gingerbread then?
So I should format the 12GB card into 1) primary ext4 of 2GB and 2) leave the rest as FAT32??
then
1) Wipe everything
2) Install custom ROM
3) Install int2ext+
4) reboot
5) get into recovery again
6) install gapps
7) reboot??
missing anything?? also do i need custom kernel etc?? which one if so??
Flash the JellyKing rom by kantry. It is a smooth and stable cm 10 rom. There is eoghan's kernel in that rom so you don't have to flash a kernel.
Everything else like you listed it in the last post.

1) wipe
2) format 2GB ext4 in sd card as primary and rest as fat32?? or any other?? both primary??
3) install ROM
4) install int2ext+
5) reboot
6) install gapps
will this work for any ROM ?

yeah.let me clear about partition of sdcard:
for int2ext scripts
1) FAT32
2) ext3 or ext4 (as per custom rom, some rom wont work with ext4 but cm9 and cm10 will do)
for link2sd
1)FAT32
2)ext3 or ext4
3)linux swap partition(as per your phone RAM,512 MB is enough)
int2ext scripts dont require swap partition as per their description in main post.all partition should be primary, and 1 GB is enough but if you want 2 GB its ur choice but dont partition more than 2 GB,and yeah int2ext+ script uses 100 MB internal memory for 500 MB ext3/ext4 so if you partition 2 GB,your 400 MB internal space will be consumed..
you can directly partition you sdcard with help of minipartition tool on your computer.
and for you clearance linux swap partition is work as your backup rom.some cache will save on that partition so your phone speed wont slow.
Thanks..
Considering (in terms of preference)
1) JellyKing
2) Paranoid Android
3) Speed Droid
Any suggestions between the three?
Also I am planning to use in2ext+ with the following
1) 1st Partition - Primary 1.5GB ext4 (Read maximum should be 2GB so just being safe?)
2) 2nd Partition - Primary 14.5GB FAT32
So
1) Do the partition structure and size look good ?
2) Do all these roms support int2ext+ (I think so on reading)..
3) Do I create a swap partition as well? if so which order and how much? (reading suggests 500MB).. whats the advantage? any additional thing to be used for install? how to check if it worked as it should?
So after doing that.. I should
1) Wipe everything
2) Install ROM
(reboot or not after that??)
3) install int2ext+
4) Reboot and see if rom detects internal memory properly?
5) back into recovery and install gapps and reboot
Does all of this sound good??
Need to do this in an hr or 2 so quick reply will be appreciated
Cheers

sorry for late reply but my internet sucks.
first install speedroid.its fast,stable.i m using it s.:cyclops:
another reasons are jellyking is based on JB,which has many little bugs despite camcorder and all.and paranoid has dockbar and dpi size is very small so i dont like it.but its upto you what you want.
and use int2ext4+
its very fast and better than int2ext+ and yeah all cm9 and cm10 roms supports it.
partitions are good, you can use 1.5 GB ext4 but keep it 1 GB for caution purposes.might you dont need 1.5 GB belive me.
and yeah swap partition isn't need in int2ext4+ scripts but you have 16 GB memory card so keep swap partition 512 MB.
swap is work as backup RAM,its 512 MB because wildfire s has 512 MB ram.
steps:
1)wipe everything
2)install rom
3)install int2ext4+
4)go to "mount and storage"
5)format /sd-ext (its needed to format your sd-ext partition)
6)reboot
its take little long time to boot because we installed int2ext4+ script.then you can check internal memory.
then reboot in recovery again and install gapps.
and yeah if you wanted to install speeddroid, gapps already installed in it so no need to flash it.
need quick help.. have done everything and shows internal memory fine and have put speed droid
but i am installing gapps-jb-20120726-lite-rebased.zip and reboot but not a single gapps showing in phone.. it flashes fine as well..
partition
1) fat32 12GB
2) ext4 - 2000MB
3) swap - 500MB
using int2ext4+

Good afternoon guys,
My brother's girlfriend has a Gio, and she's having some problems with the phone.
She asked me if I could install a stable ROM and if there's any chance that I could increase the space to install apps to the SD Card.
I've already did this, but the ROMs were bad, and the partition wasn't recognized (I had to install App2SD and then I had to move every app to the SD Card, manually).
What ROM do you recommend? It has to be stable and fast. And how can I make the partition work? Like if it was internal storage.
Thanks a lot.

Firstly create a partition(Recommend 512MB) through cwm5 then:
If ur using cm roms I recommend S2E, U can download this in play store then tick every option and reboot
for non-cm roms use Link2sd.
when launching the app first time u will need to choose which ext the partition is. Choose ext2 and reboot then link all apps
press thanks if i helped

Hey guys,
First my compliments for the beautiful ROM of WoH! I've upgraded my old Desire from Cyanogen 7 to WoH's PA 4.2.2 for my girlfriend and I am jealous.. it looks better than CM 10 on my HTC One!
Problem
But unfortunately, I am running into problems. The problem is that after installing the ROM and switching on a2sd, any download from the play store greets me with 'error 491'.
What I have tried
Usual solutions from Google and this forum are:
- Remove google account (Accounts, google account remove), reboot, readd
- Clear data of Play store, reboot readd, reboot
- Clear user data / factory reset, ad2sd install
- Tried both YourZgapps XS Normal and Multi DPI versions
I have tried these to no avail, the error persists.
What I exactly have done
- Formatted the 4 GB SD into 2 primary partitions, 3073 MB FAT32 and 1023 MB ext4, in windows using MiniTool
- Put the ROM, and GAPPS on the FAT32 partition by SD cardreader
- Boot into recovery, twice performed 'wipe data/factory reset' and 'wipe cache'
- Install from zip, installed ROM and GAPPS
- Reboot, open terminal, did:
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
a2sd install, choose Y -> N -> Y
Click to collapse
- Reboot
Error when trying to install any app from the Play Store, exact error is '<Appname> “could not be downloaded due to an error 491.”'
Did I make an obvious mistake which I ma failing to see? Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you for your quick answer, mister WoH! The link points at the MediaProvider package for Android 4.3.2., while the ROM I installed is Android 4.2.2., is this alright? I'll give it a try anyway :good:
Would you say 4.3.2. is better (more stable or so) than 4.2.2.?
Didn't realize you were at 4.2, sorry.
I'd go for 4.3
Edit:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2402514 might help you for 4.2.2
So apparently I installed 4.3 as 4.2.2. ROM (in that thread, the link points to the 4.3! ), so no surprise that GApps didnt work properly.
So, 4.3.. I didn't find instructions in the OP, so I gave it a go:
- Full Wipe
- From Recovery, installed in sequence:
- pa_bravo-3.99-RC2-20131011.zip
- pa_bravo-3.99-RC2-20131011-fix-s.zip
- pa_gapps-full-4.3-20131010-signed.zip
- Reboot
After reboot, internal memory is completely full, even though during the installation PA GApps says it moved GApps to sd-ext.
Terminal su / a2sd tells me:
a2sd=apps dc2sd=dalvik-cache a2sd=appdata
so I guess a2sd should work.
What did I do wrong?
Aaaand btw: Happy Birthday!
I believe this is your problem:

Do not use windows software to make linux partitions. It only works on very rare occasions.
My bet is that your partitions are not properly aligned, hence why A2SD doesn't work.
Backup your sd card (just copy the visible FAT32 contents to PC) and repartition with gparted or 4EXT recovery only, nothing else.
Copy stuff back to sd, then full wipe and reinstall ROM again to be on the safe side.
Nice tutorial, will use next time!
So far I just had to execute su | mount -o,rw /system | a2sd install Y N Y, and it works.
Now everything seems to be working, ie. downloading from Play store and the extended memory.
WoH and eddiehk6, thank you for your time!
I have two small and short remaining questions:
- How much memory should be indicated at Settings, Storage, Internal Memory?
Currently it shows something like 170 MB used / 110 MB free, and that with a sd-ext of 1 GB.
- Is 4EXT recovery much better than CWM recovery? Worth the upgrade?
Thanks again!

If you are still on stock hboot (which I'm assuming you are) you should have 148mb of internal storage. If you ran the "y,n,y" a2sd configuration, your only your app data will be left on the internal memory. The apks and dalvik will be moved to the ext partition.
And yes 4ext is worth the upgrade from cwm. It does everything that cwm can do and includes some other useful features, plus its touch based so you no longer have to mash your hardware keys.
