WHAT YOU WILL NEED > > > Chainfire's CF-AutoRoot & RECOVERY TWRP . Also, just in case, Samsung USB Drivers.
-> ROM N900TUVUFOB6 Can be downloaded from [HERE] (SamMobile)
INSTALLING ROM . . .
STEP -3 -> Make sure you have already the Samsung USB Drivers installed; if not... Download them from the link above and install them.
STEP -2 -> Unzip the ROM (file name N900TUVUFOB6_N900TTMBFOB6_TMB.zip) & the CF-ROOT File (CF-Auto-Root-hltetmo-hltetmo-smn900t.zip)
STEP -1 -> You will now have a program called Odin3 v3.07.exe... Run the program as Administrator (Right click, run as administrator) Once you open Odin3 v3.07.exe you will have a screen with only 2 checkmarks on it:
ON THE PHONE -> Then Turn OFF Your Phone and Turn it back ON by pressing POWER + VOLUME DOWN + HOME button together at the same time. A Warning Screen will come up; press Volume Up button to enter DOWNLOAD MODE.
> > > NOW CONNECT PHONE TO PC VIA USB < < <
STEP 0 -> Make sure your program looks like the picture above... Now click on PDA and browse for the file N900TUVUFOB6_N900TTMBFOB6_N900TUVUFOB6_HOME.tar.md5.
>>> Now, If you are a 100% sure that your program looks like the picture above... Click START
READ THIS!!!
*** IMPORTANT NOTE #1:
AFTER THE ROM IS FLASHED, THE PHONE WILL REBOOT AND YOU WILL SEE A BLUE BAR FOR A FEW SECONDS, AFTER THIS BLUE BAR DISAPPEARS, THE PHONE WILL REBOOT AGAIN; AT THIS MOMENT YOU MAY WANT TO BE READY AND BE ALREADY PRESSING VOLUME DOWN + HOME BUTTONS. THE IDEA BEHIND THIS, IS TO CATCH DOWNLOAD MODE BEFORE THE OS (LOLLIPOP) ACTUALLY BOOTS FOR THE FIRST TIME. THIS WILL SOLVE THE CF-AUTO-ROOT OR TWRP NOT STICKING REPORTED BY SOME USERS
-> The program will flash the ROM for a few moments then the phone will reboot by itself...
-> You now have New LOLLIPOP v5 TMO ROM, as soon as you finish looking at the new ROM, TURN OFF PHONE AGAIN > > > CONTINUE . . .
ROOTING LOLLIPOP v5 N900TUVUFOB6 ROM . . . (N900TUVUFOB6)

-> Android is Rooted,...!*! You now have a Rooted LOLLIPOP v5 TMO ROM.

Great guide, well layout and easy to follow.
Does this method trip the 0x1 Knox flag? if yes, is there any known way to get root on KitKat without tripping the Knox flag?

If you flash a custom recovery, it will trip the Knox counter
^ So yes it will. However, T-Mobile doesn't care that much about it as some of us have found out.
TOTALLY understand if you're unsure about it, and should wait for a method that doesn't trip the knox when rooting. It won't happen tomorrow or the next day, so be patient.

Quick question does this 'Wipe' Your device (Data Partition)? I have used CF-Auto Root in the Past so my Warranty has been tripped, does this cause any issues?

OP Your step five is wrong. It says the same file as step four. I know you mean to flash Philz Recovery, but just pointing it out.

sorry, i know this is going to come off sounding wrong, and really there is no way of asking without it sounding wrong.
Did you read anything on this forum at all?
I spent the better part of yesterday answering and making Q&A threads, and most of the other people have also. I mean seriously people, i'm seeing the same question asked 2 and 3 times on the same page. This how to guide was made because people are refusing to read, and then you guys are not even reading the whole guide. You want quality work, got it, you have questions, got it, and they are all valid questions. But the valid questions have been answered.
There's a update Q&A and update discussion thread in the T-Mobile Note 3 General Section. in the 15 pages each release put out yesterday, there are numerous answers to anything you can think of.
But please search before asking a question.

EZbase, is a fully deodexed and zipaligned pre rooted odin / heimdall image for people wanting to move from stock ROM's to custom ROM's. It used by a lot of people for a recovery image if it all goes wrong, simply flash this and you on a stock Samsung image with root and 2e recovery.
Still testing the new recovery & kernel so attached is a copy of EZbase with stock CWM Recovery, until the new recovery has been 100% tested!

This is a Step by Step guide how to flash EZbase to your Samsung Galaxy S.
There are lots of different ways to flash ROMs to your Samsung Galaxy S, Personally I use heimdall but thats because I use *nix. I find this one to be easiest and fastest for windows users.
If you complete this guide there the worlds your oyster, simply copy different mods/ROMs to the SD Card and flash directly from there going back to your base at any time should you need to revert back.
If you have any issues what so ever, the best place to begin is a clean EZbase flash.
NOTE: No root or anything is required, you can simply do this on a stock Samsung ROM.

Warning!
There have been many reports about a problematic batch of Samsung Galaxy S phones that are not able to boot into recovery or download mode. If you are going to flash a ROM please make sure you can enter these modes before doing ANYTHING. See the 3-button combo fix if you cannot access Recovery Mode.

Android Debug Bridge (a.k.a. adb) - http://nfye.eu/EZbase/i9000/adb.zip
Download all the EZOdin, EZbase CSC, PDA, PHONE and PIT if you do not have Samsung Kies installed, The Samsung USB Drivers will be required to. For simplicity sake place all the files into a single directory e.g. c:\toolkit\ however they can be placed where you like, hopefully in the future I might get all the requirements into an installer.
If you do not have Samsung Kies installed please install the Samsung USB Drivers and make sure your device is recognised by the OS. Once all the pre requisites have been fulfilled, then please continue to Step One or Step Two. If Samsung Kies is used please make sure you kill all Samsung Kies related services that are running (kies, tray agent, etc.)
Check that your phone has sufficient power, unplug your phone if it is plugged into USB or wall charger. Type *#0228# in to the dialler and check Voltage is at least 3800(mV).
Flash EZbase
Repartition is not mandatory, but it does not hurt to repartition the phone.
Start Phone in Download Mode (No Cable Attached)
Open EZOdin.
- Check Re-Partition
- Select EZbase.pit as PIT
- Select EZbase-PDA-XWJS3.tar.md5 as PDA
- Select EZbase-PHONE-XXJVE.tar.md5 as PHONE
- Select EZbase-CSC-XXJV1.tar.md5 as CSC
Connect Phone with USB Cable - Once ID:COM is yellow you are safe to continue.
Select Start
Complete, now wait for your phone to fully start-up before you continue with anything.
Install Custom ROM
Copy the ROM onto the Internal SD Card. This can be done via adb or placing your phone in USB debug mode and mounting the USB as storage.
Reboot the phone in recovery mode
Select "Install ZIP File"
Select "choose zip from sdcard"
Select "insanity-0.x.x.zip"
Select "Yes - Install"
Wait a while it installs the new ROM.
Select "Reboot Phone"
NOTE: As this is a de-odex`d ROM, First boot will take some time.
Other Information
ADB - Android Debug Bridge
To use the Android Debug Bridge you need to enable Debugging Mode first. Once enabled you will be able to use ADB and do a number of things.
Enable Debugging Mode
Press "Menu"
Select "Settings"
Select "Applications"
Select "Development"
Check "USB debugging"
Select "Yes"
Connect the phone to the USB cable and plug the other end directly into the PC.
NOTE: The computer should start installing the necessary ADB drivers. A total of three devices will be installed (Samsung Android Composite ADB Interface, Samsung Android USB Modem, Samsung USB Composite Device.
You should also now see two icons in the notification area.
Mass Storage
It is possible to mount the internal SD and microSD card as storage on your local pc, this is useful if you do not wish to use adb to copy files around.
If you wish to use your device as Mass Storage:
Pull down the notification area
Select "USB connected"
Select "Connect USB storage"
You should now be able to see your device in explorer
You should always safely eject the storage
Select "Turn Off"
Download Mode
To enter download mode, you hold the Volume Down + Home + Power. See image bellow:
Recovery Mode
To enter download mode, you hold the Volume Up + Home + Power See image bellow:

xvi32 - http://nfye.eu/EZbase/i9000/xvi32.exe
P-SBL.tar.md5 - http://nfye.eu/EZbase/i9000/P-SBL.tar.md5
How To Check is Phone is Compatible:
adb shell
$ su (a superuser request will be displayed on the phone screen, accept it).
# dd if=/dev/block/bml1 of=/sdcard/bml1.dump
# exit
C:\adb pull /sdcard/bml1.dump
Open the bml1.dump file with XVI32.
- Search (in ASCII Mode) for OFNI.
If the block reads "[email protected]" just follow the tutorial below, as it is safe to fix.
NOTE: If it reads "x0" then STOP as this FiX will BRICK your phone if applied.
Open EZOdin
- Select the "P-SBL.tar.md5" as PDA file.
- Check "Bootloader Update"
Connect Phone with USB Cable and place phone in download mode (ADB method)
Once "ID:COM" is yellow you are safe to continue.
Select "Start"
NOTE: It should take three seconds to complete. After the update phone will reboot automatically. Do this at your own risk!

It was ready a while back, we was about to do it and then a new firware came out and it got put on the back burner
My phone was on 6.6 but as it needed testing I redid it as per the written instructions just so we knew it worked 100%
IF people follow the guide then they SHOULD get a 100% working insanity rom with no hassle.. (we live in hope )

Thanks for this, it's a nice initiative. I've been doing the same, just with different files from samfirmwares + I've needed to install a kernel to get easy access to root + cwm so this lets me skip that part
One thing though, you might want to either put this in your guide, or alternatively modify the app, but that Odin you have is version 1.7.. which has given me trouble (Windows 7, 32bit) in the past. Odin 1.82 works fine so just as a tip for people who might have problems getting odin to work
Aside from that this is a great idea!

odin either not connecting or just standing there doing nothing, never found out why but after using 1.82 its worked fine so I never felt like going back
and your files work with the standard odin anyway so it's not a big deal

Yes I have has similar like that happen as it goes, re installing the drivers normally fixed it
Anyway, glad you like it.. hopefully more will find the benifits of EZBase

For the record, rooting causes a violation of the garantuee policy of Samsung. Furthermore there is a possibility of demaging the Android-system(bricking). This has not happend as far as I know, but it should be mentioned. As advanced user it is usually always possible to recover the system, but still, just to let you know.
So whoever takes the risk, takes the responsibility
Advice: Use a PC without any drivers or software from other Android devices, this may causes conflicts with the drivers in the ADB.
Rooting
Rooting via Recovery mode(SD card)
Note: This instructions is written for the stock recovery. It has been reported that custom recoverys are causing problems during rooting. If you use a custom recovery which causes problems, please flash the stock recovery via ODIN first(scroll down to Other). Than apply the rooting

4. Run the runme-UNROOT.bat-file as Administrator and press any key.
5. Now you will have to wait for 3-6 Minuten. The program will have to process all the necessary steps.
6. If you get the message "ALL DONE!!!" you device should be successfully unrooted.

Can you let us know which version you are using ? Settings->About phone->Build number
As far as I know there is a build version, I don't know which it was, which is not rootable with Doomlord.
EDIT: Rooting via Recovery works.
BTW: Have you tried the manual method ?

The provided instruction does not work on LA2 firmware. You still can get root from Recovery-Mode using update.zip with busybox, su and etc.
The root instruction is almost the same as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1253707.
I have used attahed files to get root. Thanks Dronson from 4pda for the provided files.

Hi, thanks for this!!
Just to be clear, can this method be used with Custom RZRecovery, or only with Stock Recovery?
Also, has anyone tried the Root tool contained in the RZRecovery Plugins package:
http://rzdroid.com/ftp/recovery/gingerbread/plugins/RZR-plugins-bundle-update.zip
PLUGINS
This bundle contains 4 plugins:
Disable/enable Dalvik bytecode verification in Android
Disable OTA downloads in Android
Fix Permissions
Root the installed ROM
After installing this update, there will be a new menu in Extras called Plugins.

I tested the Rooting via Recovery and it works like a charm. I managed to root the latest firmware (XXLA2) that was unrootable with Doomlord or manual method.

AFAIK, XME 2.3.6 can be rooted ONLY via Recovery Mode, thus use that method

My SGW comes with 2.3.5. Will the above rooting work ?
Also, which method out of the 2 is the best to use, for flashing future ROMs and kernels etc.
How to update from 2.3.5 to 2.3.6 ?

First do the Update via Over The Air(search for it) or Samsung Kies.
After successfully updating use the first method rooting via recovery. This works for now and could work in future.

Just installed Kies.
Someone recommended that i use Odin instead of Kies for upgrading from 2.3.5 to 2.3.6 ?
Would there be a problem if i upgrade my stock 2.3.5 to 2.3.6 via Kies instead of Odin for rooting and then flashing of future roms ?
i just bought Galaxy W with 2.3.6 already installed. ive tried many ways to root this device but no luck (

CWM is for flashing custom ROMs
wow cool.
but how to take a backup from my original ROM or Firmware ?!
@JAZMY
reboot to CWM.. turn off, then turn on by pressing vol up + home + power.. you will see SAMSUNG logo, you can release those buttons..
then use:
- home button : to select
- vol up : up
- vol down : down
- power button : go back
before backup, you can select your backup format, tar or dup.. with tar, you'll get the files larger, but there's only 11 files there.. and faster for copying to pc.. for dup, smaller backup (but if you want to do many backups, if just one backup, of course larger).. but hundreds of folders and files, and of course slower for copying to pc
how to select:
- backup & restore ~> choose backup format ~> tar or dup
then go to:
- backup & restore ~> backup or backup to external sd card..
- wait for progress
- back, reboot system now
if you want to move your backup to your pc, just take the "clockworkmod" folder in sdcard or external sd to your pc.. rar or zip it recommended due file safety, but do not compress to high, better do not compress (compress level = store)..
THIS THREAD IS JUST FOR ASKING ABOUT FLASHING CWM WITH ODIN, NOT ABOUT BACKUP OR ETC..

Hi! I have successfully flashed CWM 6.0.1.2 on my device but recently I found out that CWM has updated to 6.0.3.0. Is it safe for me to update my CWM to the latest version using this steps? If I messed up can I just downgrade to 6.0.1.2 by just following your instructions? Im a super noob please help me..
Via terminal emulator is the easiest way. Just download an adb version on cwm thread, extract it with root explorer and follow this step: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1924846

thanks
but i have a question
which one is better?
CWM or TWRP
why did i got Fake Hardware in kernel or firmware doesn't correspond to phone! on my a3000?
thanks
Man ,
really really big thanks i was tired from searching for a CWM really you are awsome
My A3000 is not recognised by MTK Droid Tools ...
Downloaded drivers v1.2 zip file and extracted.
Downloaded MTK Droid Tools v2.5.3 zip file and extracted.
And, followed exactly, as given in the write up (page 1 of this topic).
A3000 sensed in Device Manager and displayed. 2 Drivers got updated.
However, MTK droid tools is NOT SENSING the device.
It still says "the device isn't revealed. Connect or reconnect a cable" on the bottom most line of the
MTK droid tools window and the small box is blank. The status continues, even after the A3000 is
rebooted or the USB cable is removed and reconnected.
What to do now ?
My A3000 is already a rooted device with Framaroot.
Any guidance ?
Just flash my CWM v6 (can be found in the original development section). It's easier to install and up-to-date. Use mobileuncle tools to flash it.

Thanks a lot .... CWM installed ... But, lost ROOT ...
Thanks to this wonderful step-by-step guide, I have successfully
installed CWM on my new A3000.
Taken a full backup by using CWM and saved it on SD Card.
But, the flip side is that the device is now NOT ROOTED.
When I run the Root Checker, it says `Sorry ! This deice does not
have proper root access.'
How to get the root back ?
I have tried Framaroot option (like I did it for the first time), but
still no luck in rooting it again.
Any ideas ?
ROOT restored ...
As I said earlier, after successful installation of CWM Recovery, my A3000 lost it's ROOT.
After a lot of experimentation and uninstalls/installs, I am able to get back the ROOT.
Uninstalled ROM Manager and Super User. Disabled Root Explorer, MobileuncleTools and
another Superuser. Also uninstalled new version of Framaroot and installed an old version.
And, separately installed SuperSU.
I follow the steps and I installed CWM and I backed up my device, after some days I wanted to restore my backup, but when it finished, nothing was recovered but original ROM and apps like factory reset !!! what the hell ?!?!

Is there a way to do it without computer?
Sent from my IdeaTab A3000-F using XDA Free mobile app
Hi, i have Vodafone Smart tab 3, which is based Lenovo A3000-H, only with different rom. I want to backup Vodafone rom so i can flash it and send to technical service if device have any fault.
So i tried this way to have a backup, i need a full backup on my computer to flash it later so i clicked "Backup" button, but i get a warning, title is: "ATTENTION THE SD card isn't found!" and below it there's a message says: "System and userdata won't backup! To continue?"
What's this, do i need an SD card? I can see system folder in my backup folder. And how can i understand my backup is working? In our local forum, somebody says backup needs to be around 1.3gb but mine is only 1.18gb.
What can i do for this? I'm waiting your opinions.

5. Now Open Odin3.exe, Click On "AP", Select "MODIFIED_TMO_SPR_N930PVPU1APH3_REV00_ENGBOOT_FIRMWARE.tar.md5", And Then Click On "Start". Wait For A Couple Of Minutes For The Modified N930PVPU1APH3 Engboot Firmware To Finish Installing.
6. Once Complete Your Phone Will Automatically Reboot Into Recovery Mode Where You Will See An Updating + Erasing Screen. Wait A Few Seconds So It Can Do It's Thing And Your Device Will Automatically Reboot Again. Next Is To Wait Patiently For Almost 20 Minutes On The Samsung Bootanimation Screen Until You End Up At The Setup Wizard.
7. While At The Beginning Of The Setup Wizard, Don't Press Anything! Next Thing Your Going To Do Is Root Your Device. Now Go Into Your ADB Directory First Thing You Might Want To Do Which Is Optional Is Open My Modified root.sh Shell Script That's Inside The sun7 Folder And In The Bloatware Section You Can Remove Any Of The Hashtags "#" To Remove Certain Applications That I Have Left Not To Be Removed By Default. Make Sure To Check Out The Information I Have Left Inside Of The Shell Script For The Users. Once Your Done With That Save Your Edits And Now Open The CommandPrompt.bat That You Have Placed In Your ADB Directory And Copy And Paste The Following Commands That You See Below One By One To Get Your Device Rooted.
Code:
adb push sun7 /data/local/tmp/su
adb shell chmod 0777 /data/local/tmp/su/*
adb shell
cd /data/local/tmp/su
su
./root.sh
After The Last Command You Need To Wait A Couple Of Seconds And Your Device Will Automatically Reboot. If It Gets Stuck During The Package Installation Process You Will Need To Go To Your Device And Press On "Accept" From The "Allow Google To Regularly Check Device Activity" Dialog Message. Once Rebooted Now Skip Everything From The Setup Wizard Until You Reach The TouchWiz Homescreen.
8. Next Place graceqltetmo_N930TUVU1APGC_Stock_Deodexed.zip Into Your Phone's Internal Or MicroSD Card Storage Until The File Transfer Completes. Now Open The FlashFire App From The App Drawer And Give It Root Privileges. Now In The Actions Menu Press The "+" Button Then "Flash ZIP or OTA". From Your Internal Or MicroSD Card Storage Find And Choose graceqltetmo_N930TUVU1APGC_Stock_Deodexed.zip And When In The Options Menu Make Sure Only "Mount /system read/write" Is Ticked And Then From The Top Right Corner Press The "Check Mark" Button. Now Scroll To The Bottom And Press "FLASH" And Hit "OK".
9. Now Your Phone Will Automatically Reboot And Then FlashFire Will Install The Rom. Once It's Done Installing Your Device Will Reboot Again, Now You Will End Up With A Black Boot Screen With No LED Indicator Light. Next Is To Wait Patiently For Almost 20 Minutes On This Black Boot Screen Until You End Up At The Setup Wizard. While At The Beginning Of The Setup Wizard, Don't Press Anything! Now Repeat "Step 7" To Root Your Device Again. Once Rebooted You Are All Done Your Device Is Now Rooted Again And You Can Now Restore Any Of Your Applications And Data And You Don't Need To Install Busybox Since My Modified su.img Has Already Got It Placed Inside The Image File And Extracts It To su/xbin. Also My Modified root.sh Shell Script Will Add More Tweaks To The Rom Adding Init.d Support, Setting Kernel To Permissive, And Disabling Dynamic Voltage Frequency Scaling!
Note #1 - Turn Off Automatic Updates For SuperSU In The Google Play Store Because Whenever There's A New Version For It And If You Update It, Root Will Break.
Note #2 - If Your Going To Use S-Health Don't Allow Google Play Store Or The Galaxy Apps Store To Update It Because The Latest Version Of The Application Checks For Root And Breaks The App. If It Gets Updated, Just Remove Any Traces Of It From system/priv-app/SHealth4 And data/app/com.sec.android.app.shealth-1 And Then Install The S-Health App From The Link Provided - Click Here

@jovy23. Thank you so much for yet another option for our Note 7's!
Can you tell me if this is compatible with xposed?
Is this still stable? I know with the rooting and all that good stuff of the s7 series, root cause quite a few instability issues.
v.v and nice, knox does not get trip! Anyone able to confirm samsung pay still works?
May just give this a spin when I get home...instead of exchanging for s7 edge lmao
edit: ah still based on sprint rooting system i see

Everything Works Wi-Fi Calling, VOLTE, Even Bluetooth Works I Even Paired One Of My Bluetooth Headsets And Even After A Reboot It Automatically Re-Paired And It's Still Connected No Bugs Whatsoever This Is 100% Deodexed And Not Ran Into One Bug Yet! Even Though I Always Thought Benchmarks Is Bull In My Opinion, I Always Get Above 143,000 Antutu Benchmark Scores!
Oh yeah by the way even though i don't use Xposed, but for testing purposes even Xposed works!
Thanks for this @jovy23 any difference in how the phone reacts as compare to stock, is it more fluid less stutter

It's super stable there is no instability issues. Samsung pay will not work because of root im guessing latest samsung pay update should now check for both triggered knox and root even while i was on the odexed firmware root method samsung pay or any of the other paying apps didn't work as well. Flashing the modified tar file will likely flash the sprint firmware but the step after that your installing the tmobile firmware over it so there is no sprint system once your device boots to the setup wizard the only thing that's sprint is the kernel everything else is tmobile based.

Your welcome. :good:
And by the way just to let everyone know i have found a way to get the rom to install from the internal storage as well! Internal storage root method will be the main method so no more MicroSD card instructions from now on which should be somewhat easier. Once im done testing, I will most likely release the instructions tomorrow or by the weekend.
