[Q] Cannot Update to Kit Kat - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I'm rooted with TWRP and I cannot update my Tmob Note 3 to Kit Kat.
This is what I get...(see attachement)
Does anybody else have this issue or can give me guidance on what to do?
I do not want to ROM my device at this time, but if unrooting with SuperUser is all I need to do then let me know.
As well how do I regain root once I'm on Kit Kat.
This may not be the best place to post this, but humor me...

I'm in the same boat. Is there a way to simply use Odin to reflash without doing a full wipe of my device? Where did you get the required files for Odin?

I've successfully flashed to KK while I was on Tweaked ROM. It flashed over the ROM but was not rooted. Does that sound weird to anyone or is it normal? Lol

Am I the only one who has been able to download the update while rooted? I can't find the thread, but I did it on my wife's phone, had to use Wanam Xposed to trick the server.
But, when the update downloads and I reboot to install, it goes straight to TWRP and that's it.

Rooting after OTA Update?

I'm a real noob at this but read up as much as I can.
I rooted my T-mo GS3 using this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1735561
with CWM.
Now I want to have the update. I'm assuming I can unroot my phone and then do the OTA update, but what methods are available to root the phone after the OTA update? My wife also has one of these phones, and has already done the OTA, but hasn't rooted her phone yet, so I really need this info for both phones. Could I use this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771687 to root both our phones? Do I need to unroot and reset the flash counter on my rooted phone before doing that? Does that update included the latest radio update for these phones?
Thanks!
I'm in the same situation as you. And, this is the first time I root my phone.
I read a lot on the forum but it's kind of confuse me.

True... Yea you can root with the no trip method. It's stock rom with root so it won't trip count. After that download Rom Manager and add cwm thru there or goo app for twrp recovery

But, if i already root my phone with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1735561 can i still get the OTA update? This is for future reference, let's say the official JB. (i already have the recent OTA t mobile update before i rooted my phone)

I'm not sure. It might work or not maybe even thru Kies. Just depends cuz some were able to update last ota with no problems. I know that if you have custom recovery the OTA will fail unless you have stock recovery with root and use voodoo root keeper to try and keep root. The easiest way will be Odin back to stock and apply jb ota once released then root it back once someone confirms a method or wait till a dev releases a full rom.

You mentioned a radio 'fix'. But its not a fix that I am aware of. Just an update. As long as you update via odin or kies with the official ota or firmware you will get the FULL update. This means other partitions will receive patches as well. If you update only by flashing a rooted rom using cwm or twrp you will NOT get the updates to the other partitions, including the radio. (You can flash the radio separately of course but would still not get the updates to other partitions).
You can preserve root using the ota rootkeeper, or after updating, reroot using another method.
My recommendation is to update via kies or odin with official firmware and then reroot. (Using ota rootkeeper is up to you).
Hope this helps clear some things up a little for you guys.

Hello
I have rooted my Galaxy Note II and installed CWM for the recovery. I am also running a stock ROM. There is a new OTA update, and before I am going to do it, quick question: when I update, will I still have root access or will it break it somehow? I'm running the Stock 4.1.1

Hello,
I too had root, CWM recovery and stock ROM on my note 2 and was able to successfully take the OTA update to 4.1.2 and retain root access. I obviously have a stock recovery now after the upgrade but root is still present! I did have SuperSU (paid for version) that has the Survive OTA update mode and it worked like a charm! One thing to note is that it was not obvious at first that root was retained.
Immediately after the update, my root access failed when trying to use Titanium backup. Also, other apps requiring root access were failing as well. So, I went into SuperSU and ticked the "enable Super User" mode off and then on again and rebooted the phone.
After the reboot I noticed that Titanium Backup had root access and then verified the rest of my apps were working as well.
Three cheers to the creators of these wonderful programs.....I'm very glad I paid for the updates and got the added functionality!!
Good luck to all and hopefully it works as well for you as it did for me!!

Pretty much. Or you can use Skies to do recovery to the lastest firmware, then root again.

Been searching for last hour or two and this is only thread I've found this specific topic. Just got S4 today coming from a GNex so somethings are new to me.
Is there a detailed instructions somewhere on how to do this?
I'm also rooted on M919UVUAMDB and trying to figure out the best way to upgrade to MDL so that I can re-root again.
Install Kies. Under Tools setting, select recovery and put your phone to download mode. Let Kies do the rest.

Thanks for clarifying. Just to double check, would cwm recovery affect the kies firmware recovery process?
No. Kies would wipe it off during recovery process and install the latest firmware.

lol I've searched around too, but made my own conclusions. ahha
Not attempting to promote any particular roms but Wicked v2 is running mdl update with the mdb modem and radio and smoother than silk on s4, Revolt requires manualy updating with setuidremoval but has a great writeup how to do so as does Infamous S4, I personally can confirm Revolt and Wicked are working flawless as long as the minimal theming currently in both is fine with you.

[Q] best way to root tmobile note 2 sgh-t889

I just got a note 2 and I would like to know what's the best way to root my device without any problems?
If you just got it then I'm going to assume you don't have any important data!
Flash a stock rom with root injected! It's literally a stock touchwiz 4.1.2 rom with superSU. It always doesn't mess up your counter and you can get official OTAs from T-mobile.
The link is here.
What ungraph said. I ran mrRobinson's injected rom for about 7 months before I ended up on tweaked. It works pretty well.
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement

[Q] M919N Any Custom ROM? CWM Recovery? Kit Kat?

Hello developers!
I looking around the web and searching for the MetroPCS Galaxy S4 variant for custom roms, CWM recovery or KitKat update... Seems like this S4 its The ONLY variant doesn't have non of that only deodexed one 4.2.2 JB. Any news about this model?
Hey man any tmo rom or recovery will work just fine for the m919n. Just use autoroot to get it rooted, then install any t mobile recovery then of course the rom of your choice. I know this works because I'm using a M919N model S4 and it works perfectly with t mobile roms etc.. don't use it with sprint or at&t though. Hope this helped.

Try flashing whatever stock firmware you had before the update, via ODIN. If that doesn't go through then just flash the newest firmware ( I'm guessing was the OTA)

My suggestion for what ROM to flash is whatever ROM you want to flash. Take a few minutes and read about each of them, it's not that hard.
