4.4.2 CarbonRom- Lost IMEI/Signal after flashing latest nightly - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

As title states, i lost my IMEI/carrier signal after flashing the latest nightly (2-27), and haven't been able to get it back
I tried to inject my imei backup, but using the *#7482# to enter qualcomm usb settings hasn't worked, not sure why (maybe it was changed in kk?)
I tried flashing a modem, but i can't find the appropriate kitkat one for my phone. the only one i found was for jellybean.
Any ideas guys?

I can't seem to get any dialer codes to work

If you are on ATT Flash d2att instead of d2lte

There is no KK modem because there is no official KK ROM.
Try flashing the latest AT&T modem.

If flashing modem doesnt work. You need to restore back to stock then make sure everything works. Reboot back to recovery and do a backup of your rom and EFS. I use Philz recovery. After you make ur back up go ahead and flash custom rom.
If you did backup your EFS in recovery. Just reboot back to recovery and just restore only the EFS. Save you from reflashing back to stock.

[Q] Question about DMF2 Rom

Some questions here...
I have just rooted my stock DMF2 rom and got efs backup. Then i flashed the latest perseus kernel.
I wanna flash the latest omega rom but i read somewhere that if i flash a non DMF2/ME6 based rom, i will get a imei error.
Is there anyway i can flash omega rom without getting an imei error?
Thanks for helping and sorry for my english.

well try it yourself since you have a backup.
Make sure that also have a backup of your Modem and Build, (found in settings under Baseband (modem) and Build Number).
because your EFS backup would work 100% if both of these were the same when you're restoring.
If things didn't go on well, then you can reflash the ROM.
in case the backup wouldn't work (works once then no signal on next restart), then what you have to do is as follows:
1-Flash the ROM that has the same build number as the one you had when you backed up your EFS
2-Restore your EFS and restart
3-Restart again, if there's no signal, then restore your EFS again and restart once.
4-Downgrade your Baseband to any version (I prefer DME4).
5-Perform an OTA update (OTA works if you had status normal and an IMEI and phone signal, so you need your EFS to be restored and the signal working, for the status normal you need 0 flash counts and Full Wipe of data through VolUp+Home+Power).
6-If you have ROOT, then don't touch Install or Install all! click on later.
7-Get Odin Mobile Pro (you need the Pro Version). and run it.
8-Click on "OTA/ update.zip". point it to "/Cache/Fota(might find random numbers here)/update.zip". In case you can't find the file, just use Root Explorer, and copy the update.zip to anywhere on the SdCard0 or extSdCard, and Point Odin to it.
9-Check the EveRoot Option and Odin Pro.
10-Flash the ROM.
now you'll have the same build number, but your baseband is now updated correctly. Just restore the EFS one more time and restart and it should work.
Note: If you may tell me your current baseband and buildnumber, I could save you time by giving you my files if I have the same as you.

Backup IMEI or forget about it?

I wanted to get all of your opinion on backing up the IMEI.
My situation is, I had rooted last year with the s3 toolkit. 1st rom I flashed was paranoid android then now i'm always flashing Task's AOKP. I'm currently on an older release of his rom (5-21-13) and i've probably flashed it a dozen times without any problems.
My question is, should I continue flashing this rom even though I have not backed up my IMEI or EFS folder or should I flash back to stock right away then, backup IMEI/EFS and continue flashing task's rom? Are the chances high of losing IMEI even though i've flashed the same rom for at least a year now?
I have an AT&T SGH-I747 with baseband DLK3.
In addition, if I were to flash back to stock, can I just use this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2161667
Unfortunately the download link is no longer there so would anyone have a copy?
Also, would this be the best / easiest way to backup the IMEI as of right now? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804117
Thank you!:cyclops:

I don't know about backing up your IMEI but if you want to switch back to stock 4.1.1 I recommend using this instead: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2363882
It worked like a charm when I was on LK3

Unfortunately EFSpro will only let me do the option under backup on EFS Professional to backup the tz, efs, modemst1, and modemst2. Qualcomm crashes due to me currently being on AOSP. Looks like you must be on stock in order to use that. Any tools that will work for other roms besides stock?

If I were to go back to stock it would simply be to backup the IMEI then flash back to AOSP right away. It looks like that restores stock everything (stock kernel, stock rom, and stock recovery)
I would like to keep my recovery but flash stock rom for AT&T S3 through TWRP so I can keep my recovery.
I backed up my imei because the more posts I read, the more it seemed like having a backup would be crucial if you wanted to restore and be successful.
Since that stock rom that I linked to was no longer active, I searched my old backups and found a stock CWM nandroid backup I made after I rooted. I was on TWRP so I flashed the recovery back to CWM via rom manager. Restore the stock nandroid I made then backed up my IMEI.
Switched back to TWRP and made a nandroid backup of the stock rom with twrp so I don't have to mess with recoveries in the future.
Flashed my 5-21 nandroid that was Task's AOSP then just updated to his latest 9-10 release.
All is great and I have a full NV backup.
Thank you all for the suggestions.

Download a terminal app(root required one) then type su enter reboot nvbackup.
To restore it's su reboot nvrestore.
!!!!!!DO NOT RESTORE BEFORE YOU BACKUP!!!! You will overwrite nv with empty data possibly losing imei forever.

We need more details really.
But if you can get into recovery, have you tried a factory reset? Then reboot.
We need to know your TWRP version, (KK or not), What ROM you were on prior, and what ROM's have you flashed since.

I was on the latest snapshot of CM11 and then i flashed LS970ZV9_DEODEX_STOCKROOT_1_13.zip
then i got the normal notification for the available OTA update (ZV9>>ZVB i believe) and i forgot that OTA's and custom recoveries don't work well together.
So I've literally wiped everything except for sd/data/media (or what ever holds all your photos and music ect) and I've tried restoring ALL my backups, nandroid wont ever work...
I believe installing a new recovery MIGHT work although I've tried two different versions of TWRP i had on my phone. (current TWRP v2.6.3.0)
Requesting:
1. Someone's NANDROID backup zip file with no data, obviously
2. CWM recovery for LS970 (lg optimus g) sprint
3. Drivers for XP PC to be able to access file system of my Optimus G

If you are on a stock rom you should be able to use freegee through the play store and it can install CWM if that's what you want.
Have you tried reflashing a stock rom? Why did you flash the zv9 when the zvc is available? I would try flashing that in recovery, twrp should flash it.
There are a few other options as well. Check the brick recovery thread and it will lead you to a teeny bin, you can use the programs that are suggested there and it will flash a recovery and unlock.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230106
I think you can also use fastboot to flash a different recovery and unlock.

Yeah i tried reflashing all the roms i have on my phone and i tried the ZVB/C stock (deodexed) rom and they both failed flashing.
ZV9 was the only success until i tried that OTA. I'm downloading the CWM recovery zip file right now to flash in TWRP. could you tell me how i could move that file to my phone within TWRP? I have trouble finding out how to access the file system from my computer when my phone is in TWRP
Thanks for the quick replies!:good:

That's what we needed to know.
I think the issue is your modem. ZV9 is for ICS. ZVB/C is for JB/CM/AOSP
So if you still have your recovery or any unlocked recovery, flash the ZVC modem from the teeny bin thread. Then I would suggest a Stockish Rom. That should get you going.

[Q] MDN/MSID revert to null every restart

I have an LS970 on Ting, which I had flashed to CM11 M10, and I saw that my phone number had reset and been returned to unknown. I read on the Ting forums, that you had to flash to stock, use the ##MSL# menu, and enter the MDN/MSID manually, then flash back to a custom ROM. I tried both the Deodexed and stock Odexed ZVC flashable zips, and every time I set the MDN/MSID numbers manually, they return to null after reboot. I used LGNPST to go full stock, and same behavior. I tried to do another full stock flash, thinking it may have been a bad flash, but no change. I tried the fix permissions option in CWM after re-rooting and reflashing CWM recovery, but that changed nothing. I used fastboot to flash CWM 6.0.3.8, which is the latest CWM for the LS970 I could find. At this point, I assume it is a corrupted partition, but I do not know which one, or if I can get to it from CWM to reformat it. I am still running the original stock ZV9 flashed via LGNPST, just rooted and flashed with CWM 6.0.3.8. Anyone run into this before?

Check out the EFS thread, I am thinking you can make a backup of your EFS, flash the custom ROM, then restore the EFS before booting. EFS is the partition that holds all the MEID, MSN, MSID and other junk needed to get service. I believe you can MAKE A BACKUP of it, then zero it, essentially formatting it. Then you can restore the backup. It should be in the Development section.
Almost back in business..
I found the guide for EFS partitions you mentioned and I think I am almost back - I had to zero it out and reprogram it per autoprime's guide, I am currently just waiting on Ting to provide my two AAA passwords for 3g/1x - voice and 4g are now working. I am staying stock until I get the info from Ting, but then I am going back to CM11. This is my first experience with CDMA devices, so I definitely learned my lesson! I will follow-up with specifics after I finish getting everything.
Thanks!

Restore stock recovery without losing data

Hi. It's been a while since I've done any flashing etc so not exactly sure about this. Is there a way to flash stock recovery without data loss?
I restored my s3 to stock before giving it to my niece but didn't realize twrp was still on there. I guess the phone is trying to get an ota update and ends up in twrp when restarting.

I think it has what you need.
And for those who prefer, a link to a stock recovery that is flashable from a custom recovery can be found in this thread by enewman17.
