Knox software - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

Does the Galaxy note 10.1 2014 LTE version have the Nnox software installed. It is android 4.3 but I cannot find Knox. I think I have a fake one. How can you tell.

Go to your Applications menu, and you should find a Samsung folder. Tap that, and you should find the KNOX app in there.

[Q] Wi-fi Note 8.0 (GT-N5110) - root using CF-Auto-Root OR Toolkit? Any issue?

I just got the Wi-fi version of the Note 8.0 (GT-N5110). I want to root it so I can run rooted apps (Titanium Backup, Helium, etc.) and not for installing custom-ROM.
One important thing I want to ensure is that when Samsung releases the OFFICIAL 4.2.2, I can still update it via Kies. I had the Galaxy Note 1 and I rooted it (forgot what I used to root) and when Samsung released the official Jelly Bean, I cannot upgrade via Kies, had to do Odin.
I see that there are 2 way of doing the root and I am wondering which one have LESS issue?
I. CF-Auto-Root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1980683
- Created by ChainFire (creator of SuperSU?)
- WILL increase the flash counter (can be fixed with Triangle Away, but not sure if this works with Note 8.0)
II. Galaxy Note 8.0 Toolkit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2251033
- I am still doing research, but it seems some people have issues based on the thread?
i. its work fine. i root my note 8 when it was in 4.1.2 and when upgrade it to 4.2.2
ii. some got problem with it. but not all.
btw both will increase your flash counter and can be fix with triangle away (make sure the latest one)

You have 4.2.2 already? I thought Samsung had not released the official update for the Wi-Fi version.
my device is 3g version
there are 4.2 roms out, so if you are rooted, you can install it..
and use CF autoroot; took about 3 minutes and is super easy..
and dont worry about the flash counter; why do people care about this any ways, it only comes in to play if you return this thing, and if you buy it at places like Best Buy, they usually dont care...
Thank you all!
I used the Toolkit, since it seems easier to revert to stock if I messed up.

Knox warranty void flag

I'm currently using stock MF6 firmware and there is no indication of the Knox warranty void flag in download mode. Does anyone know which firmware introduced this flag on the S4 mini or is it not implemented, yet? I'm asking because I want root access and need to know which prerooted firmwares I can choose from without this flag.

As far as I can tell, there's no Knox flag known on any S4 mini firmware or variant. Definitely mine has no sign of it either. And from what I read, at least ith the S4 it was never transparent, only when the flag appared could you kill it, in older firmwares no matter what you did the flag was never set until you upgraded and there was something considered wrong then.
4.4 is supposed to bring Knox for the mini so it may bring the flag, which could be easier, harder or the same to avoid as the S4, only time will tell I guess. If it's similar, hopefully enough will have been learnt by the time S4 mini get 4.4 that we can easily get around it.
@Nil Einne
Thank you for your reply. Which firmware version are you using?
(I9195XXUA)MG3 (which is 4.2.2 / JDQ39). It's currently the latest for my CSC. I may root soon perhaps using a prerooted firmware (since mine is so old) but I'm waiting to see if anyone has tried it on a 16GB version. I didn't mention before but I guess it's clear now I have an I9195 but I haven't seen any mention of Knox flag seen for any variant of the S4 mini on current firmwares.
My s4 mini (I9195) came with firmware MF7 and was upgraded OTA to MG8.
After that I flashed with Odin to MH2 (Android 4.2.2).
Thereafter I flashed a custom rom (Slim with 4.3.1).
Where and how can I see whether my Knox warranty void might be 0x1 now.
And what if I flash back with Odin to firmware MF7?
Is that still possible without a later upgrade problem?
Curious about your info.
New Rom XXUBMJ7 whit KNOX bootloader (aboot.mbn) and aplications.
After flash this Rom we have on Download Mode:
KnoxKernelLock: 0x0
KnoxWarrantyVoid: 0x0
Like on Note 3 N9005, if we flash something, customer, root, KnoxWarrantyVoid: go to 0x1 and this is not reversible.
To Root
The Root-Kit-V1 install all superuser, SU and busybox but after reboot the SuperSU can't access to system, KNOX not permit.
To solve this we must flash after, on recovery the UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.65.zip from Chainfire. After we have root alright.
My case like on Note 3:
I not need the KNOX, the phone is only for me, then after root I delete all KNOX apk + odex from system/app.
Good luck
Is it possible to go back to old bootloader WITHOUT knox?

Many info about KNOX.

Delete Knox

I found how to delete Knox. Open Knox, hit your settings button, and choose "About Knox". There is an Uninstall option there. That got rid of mine! I am running a Samsung Galaxy S4 with Android version 4.3.
Hope this helps!!

Bear in mind, everyone, this ONLY deletes the Knox related apps and security settings within the ROM.
It does NOT delete the Knox security in the bootloader and the Knox flag showing the phone has been altered will still be present.
This is a good sollution to removing the security if you don't need it, but will not help with warranty purposes.

[Q] Knox?

Ok, having read various references to Knox here in the forums I thought I go and look for it on my tab as I've not seen it.
Thing is, although I can find it in the "all" section of the application manager I can't actually work out how to run it?
There is no icon on the apps page and in the manager section it is not disabled or hidden
Unit is the 10.5, wi-fi only model. Bought in Best-Buy but now in the UK.
Any ideas?
I have Galaxy Tab S 10.5 WiFi (SM-T800, Exynos) with newest soft and I don't have Knox application too.
Only reference to Knox in my device is "Knox Warranty Void 0" text in download mode.
Also in "Galaxy Apps" (Samsung Store) there's no Knox app to download and install.
When I had Samsung Galaxy S4 there was Knox application in main menu.
Maybe Knox application will be introduced in later software versions.
I understand it to be an IT administrative installed app. It supports the new "bring your own device" fad. The admin installs it and provides a knox workspace that will use your enterprise credentials to access the secured whatever.

Thanks for the replies.
Thing is though there are 4 Knox applications on the unit and Samsung Knox is advertised as a feature on the unit on their websites?

[Q] Galaxy tab 3 warranty

Hi,
I've pretty much used a S4 before this, recently got a free Tab 3.70 and it was so slow that i need to change the firmware and root it.
I'm wondering or it seems to be there is no Knox for the Galaxy Tab 3.7.0? (T210 variant). So it means my warranty won't be void right? But I've also read that the Triangle Away does not support the Tab 3, does this mean that if i root/load a custom rom and kernel, I won't be able to flash away the counter to get warranty still?
Finally, for S4, some important things to note were the CSC/PDA/Firmware of your device, but without a Phone dialer, how does one go about doing this and is it necessary to take these details down for the Tab in order to go back to its original state?
I have recently bought a Tab 3 8" and would also like to know will i be able to keep my warranty if i root it. I am currently at 4.2.2 and i'm not interested in flashing another ROM, just gaining root. Is there a completely reversable way to do this?
Same question for P5220 (Tab 3 10.1 Wifi+LTE)
Warranty will be void if your device is rooted, and yes there is a way you can get it back restored unrooted. Just go to your device size thread and find the right one. Hope this helps.
