[Q] Battery pack not working properly: device-issue or malfunctioning? - General Accessories

Hi I bought some days ago a "Patrick PowerBank 5200mAh" from a local shop and unfortunately the receipt is gone.
As obvious the bank doesn't work properly and if it's broken I'm f...ed.
I explain you what happens. The bank has a red led and a blue led, red led has to be on when the battery is low and when it is recharging, blue led has to be on when it's fully charged.
I have a Sony MT27i with a 5VDC output alimentator and when i plug the bank in it it never change red to blue led (also after 48h). In addition the phone recharge is very very slow with the bank: sometimes I can see battery drain when it's plugged.
There's any chance to make it work or is broken? I never tried to charge the bank from USB computer. Thanks.
TECHNICAL SPECS:
Wall alimentator out: 5V/850mA
Power bank in: 5V/1A
Power bank out: 5V/1A

jasjar not charging with USB when is on???

Dear friends...
Do i do something wrong?
My new jasjar will not charge (even if it says charging) when is open...When I close then it charges. (the indicator increases)
Do you have any idea? Is this how it is supposed to work?
It is very unproductive.
In my experience, when the device is usb connected and the screen is On, then the jasjar charges, but veeeeeeeery slowly...
mine it says charging in the 'Settings' and goes down...65%,63%...etc.
the light is orange that indicates charging as well....

The problem is that the mains adapter provides 5V at 1A. A computer's USB connection will only provide 5V at .5A, so the Jasjar only gets half as much power when it's connected to the computer. Unfortunately, this is the maximum amount of power a standard USB port can provide.
Like dherrero, my Jasjar definitely charges when it's connected to a PC, but it charges pretty slowly. If your Jasjar is using a lot of power... maybe you have bluetooth and wifi turned on and you have the backlight set to be very bright, then it's possible that the .5A just can't keep up with the power demands. When you close the screen the backlight turns off, so that gives it more power to devote to charging the battery. Maybe try to turn down your screen brightness or turn off wifi?

The other thing I just thought of is that there are two kinds of USB ports... powered and non-powered. The powered ones can provide .5A of power, but the non-powered ones can only provide .1A. Is it possible that you have your device plugged into a non-powered USB port? Normally the ones that are directly on your computer are powered, but the ones on a USB hub are not unless that hub has a seperate mains adapter. Perhaps you should try a different USB port... preferably one that's directly on your PC.

I have tried to charge MDA Pro with the mains adapter from a GPS receiver (also 5V 1A).
It doesn't work. The only explanation is that they
did something with the ID pin. I don't think
the Universal is capable of finding out how
much current you can drive from the adapter.
You are absolutely right my friend! Disabling wi-fi and the brightness...started cumulating power!!!
Thanks guys!
The situation has improved for me over the last week as the battery has become conditioned. At first mine didn't charge from USB but now it does. I've followed the recommendation of doing several full charge/discharge cycles since I got the phone.

This page says that on Magician the ID pin should
be grounded

The same should be true for Universal, but YMMV.
It's ActiveSync.. M$ changed WM5 way of connecting by modifing the USB driver with AS4, and in doing so, I think the USB is not giving the proper currents to the Universal so when it's charging using the "modded" USB port, it charges VERY VERY slow... On the other hand, if you plug it into the wall charger, it charges up in about an hr or two max...
And you DON'T have to do the charge/discharge circle with polymer batteries....

You don't have to do this once you've been using it for a while, but the manual advocates conditioning the new battery with at least one (but ideally more) full charge/discharge cycles. New batteries have to 'learn' their capacity, IIRC.
My laptop's manual said the same thing, and because the battery has a brain you need to do a full charge/discharge cycle every couple of months to re-train the battery's electronic brain with the true capacity.
Certainly my Exec now has much better battery life than it did after its first charge...
Jasjar battery
I have a different problem. I used the AC adapter to charge overnight (I had been using the USB port to excellent effect). When I attempted to powerup the jasjar it has been unresponsive.
I plugged it into the USB port, but still nothing.
Tried both soft- and hard-resets. Nothing.
Left it plugged into the USB port and took out the battery and the LED on the right side glowed red (as it would if the battery were discharged) but the unit still wouldn't respond to reset commands.
When I put the battery back in the LED went out and the unit became unresponsive again.
Any ideas?

Sounds like a knackered battery, Rich.

I'm not sure that fully discharging the battery is a good thing. I saw a comment on one of the RSS feeds on Buzz Lightyears site from one of the MSDN guys who actually said that fully discharging the battery was harmful to it.

Yeah, I know what you mean. The thing my laptop manual says (which I guess applies to the Exec too) is that the device will turn off before the battery is completely flat, since the battery can't sustain the minimum voltage required to keep the basic functions alive even though there's still some charge left in it. Therefore the battery is never fully discharged, like it would be if you shorted the terminals.
I think it's the full (e.g. shorted out terminals) discharge that hurts the battery.

in the hp manuals its mentioned:
" if you charge via usb and the screen is on, the device will consume almost all the power from the usb. it will charge but at a very slow rate."
i suppose its the same with the universal

Cheap Iphone 3g Power Station Battery quality how?

hey all i want to buy a new Iphone 3g Power Station Battery Price:$15.48,My friend recommended newfrog. com,but i don’t know,What do you think of it? pls give me some advice .tks.
Power station features a USB output port that also can charge for your another mobile phone, such as Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson if you have its USB cable.
Battery capacity display: press the "Middle" button, there are 4 LEDS displaying the battery capacity if full charged (4LEDs lighting for 100%, 3LEDs lighting for 75%, 2LEDs lighting for 50%, 1LEDs lighting for 25% and charge indicator when you press the "Middle" button)
No memory effect
Charging via the computer or AC adapter with the USB cable, easy to take and charge
Color: Black

[SOLVED]Charger makes notification LED blink once

Pretty much what I'm getting, I plug my charger in and the notification LED just blinks once then turns off
Doesn't even start charging, do I need a new charger/data cable?
EDIT: It was my charging cable, now using an AC Adapter to charge my phone x)
Sounds like my charger.. Mine wont charge unless the cable is actually straight.. >.< And proper level, not curved.
Before you do anything else, try use another charger, ie a BlackBerry charger to see if its not your battery/port's broken.

Phone won't turn on because of 700mA 5V charger

Hi,
It seems my battery went dead and my phone doesn't turn on because my microUSB charger is not the Note2 original but another Samsung 5v 700mA charger. Trying to turn on the phone only blinks the red led. Should the phone turn on by itself if connected to the charger longer?
Edit: after 10 min's I was capable to turn on the phone. Seems the battery needs a minimum voltage to be able to be powered on.

[Q] Charging led doesn't work anymore

Hello, for about 4 months I'm charging the phone with and magnetic Usb cable, today I've bought another one for my other phone and I tested the cable on the Z1 compact and the screen got blank the phone won't power on when pressed the button, I tought I ve bricked the phone, or the battery. Anyway I've pressed volume up and power for about 5-10 seconds and the phone turned on. It seems it works with no problems it charges, BUT the charging led doesnt work anymore. If I recieve a notification it works, all the colors (tested whatsapp, sms, calls), only when I plugged it to charge the led is off.
L. E : I've measured the pins and the new bought cable has the positive switched with the negative. ?
Any suggestions?

Don't use cheap crap.
It started working again . It was my mistake that I didn't checked the polarity of the cable. I will reverse the polarity of the cable.
