[Q] Want to switch roms, not sure what my possibilities are - HTC One X

Hello,
I'm on Avatar Rom now and I'm getting really sick of all the stuff that crashes and/or doesn't work at all. (Like recording video!)
But I'm not sure what my options are. I think I'm stuck on my HBOOT as well.
Some info about my phone, obviously a ONE X:

So, is there any way I can update my HBOOT.
Are there any power-saving ROMS?
Thanks in advance!
TimVN

Yes you have some options :
1: backup all you need and relock the bootloader
Fastboot oem lock
And then execute this ruu with admin rights
http://www.androidruu.com/getdownlo...Radio_1.1204.105.14_release_264070_signed.exe
It will flash the phone back to stock, after that you can try to do the official HTC ota
2: do a firmware flash, that will only lift the hboot up so you need to install a new rom (when its lifted to 1.36/1.39 or higher you can install any rom)
How to flash a firmware is very well described here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957376
So read it very carefully including the commands !
Cheers.

I did the first step, ran fastboot oem lock. It is now stuck in the bootloader. Should I run the program?

"Are there any power-saving ROMS?"
Give a shot to Android Revolution HD. I'm using for more than a year and I can say it's really excellent piece of developers' work.

Did the ruu work and did you update the hboot and software via ota ?

Well, I think I killed it :(

Having a problem with my DHD after unlocking the bootloader through HTCDEV and then running the Advanced ACE Hack Kit.
It appears to be flashing roms but when rebooting it's just freezing at the HTC screen.
Now, I know it must be something I've done/I'm doing but I have no idea what so can someone please talk me through flashing the easiest rom in the easiest way?
Can you access to the bootloader(Turn off the device then press and hold vol down and power together until booted)?

Yep. I can get into the bootloader so i've been going into recovery (which is now ClockworkMod 5.0.2.7) and trying to flash different roms from there but none are working so it must be something I'm doing
What it sais when you try and fail. Are there any errors ?

Nope. I've tried 4 different roms and they all seem to work but when it reboots I just get the HTC at startup but it hangs there
You are not bricked if you can access bootloader.
You have to flash the Roms boot.img separate when you flash roms with unlocked bootloader, I would recommend to run the ruu from your computer when in fastboot mode, then relock the bootloader using HTCdev and rerun the advanced ace hack kit.

I know I'm gonna look like a complete spaz here but can you tell me how to do it? I flashed my Magic and it was so easy compared to this :-S
Where do I put the rom? Do I need to unzip it first? Amd what commands do I use in fastboot?
Which of it? flash Rom or get real S-OFF?
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using xda premium
Dont unzip it copy to sdcard root.check android development stickies you got your answers and tools there you need to wipe everything then flash over and flash 4ext recovery wipe boot.imp then flash a rom

Gixermouse, you commited a mistake covered in the effen manual...you tried running the kit with an unlocked bootloader. You need to relock it first and then re run the Kit.
Do the following:
1) Boot in hboot and then choose fastboot.
2) Plug the phone (until you see fastboot usb)
3) Open a cmd as Admin in the PC or Terminal as root (in linux or mac)
4) Type: fastboot oem lock
then you should see OKAY. finished...then reboot the phone and from the htc screen run the Hack Kit again...
It will work unless you did a factory reset....if you need help just let me know...:good:

umm...it seems that u have done a factory reset. I guess the best u can do is to flash a ruu, go back to stock and then when working re run the Hack Kit to gain S-OFF and root.
Do you know, what your cid is? boot in fastboot, plug the phone until you see fastboot usb and then from a cmd session as admin type
fastboot getvar all....paste here the INFOcidnum

since ur are saying that it says no device found then u have no other option but to flash the p98img.zip through fastboot but make sure not to flash a dhd shipped with gingerbread with a froyo ruu.Peace
What country and carrier is your phone from? The AAHK has am option to download RUUs. Try to use that. If that doesn't workout, I'll try to find an RUU for you (depending on your country and carrier).

The phone is a replacement board fitted by HTC under waranty after mine died (through no fault of my own that time!)
It wasn't network locked and was running 2.3.5 when I recieved it.
By booting in recovery and mounting the system data and cache I was able to make it appear to flash a rom and when I did a backup the files were on there but it still wouldn't boot.
If there's anything else you need let me know because the LG-A100 I've borrowed is now driving me crazy and I'm getting a bit desperate

thanks for this i managed to bring back the original ROM.
also just want to give background info. on this..
after I bring back Sense ROM in this unit, i will be surrendering it to HTC center because the LCD was broken and need of replacement.
last month i brought it there and they were charging me a couple of hundred dollars on top of the LCD replacement, due to the reason im using a different kind of ROM and such..
How can i guarantee that the ROM im using is a legit one and so i wont be questioned by them anymore and just replace the screen?
I checked the software info on my phone now, and it displays:
Android Version: 4.0.4
HTC sense version: 4.1
Software Number: 2.17.707.3
HTC SDK API level: 4.23
HTC extension version: HTCExtension_403_1_GA_20
i hope this can be any of help to you
If you run the ruu succesfully its full stock. You can't run another ruu then the one that is released for your phone with your software number ! Don't worry about that.
The only thing that they will see is the relocked bootloader, they always know its been unlocked before. That's all.
They can make a problem of that, because in certain cases unlocking means no more warranty

[Q] HTC ONE X Don't know what RUU I need

I unlocked the bootloader, rooted the phone and installed a custom ROM for my brother about a year ago on his HTC ONE X, but now he wants it back to stock, I've followed a video on youtube where I fastbooted the phone and flashed recovery.img and then oem locked and I've relocked the bootloader, but on the part where you run the RUU it gave me an error saying it's the wrong version. selected fast boot then connected it to the laptop via USB cable.
Then I opened cmd.exe and typed:

C:\>cd fastboot
C:\fastboot>fastboot getvar version-main

Two questions on google dialer and getting latest firmware

First up I love the google dialer but when I install it it works fine unless I go to recent calls then it force closes. Is there a fix to this?
Also it took me going back to a stock ROM to get firewater to work I am s off now but how do I get the latest firmware on my phone. Also what is the latest firm ware. I would like to use the latest stock sense ROMs.
Thanks in advance.
Anyone?
Poo
Hi,
regarding Google dialer I can't tell. Are you using the GPE or GSM edition?
Assuming you are using GSM. Please name your MID/CID to be abled to check what the latest stock ROM version - and thus firmware - is.
In case of WWE with CID HTC__001 I could tell you that it is Android 4.4.3 with version number 2.22.401.5 and the corresponding firmware.

Better do it according to one of the manuals that can be found here. As I wanted to guide you I asked for the MID/CID. Can you provide this, as then I would be able to help you flashing newest firmware.

As far as I an see a backup and stock recovery can be found here. But it still is the 1.xx.xxx . Nevertheless you could install this and run an OTA to get the latest 2.xx.xxx ROM and firmware vetsion.
Edit:
Regarding your bootloader version 3.16 you are still on 1.xx.xxx firmware so the backup and stock recovery on the link given above are going to work. After this you can go for the OTA. So - assuming again that you are on the stock ROM as written in you first post - what I would do is:
1) download CWS stock recovery and flash it:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img
2) fastboot reboot
3) check for OTA and install the latest to get onto 2.xx.xxx ROM an firmware
Now you can flash custom revocery and either root the stock ROM or install a custom ROM designed for 2.xx.xxx firmware.
Alternatively the 1) you could download a CWS firmware.zip (don't know where to find it right away) and flash it:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip firmwarename.zip
ATTENTION: DO THIS TWICE FOR FIRMWARE TO BE FLASHED COMPLETELY
fastboot flash zip firmwarename.zip
fastboot reboot

****.......this is soooo over my head.....thanks for your help but I don't want to mess my phone up. If there was a video on exact how to do it i would do it but all that looks confusing.
According to my experience video tutorials lead to more confusion and cause more havoc on the phone than to follow a good written guide and some help by the members of this forums.
The problem of video tutorials is that you never collect the experience in what your doing causes and thus do not understand why problems may arise, let alone how to solve them.
