I unlocked the bootloader, rooted the phone and installed a custom ROM for my brother about a year ago on his HTC ONE X, but now he wants it back to stock, I've followed a video on youtube where I fastbooted the phone and flashed recovery.img and then oem locked and I've relocked the bootloader, but on the part where you run the RUU it gave me an error saying it's the wrong version. Heres the name of the file, the phone was originally on orange when first brought but was unlocked to any network a few weeks after so I don't know if that would affect it. I will put some information that is displayed on the bootloader below:

I don't know I did it right, but I booted the HTC ONE X into bootloader,
selected fast boot then connected it to the laptop via USB cable.
Then I opened cmd.exe and typed:
C:\Users\sharo_000>cd /
C:\>cd fastboot
C:\fastboot>fastboot getvar version-main
version-main: 3.16.61.6
finished. total time: 0.007s
Also CID is: ORANG001
Hopefully this helps, and I like in the UK so I don't know what RUU to download :/

ok you need run ruu with your cid and
1) Relock bootloader (Necessary for firmware.zip installation) "fastboot oem lock"
2) Download firmware.zip here
3) Enter fastboot and type "fastboot oem rebootRUU"
4) In order to flash new hboot write "fastboot flash zip firmware.zip" you might get error, just type this command again.
5) Unlock device via HTCDev
6) Flash custom recovery
7) flash new rom image (with fastboot)
8) Flash new rom

the firmware link does,nt work , and how to install it ?
I think your main concern is that it says Relocked Security Warning.
Well it says this because you previously unlocked your bootloader. Every HOX will say this and there is currently no way to get rid of it
Jellybean only works on hboot 1.23 and 1.28 if i'm not mistaken !

My best advice is to stay on hboot 1.12 and stay on a ics rom until you can upgrade your phone officially !
Just unlock bootloader, flash custom recovery and flash a ics rom...that should not be a problem.
I don't know much about the new hboots i'm also waiting for the official update.....

First of all you need to know your main version. There is the key to know your RUU.
Put your One X into fastboot usb.
Open cmd and cd to the folder you download fastboot file on pc.
Once you get into that folder on cmd type: fastboot getvar version-main. Hit enter.
Example: C:\DAXI\DOWNLOADS\ONEXROOT\> fastboot getvar version-main
Once yo do that it gives you the RUU you need.
My CID is htc__044 and it only supports x.xx.707.xx RUU (Mine is asian wwe).
Remember it´s possible to upgrade whit ruu but impossible to downgrade.
U like. Hit :good:
Hi, i read somewhere that i need to use the correct RUU to revert back to my stock rom htc one x. i kinda lost my nandroid backup.

thanks for this i managed to bring back the original ROM.
also just want to give background info. on this..
after I bring back Sense ROM in this unit, i will be surrendering it to HTC center because the LCD was broken and need of replacement.
last month i brought it there and they were charging me a couple of hundred dollars on top of the LCD replacement, due to the reason im using a different kind of ROM and such..
How can i guarantee that the ROM im using is a legit one and so i wont be questioned by them anymore and just replace the screen?
I checked the software info on my phone now, and it displays:
Android Version: 4.0.4
HTC sense version: 4.1
Software Number: 2.17.707.3
HTC SDK API level: 4.23
HTC extension version: HTCExtension_403_1_GA_20
i hope this can be any of help to you
If you run the ruu succesfully its full stock. You can't run another ruu then the one that is released for your phone with your software number ! Don't worry about that.
The only thing that they will see is the relocked bootloader, they always know its been unlocked before. That's all.
They can make a problem of that, because in certain cases unlocking means no more warranty

First problem
Was trying to get stock rom back and, I guess, flashed wrong hboot/boot/everything =\ Phone now boots (that gives me a hope) only into fastboot. When I'm trying to flash anything, even unlock token I get a "FAILED (remote: not allowed)" message in cmd.
Tried 2 RUUs from androidruu
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_hTC_Asia_India_1.29.720.11_Radio_1.1204.105.14_release_261615_signed
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_hTC_Asia_India_1.28.720.10_Radio_1.1204.103.14_release_257789_signed
but it stops when trying to renew a signature (approximate translation from russian) saying, that I've got wrong version of RUU. As I understood from some threads, I need to downgrade hboot, but I can't find proper RUU for my phone. Or problem is in something else?
Solved that one with oem lock, now got into another. Fastboot says I have kernel 3.14.720.24. Everywhere I go I find only versions like 1.24.x.x fow my CID but plenty of 3.14.x.x for european CIDs. Maybe I still flashed wrong kernel? Phone won't go further than One X splash now.
Thanx forward.
type command fastboot getvar version-main then go to this thread>>>>>http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140 and look for your cid then the nandroid that matches the result you got from version main, which I assume is what you typed>>3.14.720.24
