[Q] Xperia S Black Screen but phone is working - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Hi everyone,
I hope you guys can help me with my problem.
I recently decided to root my Xperia S and put a custom rom on it.
The first thing i did was unlocking my bootloader following this tutorial --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527159
Then i rooted the device with this tutorial --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44918676&postcount=1
Instead of putting the 6.2.B.1.96_KernelOnly immediatly after the rooting process i first installed recovery using this tutorial --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2308493
Only after installing recovery i put the kernel back to 6.2.B.1.96.
After this my phone was fully working, rooted with unlocked bootloader and latest official version.
I wanted to try to install a custom rom on it and installed this one --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2476341 trough recovery.
I wasn't happy about this rom and wanted to try a different one but could not access the recovery anymore.
At this point i used an official 6.2.B.1.96 tft to install everything back to official. After this i noticed my root privileges were gone.
I wanted to root it back so i tried to follow the rooting tutorial again and flashed my kernel back to 6.2.B.0.211.
After this flash my screen turned black and i am not able to see anything on it.
My touchscreen and phone is still working as i hear the screenlock sound when i swipe my screen to unlock it.
I am still able to take pictures, to plug it on my computer (I see the pictures in DCIM) and flashmode and fastboot are still working.
I searched the past day on the net at tried everything i could find. I flashed again, tried with Emma, locked my bootloader again and tried with PCC but nothing works. Screen stays black.
Please, i hope you guys can guide me trough this process.
Thank you !

Update: I connected my phone with an HDMI cable to my tv and i can see my phone on the screen.
I am sure the phone is working.
Please guys help me, i have no idea what to do now.

Xperia Play R800at stuck in boot loop (never rooted)

Hi,
This is my brother's phone, and he tells me he went to use it the other day and the phone was off. When he turned it on it would show the "Sony Ericsson" screen, then the AT&T logo and back to the Sony screen, and the loop continues. The only way to make it stop is to remove the battery.
His phone is stock and has never been rooted or unlocked. I tried flashtools but can't use it because the phone has a locked boot loader. I tried to unlock it through the Sony mobile site, but can't because it asks to go to the menu of the phone which I cannot do for obvious reasons to verify if it is unlockable. I tried to do so anyway, but the instructions say that you press the "search" key while connecting it to the computer and a BLUE LED would turn on, this phone turns on Orange. At this point I am stuck and don't have a clue what can be done now.
What I really want is to just get the phone working, it doesn't matter if it goes back to stock or if it will have a custom firmware, just to get it working again.
I appreciate if someone points me to the right direction on what I can do to restore the phone. Any tutorials or instructions related to this specific issue. I have found multiple threads similar to this but all involved previously rooted/unlocked phones. Also, I mostly use Linux so any instructions for Linux users would be great.
Thanks
You don't. Need to unlock it top use flash tool. Download an ftf for the phone. And choose flash mode in flash tool. Then choose the ftf you want to flash. And it will tell you to unplug the phone and plug it back in while holding the back button. A green led should turn on then it should flash the data and reboot and it will be back to stock
Sent from my Xperia Play (r800x)
As above, Flashtool doesn't require an unlocked bootloader. A link to the stock R800at firmwire here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1589399
Thanks! This worked perfectly, I mistakenly downloaded what Sony calls "Flashtool" on the Sony mobile site (named "Emma" when installed).
Any idea what could have happened to the phone in the first place to render it unbootable?
Again thanks for your help!
Could be the cache/dalvik partitions messing up. Usually when I get the same problem I just pop into recovery and clear these, but that does require root.
Quite strange for it to happen on a stock, non-rooted device though. Is the device working now?

You don't need root to have recovery, unlocked bootloader is enough. Just saying
He just written above you that it's working perfectly now

Well, for me who had "bootlocker unlock status: no", I had to do it via root instead. Got to love X-Parts!
what do i use when i download the ftf file?
what do i use when i download the ftf file? im confused he said he download the file from sony called emma but yet he said he did by mistake. help please i have exactly the same program

[Q] [SOLVED] Tried installing CM 10.1.0 RC5 Odin now the screens just black

Well, after a series of rooting and trying to get CWM recovery on my Xperia ZL and getting SuperSU I decided it was time to update to CM 10.1.0 RC5 Odin I didn't unlock my bootloader cause I don't know how, to my knowledge of a video I saw online if your phone says that you cannot unlock your bootloader than you can't. So I just thought it was okay to install CM 10.1.0 and did so, now my phone is stuck in infinite reboot without any sort of logo and just stuck at a black screen. I was wondering if any of you guys can help me solve this :\ thanks!

If you can still access CWM Recovery you can try to restore a backup of your old system. Otherwise you will have to flash an FTF using Flashtools.
(You can find the FTF that belongs to your phone here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2094).
If it is your first time using Flashtools you can search here in xda for guides, there are many that explain how to flash a FTF
And, as I said in another post before, every rom that needs to flash a Kernel (CM10.1, PAC, ReVolt, etc) you must have an unlocked bootloader unless it's tagged as a stock based rom.

I love you so much man, thanks a lot. I'm going to try out a couple of methods to at least restore the phone to 4.1.2. Do you have any advice on how to unlock the bootloader or any roms that doesn't require an unlocked bootloader?
Edit: By the way, I can't access CWM I wish I could, but I tried pressing the hard OFF button on the back of the phone and I tried pressing every button as well, it doesn't connect to my laptop or computer at all. Any way I can connect it to reset it?

Actually all Stock Roms (Found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2094) don't require an unlocked bootloader, but if you want to unlock it so you can install Custom Roms (Found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2095) that are not Stock based here is a very nice Tutorial about how to do the Unlock Bootloader procedure: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2153261

You are the boss man, thanks a bunch I was so worried about my phone. I just got it and was about to unlock it for a company that's super cheaper than all the other phone companies. I'm currently flashbooting it so I can restore it. I will take a peak at the bootloader unlocking procedure and I'm going to thank you again for your help.
Edit: My phone is being recognized in Flashmode only and randomly disconnects and reconnects. I hope I can flash it when the .zip is done downloading. I'll keep you posted.
Edit 2: I'm stuck on FlashTools "Reading Device Information" :\ now I'm stuck at 7% of Flashing Data and it hasn't moved

I would recommend you to flash this FTF first because you need to recover your android system first so you can move files in and out, install recoveries, etc. After doing so you can continue with that rom

Do a hard reset on it (using the button on the back), don't turn it on and follow the Flashtools flashing process
1.- Open Flashtools
2.- Flash mode > Flashmode > Select the FTF you just downloaded (The one of 700+MB) > Flash
3.- Connect your Phone if Flash mode (It will start flashing).
4.- Boot your phone and you're ready to go.
When selecting the FTF just select it and leave everything as it is and make sure that you have installed the drivers for flashing (
They are where found you installed Flashtools
In a folder called Drivers, open the .exe and Install these:
- Fastboot drivers
- Flashmode drivers
- Xperia Z and SO-02E drivers
If stills doesn't works I can't help any far as that, but I would suggest you that If you are able try to flash it on another computer (It might sound silly but It could actually work ), also make sure that you're running the latest Flashtool which is v0.9.11.0 and can be found here: http://androxyde.github.io/

[Q] Custom Kernel Flashing ends with black screen , Arc S

Hi everyone,
I really like my arc s and I don't want to change it if it does not fail. However, I decided try new ROMS just to make my device a bit different with improved performance.
I checked several of threads and read them carefully. I have already finished these steps (I hope I managed to do properly) :good:
=unlocked boot loader
=rooted with a software called eroot
=installed ClockWorkMod Recovery 5.0.2.7-nAa-r2
As much I understand everything is ready.
So I have downloaded a 4.2 JB custom ROM. I put the zip files to my SD card and also extracted boot.img file to my desktop. By using Flashtool, I flashed it. After that, I rebooted the device to enter CWM mod to be able to load the ROM and googleapps. However, I only get BLACK screen everytime. (I press volume down and power button) .
I followed 3-4 different techniques and different kernels and roms but everytime the result is black unresponsive secreen, I only get small vibration and than black screen forever. Thankfully, I manage to save the device but loading LT18i_4.1.B.0.587_(1254-2184).ftf with flashtool flash mode. However, I really want a shiny 4.2 in my mobile .
By the way, about my phone : android 4.0.4 kernel 2.6.32.9-perf
I don't know what I am doing wrong with flashing kernel...
Please share your experiences...
Regards
Onur

Hello mate, thnks for the suggestion. Believe me I have already tried it with many other combinations including pressing all buttons at the same time
What is the kernel logo that pops up, are you sure the kernel flashed correctly
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
At least I have identified the problem, I guess
At first I didn't consider that as a problem but I think the reason of this kernel flashing problem is an issue about internal memory of the device. While flashing the kernel with flashtool, an error occurs "1 bad blocks encountered" (check the attachment pls), I did a quick search on the forum as well as Mr Google however the outcome is a bit devastating unfortunately. I think it is impossible to solve the problem. Still, I will be really appreciated if someone shares his/her solution for this problem.
Otherwise, I m kindly asking for ROM suggestions to upgrde my arc s (4.0.4 with kernel 2.6.32.9) without flashing a custom kernel.
Many thanks...

Odin is the Samsung equivalent of Sony's Flashtool. CWM is another lifesaver as it has wipe options built in that can help to get a phone to boot. CWM remains installed even if the main OS is removed........

Yeah I have used sony phone for a while and i have broken it (Hard bricked) when unlocking the bootloader, then I picked up a galaxy w and I am still in love with it, Its a single core but it can do miracles. I have soft bricked my phone many times, I sometimes delete the ROM i put on the sd card to have room for the kernel and other tweaks so i use Odin to just return the stock OS and then get a new ROM and flash it inside. There is not much risk and you cant go wrong with the phone. I fixed mine many times and i know how many frustration you get when doing such thing. I remember the first time when i bricked my phone by installing kernel for another android version, and then i booted up to CWM and wiped data/cache and flashed a new rom. Because of the long booting time i thought that its over, i broke my phone, but after sitting there for 10 mins. it finally booted up. Damn i was so happy then, i rooted my phone and installed a new rom for first time :victory:

My Xperia S device is stuck in bootloop

Hello.
Recently I've tried to get myself a new ROM. I've decided to choose this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2685822
Everything was going just fine. I unlocked bootloader, flashed device, accesed CWM menu, did all the wipes but the dalvik cache one and then my device kinda re-connected through the usb (you know, the sound windows makes when you disconnect and connect device). I had no idea what happened and from that point I can no longer acces my phone. It's stuck at Pac Rom logo. The phone only responds when i turn it on in fastboot mode (power + volume up button). Then a blue led lights up.
Have I really just bricked my phone beyond repair? Could anyone help me?
