I have been sending sms via voice using google, but I was wondering if there was an easy way to have them read to me. I'm thinking while Im walking listening to music, it would be nice to hear them without pulling it out. As it is now, I hear the notification, so at least I know when they come.
I was looking in the settings, but didn't see anything. Is it in the settings, or do I have to get an app?
Readittome in market.

Could someone tell me what is the best way to use two GV numbers on my EVO? I mean, without logging out of one and logging into another. TIA
I use two different browsers and access the web app for google voice. Not the most elegant, but gets the job done.
That's an idea haven't thought of. I'll try that, thanks.

If anyone should stumble into this thread I thought I'd mention an app I found that worked for me. It's Flex Dialer Pro and is in the Market. It took some playing around to get it working right and it cost 3 bucks, but I like it.

All,
No credit here- I just wanted to let all of those looking for Visual Voice Mail for CM10 or other AOSP roms I have tested this on L710 SGS3 for Sprint and it does work. I tried it on CM10 nightly 8/20.
http://epicaokp.blogspot.com/2012/05/aokpcm9-fixed-sprint-visual-voicemail.html
I didnt find a thread on this so sorry if its already out there. just dwnload the Zip and flash in CWM. Some say it doesnt work in other recoveries such as TWRP. I used CWM.
you can hit thanks if you want but I did not make this... I just braved it and reported it. VVM is very important to me. Only reason to keep sprint.
enjoy
Wow, this is one of the main reasons why I stayed away from CM rom in the past. I can't live without VVM... can't stand wasting 20mins sifting thru audio voicemails with a pen and paper.
Will it update to the new version or are we stuck with the version that gets flashed? VVM just had an update in the past few weeks, i think i'm on the latest which is 5.3.0.32.
I had visual voice mail with cm10 by just making a titanium backup of it from a rom that had it, then restoring when I ran cm10.

Are you serious? Just find an apk and install. That's what I did.

You never had to. Google voice provides a better voicemail if you ask me. And to the folks that dont like the deep integration, you can break the tie-in and just use it for the voicemail.
But yeah... VVM is good too. I just have fewer issues with google voice.
I need the "call record" app.
There's an app section for that

I can't find a thread that details that and the Google instructions are a joke. Care to fill us in on how you did that?
No offense but, Google voice is crap IMO. Or at least it was crap a year ago. That's what I tried to use when I was on cm7 on the epic. I hated it. Vvm is well worth the 2$ a month to me. I run a business with this phone, it's gotta be reliable. Like I said it's been a year since I last tried it, but the impression it left was a disaster to my business for an entire week.

You should give Google Voice another try. Make sure you set it up from a PC.
I also run a busniess from my phone and the option for different contacts to hear a different voicemail greeting is worth the price of admission on its own.
I have my main voicemail greeting set up as my business name and then I have a different voicemail greetings for my personal contacts.
I can login to any PC and retrieve my voice mail, no phone needed. I'm not sure if Sprint VVM does that or not.
I honestly would not be able to run my business without Google Voice.

Wow guys... Ok heres the skinny. I did a TB but the backup was not there after CM10. IDK y im working on it.
#2 I tried installing .apk- didnt work, kept saying your acct cannot be verified. Thats because the supporting files are not in place in AOSP- this is the way it has been since AOSP, so idk what he's talking about.
# 3 yes it did update.
#4 Google voice is horrible- I have tried it multiple times I always get beeps in the middle of my calls and the transcriptions are terrible, best part of google voice is missed call notifications even when you didnt get the call.
Now This is a Sprint VVM thread please keep it that way and if you want to run your mouth about something else then go somewhere else. Also dont need info about other apps or whatever-
Contribute or just keep moving...
I wanted to thank ya'll for posting this. Great stuff.
Just some observations...
This is the second-to-latest Sprint Visual Voicemail application. It works well, is stable, and I love it on Paranoid Android 1.9.9
Just a note - if you're worried that upgrading to this will delete your current store of voice mail files, it will not. If all you're doing is *flashing* this on an already-rooted ROM using CMW 5.0+, you're going to be okay. I played around with it earlier today. No problems whatsoever, all stable, no SNAFUS. I don't know why some people have reported issues.
Hoppingfully yours,
--SLN
Does this give the weird text every time you get a voicemail like all the other CM's?
Cm flashers are always pushing Google voice, but I find it to be extremely inconvenient and complicated and the voice to text translations are horrible. VVM is the only way to fly in my opinion. I'm getting the 9016 text thing on freegs3 now, but it doesn't bother me. It's just another notification. I just delete the thread after a while. I've been flashing so much lately that the text notification actually caught a few messages while I was flashing.

This should be in themes and apps not development. Especially since you didn't make it. Plus there is already a thread on themes apps with I believe the same vvm.
I know you're trying to contribute but please post in the right place.
-Sprint Galaxy Slll_Transformer Prime-
Yes i do still get the annoying texts.
Then maybe someone needs to work on the search function. I searched before posting so w/e dude. I pit it in development because you have to flash in recovery. This isn't just an apk

I think the important question is why is this in the development thread? Please read the rules so you understand where to post. It makes the forums much easier to navigate if everyone posts in the correct forum.

stop annoying text messages.
the Text messages can be stopped by recording a voicemail message and sending it to the following address: [email protected]

Incorrect. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PEOPLE PLEASE USE THE SEARCH feature built into the xda forums. These text messages have been around since CM6, its how AOSP works. The only way to remove them is use chompsms, gosms, or something similar to block the 9016 text messages.
There is an APK in the Apps and Themes section here, install that, reboot to recovery, fix permissions, reboot phone, open vvm app, send 25 second message to [email protected] and it will provision and work. I have never had a single problem getting VVM to work since CM6 following these steps.
Any recommendations for sending texts from your PC? The three that I know of are MightyText, MySMS and Browser Texting.
I use Google voice.

I used Google Voice too but after integrating my Sprint number with Google Voice, I had too many issues with missed calls so I disabled it.

Been playing with MightyText for the past hour or so. Seems pretty good but it doesn't seem to play with Juice Defender well. Some of my texts won't send when my phone's in sleep mode.

MightyText doesn't make a notification sound on computer. Is it meant too...?

I'm liking mysms
I use google voice with the Chrome extension. It's awesome!
So after using MightyText for a couple of weeks, I had to uninstall. It's been a little buggy at times - sent texts getting stuck and sometimes sending multiples of the same text. Still searching for a good desktop sms solution.
Any other suggestions? I've tried MightyText and MySMS but both had their issues.
phone deck has discontinued their web support.
I'm looking for a new solution, any updates?
New Desktop Texting App
I know this is an old thread but I have an Android smart phone and a Windows 8 laptop and I love "Text Desk". I love not having to pickup and check my phone every time I get a text message. My texts automatically pop up on my PC. I can read it and reply to it right from my PC without ever touching my phone. Pretty sweet! Check out: www dot textdesk dot net!

I've been pretty happy with DeskSMS. It works on your computer as a browser add in and there is also a Tablet app that will push messages to your tablet as well. ON the tablet you can reply to messages the same way you can on the PC.

Thanks for the suggestion tkepk181. I'm still using Text Desk every day. The thing I really like about Text Desk is that it doesn't require ANY personal information at all to use. I don't have to setup an account, give my email address, give my mobile phone number, login with Facebook, Google, etc. I also don't "love" browser based solutions. The native apps always seems to be slicker and more reliable. Just my 2 cents!
Text Desk looks very interesting. Thanks for the tip. I'm definitely going to check that out.
Hello,
I have a wonderful nexus 5, that is my current cellular device. And I also have a wonderful nexus 7 2013. I tend to carry both with me all the time, considering the nexus fits perfectly in my jacket pockets.
I sync there files countless ways that it's as if my nexus 7 is simply an extension of of the 5. One thing that has been bugging me is the fact hangouts does not sync conversations via text messages from my nexus 5. Which makes sense considering there is no cellular plan on the nexus 7.
But that shouldn't make this impossible.
Couldn't there be a way I can sync my text messages some way or another. I know there is countless internet texting services that are completely free. Couldn't I forward my mobile texts to one so I can respond on the 7? Even if it took another number that's fine. I could just use a text app but I haven't found one that can forward my texts from my mobile.
Maybe I could figure out a way to use a combo of features. Maybe send the push notifications to my nexus 7 from the 5 but have it allow me to respond.
Heck maybe even if I could finally get a VNC server working on my nexus 5 that would be prefect too as I could just jump to it to respond and go back to nexus 7ing.
I don't know I'm at a loss so I figured id ask the collective intelligence to maybe help spark some ideas.
Or yet maybe someone's done this before with other devices.
Just thought I'd throw it out there, as I'm sure others would appreciate being able to do this at times too.
Thanks for your time guys.

Tapatalk will do what you want. Your N5 and N7 stay in sync over BT or Wi-Fi and is what I use. Funny enough sometimes the text shows up on the N7 first for whatever reason. Nice app.
Edit: I'm sorry I typoed that... the app is tablet talk

I've been looking into this app as well. Do you have to use Mighty Text as your primary SMS app on your phone for this to work with your N7? Or would I be able to use this with Hangouts (since that's what I use for my SMS and MMS messages) on my phone?
^Pretty sure you can use whatever you want. I never used hangouts just the aosp message app.
The one you install on your phone isn't even an sms app it just links to the tablet app through your google account.
Try it out.

Is there anyway to reply to text messages on the watch with typing??
It's not always convenient to reply with voice and I'd love a mini keyboard or something on the watch to use for ease.
Anyone have a solution?
Thanks
try this http://minuum.com/minuum-on-smartwatch/ havent tried it but will soon sometimes voice isnt always accurate for me
Minuum and this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.michy.wearmessenger&hl=en work pretty well for me. Tried other ones but always come back to this, so worth a couple bucks imo.
Yes, Wear messenger work well with few different keyboard. I prefer the FlipKey with big keys.
I use wear messenger, then I sideloaded Google's keyboard apk and I have working swype on my smart watch.
