Could someone tell me what is the best way to use two GV numbers on my EVO? I mean, without logging out of one and logging into another. TIA
I use two different browsers and access the web app for google voice. Not the most elegant, but gets the job done.
That's an idea haven't thought of. I'll try that, thanks.

If anyone should stumble into this thread I thought I'd mention an app I found that worked for me. It's Flex Dialer Pro and is in the Market. It took some playing around to get it working right and it cost 3 bucks, but I like it.

I'm looking into buying a Google Voice App. Did a few searches, but the reviews are mostly outdated and some of the cons are undoubtedly fixed.
Wondering if anyone recently done the same search and what conclusion you came to?

If you mean the program that records calls, I had an issue one time on my HD7. I used the app on an Android and it recorded a call and kept showing the icon on the lockscreen of my HD7 when I started using it. What it did was mix up the voice message origin between the Google app and the built-in app. I could never get the icon to go away until I made a new voice message to my HD7 using the built-in app. Then I was able to delete the message and make the icon disappear.
I stopped using Google Voice because of that.
I've been using GoVoice, and its worked pretty good so far. Its a far cry from the official Google Voice app I had on android, so I'm hoping socket support comes soon, and hoping Google will make an official app like they did with the iPhone.
I come from using a Nexus One so the switch has been painful to say the least. I do like GoVoice somewhat. Hate the fact that you have to sign up for a third party service to get push notifications. Otherwise it's an ok app.
My pick is FreeTalk. I was using GoVoice before, but I found that FreeTalk offers a more user friendly interface. I like the fact that when I start up FreeTalk, you can immediately choose to either look at your messages or immediately swipe to the phone keypad hub screen to make a call. This is especially useful to me, as I make a lot of international calls through Google Voice. Lastly, for those who might need this feature, there is a non-English translation option that will translate your SMS and text voicemails to another language. I am not sure if this is built-in into the Android version, and I don't think I saw it in GoVoice either.
I have successfully been able to set up google voice on my 101 to send and receive sms messages. Install google voice from the market, go through the set up as if you were installing on your phone (you must have a google voice number). Once set up just start texting, it will work on both devices at the same time. You will also be able to get any voice mail you have set up with it. I also have been albe to set up Tango video chat using my google voice number. I now have almost everything thats on my EVO working on my 101. Still working on a possible way to make calls, will post if I can get it working. Hope this helps someone else like it did for me.

What sms app are you using? I get a force close when I try to use "this phone" during setup.

I'm using google voice with my google number. Just set it up like you would on your phone. Do you have the gapps installer? You need to install that first, then download google voice from the market.

I get a force close when I try to use "this phone" during setup. Did you do anything different when you were going through the Google Voice setup?
No nothing special, it only took me a couple minutes. It asked me witch phone I was using and I told it my evo, then skip the carrier setup and it works. Dont know why it would be force closing, didn't have any issues with google voice or Tango video chat. Do you have google voice set up on another device? Mine is set up on my evo, so when it asks what I wanna use I tell it my evo.

OH, no. The google voice is just supported at USA.
How can I change my location or network location to USA?
Anybody get anywhere on this?
I am trying to do the same thing... I wanted to see if anybody has made any real progress with this.
I keep reading that the SIPdroid and PBX account will work, but I can not configure it properly. I am having a hard time here.
I have Fring installed as well.
I have had a Google voice account for a year now and I have it working on the Archos 101 tablet already. The text and voicemail works great.
Thought that I would revive this thread a little since it is something that I am very interested in.
I had it set up at one point, using Sipdroid. but then my archos got fried and now I am stuck at the "setting up voicemail" part... sucks. when i get it figured out I will let you know how exactly to get it running.

You can use the edited apk from the Xoom forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11955195&postcount=75
Edit: ****
You do not need to be rooted to use this. Download the apk and then run it. When prompted for which phone you are using, select your regular phone, as was previously mentioned by jeffsanace.
What has happened to the TTS voice that was on previous versions on android?
The UK voice was a quality female one, which worked very well. The new one ok the Nexus is male and far worse. The pronunciation of words is far worse with this, it make many more mistakes. A big step backwards, I hate it.
Where can I get a APK with the old, superior, TTS engine. Think it was called Pico TTS.
The Galaxy Nexus have male voice? Damn. I didn't knew.
Could be worse. The voice on my Nexus One pronounces 'meadowside' as 'meadowseed'. Took me awhile to figure out what she was talking about.
Download the free Text-to-speech app from the Marketplace, it's called eSPeak TTS. If not, try SVOX. There will probably be a port if others really want it, seems simple enough to accomplish.
Neither seem to work on the Nexus Galaxy.
You can't install any of these engines so that they appear as selectable in the settings. the only engine ever selectable is the "Google TTS Engine"
Yeah, i'd like her back too. Much prefer the old one back, any idea's anyone?
The new one sucks. I thought it sounded like the phone has been smoking for too many years, lol. I also think it's too slow when using navigation.
Speaking of incorrect pronunciation, there is a street in San Antonio called Wurzbach which navigation pronounced it, wasbitch. Seriously, no joke.
I also found my GN now says, for example, "at the traffic circle, take the third exit" whereas the previous voice would correctly call this a roundabout.

It doesn't know street names anymore either. I had the SVOX running fin on my N1 but when I use Grace (SVOX) I some times get it telling my some bizarre URL with "Turn right onto route 24 north" jammed in the middle.
I know this is an old thread but...
IVONA tts seems to let you install it then will appear in the language and input screen allowing you to change the voice. There are quite a few to download and all seem to be good quality.
GN has TTS? Wow ive been missing out. I remember fumbling around in settings trying to get text messages to be read out to me but never figured out how. Anyone enlighten me? I'm on 4.0.4

Buy ecid from the shop (enhanced sms and caller id), it also tells you whos calling and it can read emails too.
The ivona tts's are fantastic, really clear, very lifelike and now work fine with ics.
I don't understand... the maps/navigation voice (I'm assuming this is the system-wide TTS as this is the only time I've experienced it) is by far the smoothest, most correctly-pronounced female voice I've ever heard... even better than Siri I might conclude.
Here's a sample I just uploaded. How is that so horrible?
I used to be a hater of Sense ROMS, but a few months ago I decided to go with MikG3.11 and am rather pleased with it. Very fluid once you set up V6 and other tweaks. I used to use Google Voice with my decks 1.3d setup, however, I lived in a rural area and used Google Voice mainly to text on wifi since I had no signal.
I have since moved and have service everywhere and want to try and use Sprints VM app, but Idk how to get the visual voicemail to work. Do I have to actually subscribe or is there a work around?
Bump? :XX
VVM in mikg works already.... You don't need to subscribe. What exactly is the problem?
When you receive a voicemail, just open the voicemail app, and click on it. It should open it and have a GUI instead of a dialer

Well I tried sending myself a voicemail and it didn't transcribe it. Just had a button that said subscribe. Do I have to reflash and port all my apps over again?

I downloaded the rom and went through the files of the zip and pulled the apk from it and installed, saw a guide for ICS to provision it and got it working, but didn't use the app in the post....
Got it provisioned, moved to system/app and it downloads my VM's, but it still wont transcribe. Help?

The Voice-to-Text feature of VVM is a subscription service. You typically get a 30-day free trial prior to subscribing, but after that, yes, some fee gets charged to your Sprint bill.
I think that's what you're asking.
Ah, ok. So all the threads I've seen is to just get the app. There is no way to actually get VVM unless you subscribe then. Shame really, I enjoyed the feature on Google Voice, but since I now live in an area with service, I'm trying to break away from it because I never did really enjoy it. Unless somebody knows how to have it alert for JUST voicemails, and not texts, as I now use a different messenger app, would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

It handles Voicemails by default. That part is free.
that part I know, but I always liked being able to take a glance at it and get a basic idea of what the message was about.... but 2$ a month... it's not bad, but I already get charged a stupid fee of 5$ for a "spending limit" that they qualified me for of which I didn't ask
I just got a Nexus 5x and I'm looking to at least try project Fi for a week or 2. That said I don't feel like carrying around 2 phones all the time. Id like to forward my texts from my old phone but its a windows phone. There doesn't appear to be any way to do that I can see. There doesn't appear to be any text forwarding or mirroring apps that work on windows phone.
Is there anything you all know about it? Even if it's a web portal or something I can log into. I've tried a few different 3rd party SMS apps but they all use the number on the current phone, I cant find one that I can add a different text account...this would be the ideal solution.
Tried logging into verizon messages in the browser and I can get in but the text interface never loads.
Like I said this is only for a week or 2 so even a fairly clunky solution would be acceptable at this point.

Im not trying to transfer my old messages from one phone to another....Im trying to make it so if my windows phone gets a text message the nexus will too..that way I don't have to carry my old phone around with my to check text messages.
Give people the google fi number and have them text that number and if you decide you do not like google fi try and to get the number ported to google voice and forward that to the windows phone.

I suggest you find the section for your windows phone as there will be other people/experts there familiar with windows phones that can help you better than us as this is android.
From my limited expose I would say probably not but I could be wrong.
