Hi
Is it possible to disable ota update?
You can set "update notification cycle" to "off".
It's in the settings of update center.

Disabling of such things is usually not an option (as manufacturers implement it). But look in running apps. I think I saw something like "update service" or similar. If you freeze this one, the "app" or "setting" shouldn't be able to check for new updates.
Other than this, there is an option to just get notification of new updates and decide for yourself whether or not you want to download the update. This can be found under the last item in settings "about your tablet">"software update". Under the last item here you find an OS and an apps section.
Hope I could help or at least give some useful hints.
Thank you both very much! I found it now. No more fear going into bootloop after update of my cwm tab.

Like the title says.
I've got background sync enabled, I've set the news feed to update every hour and I've got wi-fi enabled, but I get no updates unless I hit the refresh button.
Any idea what might be the problem here?
Mine dont either mate and it puts them in the wrong order
same problem here
Same here.
Same issue here.
Same here.
Same problem here with the addition that even after a manual update by clicking the bottom of the widget, the widget is still showing me the old reports and not the newly fetched ones... until I click on top to go further into a more expanded view.
Another query to this I've been researching is if there is any way to set the number of days to keep the old reports showing?
It becomes a mess very quickly like this.

i have the same issue, is there anybody with a solutio?
it must be issue with Sense's HTC News app...
Doesn't seem to be a fix for it, whereas the failure of scheduled updates in Friendstream can be fixed by re-entering the desired auto-update regime.
Annoying, but made me look for other options, found Newsroom which is awesome (although dedicated Google Reader users should probably look elsewhere until an update adds that funcationality).
Hello,
So I'm trying to setup automated check-ins from Google Latitude. When I go in to the Location Settings, there is an option called "Automatic check-ins" when I select it, it says, "settings saved", but when I exit and go back to the menu, it's no longer is checked.
Anyone else have this issue? I'm testing it out and it doesn't update unless I manually do it.
Oh and I'm running JB (stock)

Seems to be a common problem. http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=33719
So it seems... I tried Googling and didn't find a fix. I'm kinda hoping someone else here shares the same issue and knows a workaround
Helloo!! Anyone else with this particular problem?
Yup same problem here. It always asks if I want to check in, so I'll need to manually say yes. I don't think this was a issue in the previous version of maps so maybe it's a bug that will be fixed in the next release?

Some people did report seeing this in a previous version of maps...
still a problem
The tracker on Google Code (as posted above) shows some people with it resolved.
Still a problem for me, with latest maps update on CM9. It does seem like it might be a server side issue, as the menu shows "Retrieving settings..." when it is first loaded.
When I check the box, it says "Saving selection..." then "Your selection has been saved" but when I leave the menu and come back, it is unchecked again.

Still also an issue with me on cm10. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has this working and if they ever had issues.

Hi all,
I received a notification that there are updates available.... a dialog with title:
"Application updates available"
and question:
"Would you like to install the following application updates?".
Under this question, is a list of items which seem to be checked, but I am unable to uncheck (greyed out).
I wouldn't have thought about this at all, except I found it strange that the first item seems to be spelled incorrectly. It lists:
"Downlaods (Update)"
instead of what I would have expected "Downloads (Update)".
As this came from seemingly an official update for android, I would not have expected such an obvious spelling error. And it made me suspicious.
The other items are :
* Software Updates Agent (Update)
* Software Updates (Update)
Question:
Did anyone else get this update and install it? Is it safe ? How the hell did such an obvious spelling error get missed ?

Hi, sorry to dig up an old post, but I just started getting this message on my phone a couple days ago and was looking for some information on it. (Same notification icon, though I have not yet clicked on it.) The first couple times it came up, I went to the Google Play store and did have a couple apps that needed updates, but the icon didn't go away until I restarted my phone. Today I have the notification, but no apps to update in Google Play. Is this more of a system update thing? I have a T-Mobile MyTouch 4G Slide. Just want to make sure I'm not going to download a virus or something..!
Its a official system update by htc.... its not a virus....
"usage notification bar" and "T-M my acct." dissapeared from my notification panel!
I have the original ROM 4.3 T-M Note-3. When we do the finger pull-down, notification panel normally has a notification bar (with used SMS, minutes and traffic) and icon for "T-Mobile my account" shortcut (I think it's seen all the time in the top left corner of the screen.)
Mine has both gone, when I go to T-M folder in apps "T-M my account" is still there - new updated version 3.6.70 with option to "display usage information in the notification bar" grayed out(!!!)
I tired everything possible and could not get it back to work - even uninstalled the update and went back to the original version. The original version allows me to check/uncheck "display usage information in the notification bar" but does not make any difference.
As suggested by T-M tech support did a master reset, the bar showed up but as soon as the back-up installed all the updates and programs it's gone again. And no I did not recently install any programs which could kill that. I only have a few streaming radio programs on the top of built-ins.
I had a problem before when the usage bar was not updating, went into the application manager and cleared cache/data and it went back to normal.
BTW every time I restart the phone I get that stupid notification about "application being forced to stop for unauthorized attempt..."
So everyone else has it working fine???
Just tried it on mine and it popped right up in the notification bar. I'm on the stock 4.3 rooted rom. If it everything else fails I would suggest you Odin back to the official 4.3 rom, re root, and install the stock 4.3 deodexed rom.

Houston, we have a problem (nobody cares about)?
I found it extremely useful (when it was working till late) due to listening to the radio and having limited traffic.
T-M is in denial as usual.
Anybody?

that's the new firmware we received last week... just installed the app, working fine for me, did on the old and the new one now...
I want the messages to stop appearing on the screen when I receive them. I try to change from here, but nothing opens to choose another option. I also reset in the developer menu but nothing changes. After many years on Samsung, it seems to me that everything is messed up here. Thank you
I assume you mean with the google messages app. Not many options in the app but if you long press the icon and choose app info -> notifications -> additional settings -> bubbles there is an option for "nothing can bubble". Try that.
I don't use the google app or have the phone on a sim yet, so I can't verify. Please report back if it works.

Thanks for the reply. It is correct what you say and that is how it should be. I know I have to walk here BUT I CAN'T. The phone (software) doesn't let me choose anything else when I press "importance"! Do not open other options! Not to show anything in the balloon was already activated. I've had the phone for 6 days and as much as I like how it looks (the only reason I bought it) the software is a joke. I am totally disappointed. I am seriously thinking of returning it. Apart from the cameras, I really consider it successful. But the software is bad.
I tried to change the setting to only one person, but it still doesn't work.
Sorry for bad english ! Google translate.
I installed and tried another messaging application from the PlayStore and I was able to set other notifications! The default application (from google) does not allow you to set other priorities.
Disappointing!
