ROM with the best Battery Life?

Which Rom do u guys think has the best battery life?
My say is SILLIAN Rom but it was banned from the site.
So now I am using Virtuous.

I am looking for a rom with good battery life, I just got the phone and I love it, but it should have a bigger battery! My Cliq XT had a biiger battery, at 1390 mA lol. I have tried CM7-RC1 and now I'm on CM7 Nightly (released on the 25th). Currently downloading Virtuous and will give that a shot.

Stock ROM. Period.
I have been unsuccessful in finding a ROM that can match the crazy battery life that I got on stock.
I used to get 30+ hours on stock. Now, I can't get more than 10 for sure..
I keep jumping from ROM to ROM, maybe that could be an issue too with battery stats in CWM and stuff... but as far as I'm concerned, stock is the best option for the best battery life.

I noticed No difference with stock over any cm rom i have used. Battery sucks. Htc overall sucks with battery life. For some reason any htc device i ever had sucks balls. My mt4g was probably the only good phone in terms of battery.
Otherwise htc is retarded.... 1200mah is plain dumb on a smartphone.

Different people have different results. You're gonna see someone with every rom in the dev section claiming ridiculous battery life. When it comes down to it you have to realize everyone uses their phone different and the rom isn't gonna make the biggest difference, its how u configure and use it.
No matter the rom, using things like SetCPU, juicedefender, etc. and other battery savers can improve ur battery life. Most dev roms are going to offer better performance and life, just choose one you like and set it up the way u like it. The only way to know what to rom offers the best life for u is trying several and comparing.

I'm getting nearly two days (40+) hours on CM6.1.1 stable. That's about the same as I got on stock.
I leave wifi on 85% of the time and my average daily use:
~30 texts via Google Voice
~20 minutes talk
~30 minutes XDA app
~60 minutes playing X Construct
~30 minutes browsing
~15 minutes Facebook app

No. I'm not kidding. Rooted via the non-ADB method. Flashed CM6.1.1 and didn't mess about with any different kernels or radios.
However, when I try CM7, my battery life is halved. Maybe I got lucky. Best battery life I've ever had on a smartphone. Not even my old Dash lasted this well.

Its because hes hardly using his phone... If you have a screen off profile and let your phone sit for long extents of time you can easily get that kinda life. Don't expect it when you actually use it regularly or keep the screen on for any length of time. See these are the people I'm talking about. You're always gonna find someone running every ROM out there that say he/she gets great battery life on it.
I personally am on CM7 overclocked to 1ghz and im at 43% battery with 12h 34m of usage today. General usage off and on, texting all day and some phone calls/app usage etc. The problem is I can easily have days where I only get 12h out of the whole battery because I'm on the phone all day doing things.
Even something as small as signal strength where you use your phone can effect your battery life numbers. take every battery life screenshot with a large grain of salt. The best thing about the battery meter in 2.3 is that it at least shows how long the screen has been off so you can tell when people just idle their phones to claim huge battery life numbers.

That is one of the things I really liked about CM7. The battery graph.
Never said I was a heavy user. I quantified my average use by time and activity. Still, with the same average use, my battery life on CM6 far outstrips CM7. They're both excellent roms. I like many of the new features in CM7. However, the battery life and GPS troubles influence me to continue using CM6 as my daily driver.
Once I figure out how to replicate the battery life or CM7 hits stable, I'll gladly upgrade.

Try out some CM7 nightlies.
I'm on nightly 12 and I get excellent battery life: as much or even better than stock. GPS also works without a hitch. I remember my first lock took like 20s max. And navigated without a data connection using Navigate (voice guided) for 45 minutes without a hitch. After that may bat was at about 79% I ended up not charging until 15 hours later.
So yes, Nightly 12, atleast for me, is solid. And I will never upgrade until something better comes along.. like the Meizu rom.. your mileage will vary though.

here is what i get out of a day (battery consumption for specific tasks are mentioned in percentages measured using juiceplotter)
wifi on constantly
display set to 24% brightness
background sync enabled (google, weather 6hrs, whatsapp and facebook once a day)
45 min video (rockplayer no h/w decoding) 15%
1 hr browsing+chat 15%
30 min calls 6%
20 min music+chat 5%
20 min general usage 5%
1 hr flash streaming 15%
24 hrs standby 24% (@ 1% for every hr of standby)
15% battery remaining after 24 hrs i.e. low battery warning.
pretty amazing battery life IMO i am very happy.

Cyanogen....the best rom out there and it gives you amazing battery life.I'm using cm 7 nightly 26 and I can go a whole day on moderate use.

Hello.How is official ics(4.0.4? on the nitro hd? Is it better than gingerbread in performance, does it have better benchmark results than gb,better battery, is video playback smooth, is the browser and gaming smooth? Would anyone want to go back to GB?BTW if i update does it have any result on the screen?Asking cause im not sure to update. Thx for the answers.

I'm sure no one would go back to gingerbread here, benchmarks don't really matter. Stock ics is super smooth. I just don't use it because atm there are better roms available like hono full throttle and cm10 preview.

I would go back. I can't stand half time of battery life regardless of all ICS features. I already got "double capacity" battery from Amazon, but still it's far from GB longevity on stock battery. There are other ROMs, but you need to root the phone and install some kind of CPU Sleeper app. In my case Android OS consumes 40% of the juice and is awake most of time. In GB the major consumer was the screen and I can afford it because the screen is nice . Here in ICS they fixed it by worsening Android OS power consumption Not good improvement at all.

Did you do factory reset after installing ICS update? You should if you haven't.

Can you please help me root my nitro which I updated to ics via the LG tool. Is there a way to root this device which is already running LG's 4.0.3? Please help!!

I did factory reset (remember the other thread). It improved the life but not too much actually...

I don't know how you guys are getting bad battery life with the official ICS.
I've been averaging 15 hours of battery life on the official release with pretty heavy use throughout the day... I can provide a screen shot of my battery use screen if desired.
I'm also using the stock LG 1800 mAh battery, and not an extended battery.

Wow you might want to see what is causing that under GB I could never go all day on the HC battery let alone stock the ONLY thing I have found better was CM9 stable but not by much. BTW I am only running RAM booster to manage my apps nothing else. Screen shot with official ICS and stock battery and over an hour of phone calls plus my entire lunch break on the phone:

I had a chat with AT&T support and folowed their instruction: Do factory reset, DO NOT RESTORE ALL APPS, only restore/update preinstalled apps, install/restore other apps one by one to find "incompatible" apps.
During first 6 hours after reset with only preinstalled apps it was ok. Then I reinstalled Yahoo Mail to sync address book. It also was ok. Then in 3 hours I installed WhatsApp and that was not soo good. Going to stop it and check if it is the problem. May be uninstall is better. Not sure yet. :fingers-crossed:
Also I'll put back stock battery just to do not compare apples to oranges

As of right now, I would gladly go back. I have an extended battery. Before the update, I regularly got 1½ - 2 full days with moderate to heavy use. No longer. Last night I unplugged my phone at 2 am with 100% charge. Eleven hours later, it sits at 23% with no usage other than 2 short phone calls, 4 or 5 texts, and no gameplay or other usage. Factory reset or no, this is just plain pathetic. I'm pretty confident that if I had the stock battery in right now, I would be lucky to get 3 hours out of it before having to charge.
I have also had issues with lagging, especially while typing text. And finally, my touchscreen seems to be...."off." Touches no longer register completely accurately. Seems to affect the right half of the screen more than the left.

Something must have gone very wrong with your installation of the V20C official ICS.
Not only have I had no problems with my installation, but I also get much better battery life on rooted V20C ICS than on CM9.
Here is my battery usage so far today, on the stock LG 1800 mAh battery (not the 3800 mAh battery).

Your phone is probably staying awake 100%. I had the same problem with the official ICS firmware. I tried installing it thought the official installer and using the flashable version through CWM. Factory reset and froze all the bloatware. Same problem with both of them. Phone stays awake almost all the time and hardly ever goes to sleep. I went back to CM9.

Well now I have new problems. Did a factory reset, and now every time I unplug the charger (car OR wall), the phone immediately shuts off. Juuuuuuust great. I wish I had NEVER done the upgrade. Shame on me for not waiting and reading about others' troubles first.

I've had no problems. Battery life is way better (hyperion 3800mah). Super smooth and definitely the best launcher out there. Sucks that telus deleted the themes though.

You might want to try forceably reflashing the ICS update. Perhaps something got corrupted the first time around or something, I don't know. To do it, you would have to follow the directions from the unbricking guide except use the Telus KDZ from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1838346 . Consider using a different USB cable if you have one just to rule out the possibility of a problematic cable that caused the flashing to get corrupted.
Unfortunately I have no idea why you would be experiencing the problems you're having.

OK. Thanks for that info. The factory reset has definitely left me with serious charging issues. Left the phone charging all night, and it only charged to 56%! That was with a solid 8 hours plugged in with the factory cable/plug.
Is there a particular reason I need to use that specific Telus KDZ? Just curious.

That KDZ is Telus's version of ICS. It's the same file that automatically gets downloaded by LG's updater tool if you use it normally. The problem is that LG in their infinite wisdom won't let you reinstall ICS because "there is no update available". The unbricking guide basically tricks the updater into applying the update anyway, but you have to manually download the KDZ you want to install.
You don't HAVE to install that one. You could also install Bell's or AT&T's ICS if you wanted to try it. But I don't think there's a good way to get back to Telus Gingerbead unless someone has a backup of it they can post. You could install a custom ROM though.
BTW, is it possible the problem is actually with the battery itself and it's just a coincidence? Are you using an OEM battery?

That was something that was REALLY ticking me off last night as I fought with this.

Didn't really want to go the custom ROM route with this phone...but I might. I'm on at&t FWIW, but I'm not opposed to another company's ROM. I do like several of the unlocking features and other visual tweaks of LG's ICS, but I don't know how the custom ROMs would compare in that regard.
BTW, is it possible the problem is actually with the battery itself and it's just a coincidence? Are you using an OEM battery?

Anything is possible, but it seems like too much of a coincidence. I'm using a QCell extended battery. It's maybe six months old at the most. With GB I regularly got 2 days on a charge with fairly heavy usage. Immediately upon updating to ICS, battery life dropped to roughly 16 hours. I didn't do the factory reset for roughly one week after updating, as I <stupidly> did not do any research before the update. Immediately after the reset my battery issues compounded with the slow/no charge and shut down on power cord unplug / reboot on power cord plug in. Sadly, my stock battery is 630 miles away. So I have no way of eliminating the battery as being the issue.

CM 10 Battery Life on GS3

My battery life on CM10 has been terrible. I have barely anything running, i've even installed this custom kernel to combat battery life

Ditch lean kernel. Do you have Chrome installed? It has an undocumented feature. It does unspeakable things to your battery. There seems to be at least a little incompetence going on in Chrome's code.

I apologize if I have offended you in some way. But anyone with any experience with troubleshooting will tell you that a problem is easier to pin down when you eliminate all unnecessary variables. And since I've read about and personally experienced anomalies with lean kernel, I suggested it first.

I do have chrome, i guess ill use firefox

I don't have Chrome nor any custom kernel. I agree, cm10 battery life leaves much to be desired, even with juice defender installed. I hope it improves w/future builds. Battery on cm9, on the other hand, was awesome.

Hmm, Im using CM10 nightlies AND lean kernel, and my phone seems to last well beyond my expectations.

No problems for me. I get 4-5 hours of screen time and 16-18 hours overall.

What version of CM10 are you running? I'm giving it sometime, but just flashed CM10 M1 last night, and am wondering if a change from cyanogenmod's kernel may help with battery. Got about 6 hours of lite-moderate use today on my I747

What things are you running in the background (NFC, GPS, vibration, haptic feedback, etc.)? I'm running CM10 9/15 nightly with ktoonsez's kernel with a 1.9Ghz overclock and my phone lasts from 8 in the morning to 1 in the morning. Today my screen's been on for just over 4 hours.
Another thing to check for is are you located somewhere where you consistently get good signal? If your phone is constantly reacquiring 3G or 4G or constantly searching for signal it's going to cause a severe drain on your battery.

I'm using SmartassV2 with SIO. I know I'm old school with SmartassV2, but comeon the name alone is worth whatever marginal performance increase I could get with some of the newer governors.

Well I notice that when I'm on screen, my battery drains like nuts. I slept 8 hours and I went from 100% to 88% which isn't bad at all, however if I'm texting or w/e, checking the web (keep in mind everything is off, I'm not a retard, and my brightness is at maximum low), battery eats like nuts. Is there a kernel or specific rom I should install?

This kernel? It says that if you install it, and you want to go back to stock, you need to reinstall the drivers. Wtf does that even mean? Where the hell would you even find the drivers. Sounds too high risk lol

I am running the latest CM10 build and my battery life is terrible as well. Wednesday night I was about 75% charger before bed and when I woke up, less than 7 hours later, my phone was off with no juice. I tested it again last night with about 85% left and it was dead again this morning. I have the same app installed that I had installed on stock and did not have these issues. I absolutely know and understand this things differ from person to person and settings to settings, but I am not sure my settings are that different from when I was on stock. I fairly enjoy the ROM, so I am just dealing with it.

Well, I've charged my phone to 100 last night, wiped battery stats (still on lean kernel), and i put my phone to sleep, and it drained only 8% which is very good (7 hours of standby). Now where my battery drains like a **** is during on screen time. I've put brightness all the way down to low, but I see people who get 20 hours with 5 hours of screen time. I could only wish to get such battery life lol. I wanna try that k747 kernel but I'm scared about losing my original USB and and **** drivers and I have no idea how I would go about restoring them if I no longer like the kernel lol.

CM10 battery life isn't that great. There was one nightly build that had outstanding battery life, but I can't remember which one it was.

If you both read his OP all you have to do to get the original drivers back is Reflash your ROM that has those drivers. It isn't a huge deal also to the guy going 80%-0 overnight, you have an app eating processes in the back destroying your battery.

[Q] Battery life?

This is my typical battery life I'm getting is this normal with stock jb Rom? Which of the sense roms have the best battery life? I know best way to find out is to try the different roms but I'm a college student and I really don't have time to check each out. Thanks in advance!

Battery life depends on how u use it and diferent roms have different mods, so the rom best for me may npt be best for u. I have found ordroid rom to give decent enough battery.

yeah I understand that. My question was that is battery life supposed to be like this on the OneX ? Idk what kind of battery life its supposed to be getting. The previous phone i came from was lg g2x which with jellybean custom rom ran out every 3 hrs I always had to take my spares with me to make it through the day. I don't do any heavy gaming on my hox just lite puzzle games. I listen to music, sometimes read an ebook, messaging, check emails, and occationally browsing to look something up.
Is undervolting/throttling the t3 possible?

u have the wifi on at all times
no wonder u are having battery issues
try to turn off wifi when not in use
without wifi and data on, I get 1-2% drop in battery overnight (more than 8 hours)
and on a daily basis, I get 1 and half days of battery - normal browsing, gaming, calling
that is after 2nd jellybean update - which aims to improve battery life and remove a few bugs

using my stock jb hox with the second mini update, since yesterday (1day 5h) and i have 45% battery. using it on wifi half a day on facebook, browsing, listening to music on my way to work and back, sync on for all services, whatsapp, etc, etc.

Try out ncx kernel by neocortex.. it did quite well for my battery life. Also install betterbatterystats app. Sometimes some rowdy app may not allow phone to go to deepsleep. It causes partial wakeblock . The app will allow to check if this is happening. If it is remove that app causing wakeblock

My HOX was a battery life tome on apx. two days (occasionally 2½ days) and I use it like this:
I go to school every weekday for 4-5 hours, which means that the phone is not used that much in this time. Occasional Whatsapp messages and texts and maybe a phonecall lasting a few minues. The wifi is off during this period of time.
After school, I use Facebook, Maps, Google Now, checks mails, chats on Whatsapp and texts on a regular basis. Maybe a few phone calls as well. In the late afternoon / early evening I get home - and Tasker turns on my wifi which lasts until next morning when I leave the house (Tasker automatically turns the wifi off) during the night Titanium Backs up the phone.
I only get apx. one day of battery life, if I start playing all those games you can get... So I more than often don't play games on my phone.

Thanks for all the replys guys... I just experienced some wierd stuff again. I charged it over night and its saying its only 66 % charged... Looking at history it apparentlycharged and started drilaining like this: is this supposed to happen? This was on charge the whole time and it was pretty warm when I picked it up off my bed

How much screen time do you have with the picture you posted in the first post?
I have my wi fi on all the time too but I can easily get 20-24 hrs of battery with 3-3.5 hrs of screen time on stock.

A little less than 12 hrs however I can say my mobile signal is spotty at time cause I have basement classes and same with WiFi going across campus and in lecture halls

Umm I meant how long was your screen lit up. If you have Jelly Bean you need an app like GSAM to check that

its known issue with HOXS battery life sucks on stock rom get custom rom I would rather ARHD great battery life and also greater performance than stock

Wipe Data After Rom Update?

I was just wondering if it is advised formatting the phone after a rom update. I updated without from stock L4 to L7, and then to DMB3. I only wiped the cache and dalvic cache each time.
So I'm wondering, would I likely see any difference if I did a full wipe of my current rom abd starting fresh? The only reason I'm considering this is I'm hoping it will make a differencr to my idle battery drain.

Absolutely not. There is no meaning in wiping after you updated. It's only needed when you are downgrading.

Maybe someone can help or offer any advice? Over time I've made many tweaks eliminating as much as I can. But here are my recent battery stats in case someone can offer any help. The screen only taking up 29% is worrying. Also, I noticed an improvement when I turned wifi to go off with screen off... which is absurd really and clearly a bug.

Sorry to be rude but i dont quite see what the problem is? lol you getting nearly 2 days of battery out of a handset with a screen big enough to be a solar panel?? Even if i only use my handset for about 30% od its on time im looky to get 9 maybe 10 hours?
I think its awesome you have got it this long. Bur yh to reiterate do NOT format your device you will softbrick your phone. And factory reset is deleting the rom you have just installed.

Don't reboot in silent mode.
It's a bug.
Just reboot in normal mode.
If you are on 4.1.2 then don't expect more screen time for now.
Download rescan media root from play store and disable media scanner.

It's one day, not two. The problem being on 4.1.1 most of us could get almost 10 hours screen on time and closer to 2 days overall. It becomes a big issue when you know the battery should be much better, even if its still "good." No reason whatsoever for Samsung to destroy the amazing battery life of 4.1.1.

Yeah, so blame Samsung.
What you are getting is absolutely normal. I also had 9-10 hours of screen on time on 4.1.1. Don't know what Samsung ****ed up in 4.1.2, but I just never got that high screen on time! The max I got was 8 hours, god knows how, but that's just once.
I have switched to another kernel, NEAK to be precise, and I have already got 8+ hours screen on time twice. Maybe you could give it a try, until Samsung fixes this, that is if they fix it.

Thanks for the tip.
I'm on the LTE version so not sure if the kernel is availablr for it. But even so, I am forced to use stock rom and kernel so I can toggle root on and off and use the "SkyGo" app. Unfortunately the idiots at sky restricted it working on rooted phones and then only way to "trick" it to work is by using a stock rom and kernel.
Unfortunately I'm stuck with it and cant explore anything else without sacrificing that app.

As much as I respect your post, mine on stock 4.1.1, 4.1.2 and omega roms, had my screen brightness @30%. On ALL the roms after 7 hours of screen uptime my battery was between 30 and 35%. Wifi and data we set on only when needed.
I have much trouble believing you reached 2 days with 10h screen time, YES if you let it idle the rest of the time for one day extra. If you would have said 10 hours 1 day I would have believed you but the aabove story requires fission battery design.
There is some difference between roms in terms of drains but looking at that screenshot you barely reach half of the time you previously said you would. The difference proved it's way off by a far margin even for a bad rom. 10 hours even for a note 2 IS a killer, or better said you will definitely go under 30%.
Where I do agree with you... is that I get 2 days (nowdays) with screen br @40% on average 4-5 hours + wifi and data on.
On the positive side...no offence

It was closer to 2 days than one and around 10 hours screen on time. I remember being way over a day and I also remember being over 9 hours screen time a few times also.
The 4.1.2 update have brought about a big difference in battery drain and I won't get anywhere near that even after applying countless tweaks.
My HTC EVO 3D would possibly drain 1% overnight. The Note 2 drains around 10%.
Samsung have made a mess of the update and it is hard arguing against that. Maybe it's different for you because you turn off wifi and data. I don't and won't and haven't needed to on my previous phones.
