will i be able to root the new kindle fire hd v7.6.8 with the last root since it is so close in version with the last and if not can someone post me a link to a tutorial

My rooted fire will not update to 6.3.1, the update box is dark! Any Ideas????
Try using the latest version of Modaco rom for the Kfire. It is rooted 6.3.1.
The update box doesn't work unless you download the update from amazon the put it in the kindle updates folder
Then the button should work

You will lose root when it updates, it shouldn't brick when it updates or anything. As for the difference between 7.4.3 and 10.4.3, 7.x.x series updates are for kindle fire HD 7" models where as 10.x.x series is for the kindle fire 2. You apparently have a kindle fire HD 7" model.

Just to warn you ahead of time you can't flash custom recovery or come to your device yet, so don't try using the methods in the HD forum that describe doing that or you will most likely brick.

Hi
I followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2100963
to install twrp and second bootloader. After reboot the device powered down at the grey kindle fire logo and won't boot at all even when connecting the factory cable.
I'm guessing this is completely bricked but can anyone suggest anything?

Yea the 2013 HD doesn't have the ability to install twrp + 2nd bootloader, if you flashed a bootloader from a previous model it would make sense why it doesn't turn on, it hard bricked it.
