Rooted Fire will Not update - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My rooted fire will not update to 6.3.1, the update box is dark! Any Ideas????

Try using the latest version of Modaco rom for the Kfire. It is rooted 6.3.1.

The update box doesn't work unless you download the update from amazon the put it in the kindle updates folder
Then the button should work

[Q] Update with Root

Hi people i have a question... can I update 7.43 Kindle Fire to 7.46 Kindle Fire without losing my Root or without a brick or similar? Another question[this is of secondary type] what are the differeces beteween 10.4.3 version and 7.4.3 (the mine)???? I'm from Italy <3

You will lose root when it updates, it shouldn't brick when it updates or anything. As for the difference between 7.4.3 and 10.4.3, 7.x.x series updates are for kindle fire HD 7" models where as 10.x.x series is for the kindle fire 2. You apparently have a kindle fire HD 7" model.

Can someone please post some recovery images I can use to get out of fastboot mode
I would really appreciate it
Thanks In advance!.
Why not just flash the older ones available and update to the new one from there?

The order ones I downloaded only have two
Boot and Recovery
It's missing system
Did you try using kindle fire first aid? It should have the system image when you try a system restore.

Ok Using the three images from the link you sent fixed me
I had to use the files from "KFFirstAide" with those images
However the software version is 8.1.4 and update is grey
Do I need root access and enable OTA updates?

Ok used
KFFirstAide
And enabled OTA support then charged the battery and the kindle did the updates
So now I am back to stock 8.4.6 and it's running fast again.
Thanks so much for your help man!
By the way I am thinking of getting the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 - 64G
What do you think?
I'd wait until we have a confirmed root exploit and/or boot loader exploit before getting one, but that's just me.

Good to hear. I won't get one until there is an exploit or two for it.

[Q] KIndle Fire 2nd Gen Won't Turn On

Hi
I followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2100963
to install twrp and second bootloader. After reboot the device powered down at the grey kindle fire logo and won't boot at all even when connecting the factory cable.
I'm guessing this is completely bricked but can anyone suggest anything?
Cheers
J
Yea the 2013 HD doesn't have the ability to install twrp + 2nd bootloader, if you flashed a bootloader from a previous model it would make sense why it doesn't turn on, it hard bricked it.

Thanks I thought I'd done my research and got a guide for 2nd gen. You live and learn I guess.
Thanks for replying.

Wiped First Gen Kindle Fire now its stuck in a boot loop with force close errors

I bought a kindle fire second hand that had Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 on it and i went to reset it back to the factory settings by downloading the newest Kindle software and following instructions online. It had TWRP as the loader on it and now when I use the KFU it will not let me change the boot mode (says it is unknown). No matter what I do the Kindle will not get out of the boot loop. Please help!!

twrp is a custom Recovery
fff is a custom bootloader
stock firmware can only be installed using twrp 2.2.2.1 or older
what firmware version (filename) did you try installing?
KFU is dead
likely need a fastboot cable now
How to flash twrp and firefirefire with a Fastboot cable

I loaded Amazon Kindle Update 6.3.4 using the TeamWin loader. I ordered the fastboot/factory cable today and should have it by monday. KFU is no longer supported? Is there no other way around this issue using what I have? Thanks.

installing stock is a little tricky
because it reinstalls stock recovery & bootloader, so no twrp or fff
you need to factory reset in twrp before rebooting
if doesn't boot to stock rom, you need a fastboot cable

Thanks for the help. When I get the cable on Monday I am going to try the steps you sent in the post and see if that works. Have you seen the error I am talking about? Where it will startup with the normal Kindle Fire logo and then go into a loop with "android calendar not working, force close" then it reboots and on and on?

if you can root with kingroot or saferoot
you might be able to follow
[6.3.4][6.3.3] Flashing FFF and TWRP without Fastboot Cable with Video
then try a factory reset

Thank you so much for the help! I got the factory cable and was able to install the pre-rooted version. The only other question I have is how do i get Amazon Instant video to work? I have a Prime account and from what it looks like, when the rooted version is on there it knocks out the instant video. Any thoughts?

I flashed 6.3.4 on the Kindle Fire and if I have to do a restart for any reason, once it loads and recognizes my user name, it suddenly reboots itself? Any thoughts on why it would do that?
