Recovery Bootloop Help!! - LG Optimus G Pro

Flashed Philz touch CWM. Flashed BAM ROM. IT ran fine for a day and a half. Flashed the custom kernel, and immediately started getting recovery bootloops. Instead of the boot message saying "Secure Booting Error Causeevice Unlock, So boot Success." It said, " Secure Booting Error Cause:Certification Verify" then I rebooted, and it just went to recovery. I reflashed everything minus the custom kernel, and it gave me the regular message, but it won't actually boot. Someone PLEASE help!!!

Might have to go back to stock.. I guess I was pointing everyone to the wrong recovery when I said look in Madmack's CM thread for his TWRP.
Use this one: https://db.tt/bQeSgkEJ
It says E986 but works perfectly.

Do I have to use the FlashTools? Cuz this won't end. I've wiped everything multiple times, reflashed multiple times, I even factory reset it through hardware keys. Does anyone have an idea before i return to complete stock? It's greatly appreciated

Does PhilzTouch have adb? If so, you could just push that to your device through your PC.
adb push filename /sdcard/filename

Here are the solutions:
1. Download the aroma file manager here
2. Rename the file to aromafm.zip
3. Put the aromafm.zip in "clockworkmod/aromafm/" in any of the storage volumes
4. In Philz touch recovery, tap the Aroma File Manager (it will open the aroma file manager automatically if you put it into the correct folder as stated above)
5. Open the terminal in the aroma file manager
6. Type this:
Code:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/misc bs=1 count=1088
7. Reboot system
DONE!

no need for the computer to see the phone storage. you can put the aroma file manager either in your sdcard or usb storage, both should be readable when you use CWM to open aroma.

why should your computer need to recognize your phone?
you can take out your microsd card & insert it into the memory card reader & transfer the aroma file thru the reader by using your PC or put the aroma file manager thru your usb / pendrive & then use usb otg & CWM will automatically mount the usb storage.

just plug in your usb to your pc & then transfer the file into it. after that plug in USB OTG cable (if you have one) to your phone & connect the pendrive, make sure you are in recovery mode.

[Q] Messed up my phone.

Hello Guys,
So i first had the CyanogenMod 10 Nightly (Latest version installed) at my HTC One X.
I had some issue's that my HTC was randomly rebooting so i decided let's try another custom rom.
So i downloaded this one: [07-12] [ROM] CyanogenMod 10 - Endeavor Unleashed | 029 | UNIFIED HBOOT | 4.2.1
After i downloaded it i followed instructions like i dod before for any other custom rom.
After it was installed the phone rebooted and came at the sim lock screen.
I typed in my numbers i had to but than it gave me errors like system stopped working etc.
So i thought hm a broken rom or something.
But unfortunately i have not backed up any custom or default ROM.
So now i really need your help guys.
Is there any easy way to acces my sdcard in fastboot or recovery mode?
As i can't use my phone at all right now.
Thanks guys.

Hello Gormsen,
Thanks for your reply. :good:
I am in recovery mode with the clockworkmod..
I selected mounts and storage.
Than mount /sdcard
But my pc doesn't detect it if a sd-card storage or any other storage option.
I am running windows 7 x64 at my main computer.
Also i tried the option mount USB storage.
But it gives me this error: E:Unable to open ums lunfile.

Don't select the first option that says sdcard, go to the buttom of the list and selct that one, can't remember it's name, but I think it's usb storage or something like that. Then your pc should detect it at once
Edit:
Sorry, didn't read your post right. Hmmm.. really don't know what's causing that. Do you have the latest HTC drivers installed on your computer?

What recovery are you using, that error seems to stand in line with an older version of the cwm recovery ?
And yes you have to go to
Mounts & storage - mount as USB (at the bottom of that menu)

Well not sure if the version of cwm recovery is the latest one available:
It says: v5.8.1.8
But like you could see in my post it gives the error: E:Unable to open ums lunfile.

What are you talking about man? You don't need to copy recovery over to your sdcard. Just download it and flash it through fastboot.

[Q] Using TWRP on Mac - How do I mount to load a ZIP and install (when fully wiped)??

Made the mistake of wiping all data on my SGS3 (AT&T), rooted, etc.
I'm in TWRP (2.3.3.1) and I want to load a new ROM .zip file via USB cable from my Macbook (OSX).
How can I do this?? Tried mounting internal storage, but nothing happened. I'm basically bricked until I can get another Zip on the phone! Help please!!
You dont have a backup on the phone you can restore or a rom you downloaded that you can flash?
If you have odin (if available for mac) you can use that to put an odin flashable rom onto the phone.
˙ıııs ʎxɐlɐb bunsɯɐs ʎɯ ɯoɹɟ ʇuəs
Odin isn't available for Mac.
I have ROMs to install, but they're on the Mac, and not on the phone..... it is wiped (except for the TWRP recovery).

ODIN is not available for MacOS X, but you can use another software called Heimdall (http://www.glassechidna.com.au/products/heimdall/) to flash a stock ROM into your phone.
Another way to make a (custom) ROM available to flash in TWRP would be to use a microSD card. Use a microSD card reader connected to your computer, and copy your desired ROM into the microSD card. Then, place the microSD card into your phone. TWRP should be able to read the content of your microSD card, and flash the ROM.
Finally, a third way -- I never used that, though -- would be to use ADB sideload capability to sideload a ROM into your phone using ADB. More info about this in the TWRP site (http://teamw.in/ADBSideload).
I don't think you can USB mount your phone into your computer and manage the internal and external storages from your computer while in TWRP.
Or... Get adb for Mac and just do adb push <zip> /sdcard/<zip>
Then navigate to it in TWRP and install.

But these two solutions need a running ROM, right? Or can you connect to your phone through ADB or through MTP while you are in TWRP?
Because Hog Milanese's problem is he wiped his ROM and does not have a ROM in his phone right now. Taking a quick look at TWRP's options, I did not find a way to MTP-connect the phone to a computer nor enable ADB (except for the ADB sideload command) while in TWRP... They work when in ROM, but not when in recovery.

I can't figure a way to get this to work. I'm on a macpro I have TWRP on an original Kindle fire. (TWRP was rooted with a crappy windows 7 desktop that I got rid of.) No roms are currently loaded on the kindle. I can't get the MAC to recognize the Kindle.
I have tried "Android File Transfer" <- worthless... I have also tried my wife's Win10 laptop. <-less worthless but no hope. It seems like the old ways of forcing the driver wont work on Win10.
I'm a little bummed out about how software is forcing hardware to be obsolete.

It has a data partition, but there is no way to access the hard drive on the kindle. I am in the process of making a fastboot usb cable to test and see if I can access it on a Mac. I'll let you know how it goes.
FWIW - the following worked for me - downloading and running AndroidFileTransfer.app on macOS Sierra with my Nexus6 connected via USB booted into TWRP v3.1.0 - file transfer worked without issue. Not sure if newer versions fixed past problems reported by others, but this was working without any work - very grateful to the person who mentioned the androidfiletransfer app!
I was facing same issue... What I found ---
> adb doesn't work while in recovery mode
I was able to copy ROM from Mac to phone by following below steps:
1) Go to fastboot mode
2) fastboot boot recovery.img (any twrp image) -- android file transfer should be able to detect device now as twrp has adb enabled and phone is not in recovery mode
3) Copy your Rom to your phone
4) Fom TWRP : reboot>recovery
5) Install custom ROM and reboot to system
Hope this helps out.

for some reason I can't get into download mode. No matter which buttons (vol up or down, power, home button) it always boots to CWM.
I wonder if I can push twrp as a .zip file through ADB - tried this on win8 - no go - but will use win7 tonight. At least it will give me access to external card I'm home free.

Please read the how to install again, bro. It has been edited and should work fine for everyone now. Sorry for the inconvenience anyways.
Does this in any way allow us to install custom ROMS? As far as I know the Zenfone 5 does not have a custom ROM, since the bootloader is locked, right?
There is something called Asus unlock app in ww 17 firmware. I am guessing it has something to do with unlocking the bootloader. I am not on ww 17, so i cannot vouch for it.
I also saw a ROM called Sphinx for zenfone on a website.

I don't know if all that MOD are not compatible with x86 CPU or it's a problem with TWRP itself but I tried several of them and no succeed. It always say "error executing updater binary in zip"
You guys have any comment ?

It's pretty confusing that twrp can't install zips. Well this twrp is basically for system and data backup.
There's a CWM, with that you can install zip files only by adb sideload. But backing up isn't working there.
I can upload the CWM for Zenfone 5 if you guys want me to

as I said, you have to use adb sideload to install zip with CWM. This is the only way you can flash zips.
SD card won't mount for some reason.

If it's like what you mentioned, what's "install from zip file" in CWM does? Why i cant just flash directly from zip file.
Thank you.

Come on, bro. It's because CWM isn't mounting the sd card, but when you push the zip by adb sideload method, the CWM doesn't have to mount sd card and that's why it works.
Try it. It worked for me. :fingers-crossed:
Perfectly working bro. just replaced the recovery to the latest twrp 2.7.0

Koop's One-Hour Guide To Update Your Phone

I wanted to update my phone from Software version/Baseband version PF4 to the latest Software and Baseband version PG1, but I wanted to KEEP EVERYTHING ELSE. All my apps, my ROM and my Kernel. I was able to do this in less than one hour by following these steps.
Necessary files first:
1) ODIN file. You want to have a folder with the Odin .exe and other files somewhere convenient, your desktop is fine.
2) Latest TAR file available. Currently, that is PF4. The file should end in .md5.
3) Latest CF-Auto-Root. The file should end in .md5.
4) Latest Recovery (TWRP) TAR file. The file should end in .tar.
All of these are available from thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...uide-links-files-update-root-restore-t3366862
All Put the PF4, the CF-Auto-Root and the TWRP file in the folder where Odin is.
For convenience, I also recommend installing Minimal ADB. Grab that here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
Install the Minimal ADB. Run that and make sure that it sees your phone. Plug your phone in and type "ADB devices." Look at your phone and accept the security prompt if that comes up.
Once you have Minimal ADB installed the commands that you will use are "ADB Reboot Download" and "ADB Reboot Recovery." These just simplify things.
Is your phone Rooted with TWRP Recovery? Great, we can get started! If not, open ODIN. Flash CF-Auto-Root to get your phone rooted. Then flash the TWRP TAR file. And then you are ready to begin.
Make sure that you have Developer options selected and OEM unlock selected. Really. Make sure. Otherwise you will get the FRP lock.
1) From ADB, type "ADB Reboot Recovery." This should take you to TWRP. If it doesn't read up ^^^^ because you missed a step.
2) In TWRP, go to Backup. This should be the default but if not select Boot, System and Data. Make that backup, which will get stored in TWRP/Backups on your phone. Within that folder, you will see a folder with a long name with lots of numbers and letters that identifies that this backup is for your phone. I generally copy the whole Backup folder to my PC, just in case my phone gets totally wiped I can still restore it. It takes a few minutes and better safe than sorry. Backup done, you can go to the next step.
3) In ADB, type the command to put your file into Download mode. ("ADB reboot download.") Start ODIN. Click on the AP button and select the PF4 file. Let it load, it takes a while. Then click start. This will take few minutes, maybe 10, then your phone will restart back to stock. Again you are going to have to wait for a bit.
4) Let your phone finish rebooting. Once done, you can go to Settings -> System Update -> Download updates manually. You should have an update to PG1 available. Install that and again, your phone will reboot. Once that is done, check your Software version/Baseband version and they should both say PG1.
5) Again, use ADB to send your phone back to download mode and back to Odin. Select the CF-Auto-Root and Start. This should go much faster.
6) Back to Download mode and Odin one last time. Select the TWRP file and start.
7) In ADB, type "ADB reboot recovery".If you have done everything right, you should now be in TWRP.
8) I like to get rid of any bloat that may have been installed with the Stock. I go into Wipe and do both a Factory reset and then in Advanced wipe Caches, System and Data. Then go back to the TWRP main screen WITHOUT REBOOTING.
9) Click Restore and restore the backup that you did at the beginning.
Your phone is now updated to the latest Software and Baseband versions but with all your apps and data as it was before you started.
This literally took me 45 minutes today and that only because of the long rebooting times.
Have fun!
So I always have a space issue with this. I don't have enough free space on my device to hold a backup.
Do you know if there's any way to backup to an external/usb device. I have one of the micro USB to female USB adapters...and I can see the USB drive connected while in the phone, but I don't see an option to use that as a backup destination from TWRP.
Is there a way to backup off the device?

I thought I tried that. Ill try again.
Going off the top of my head, if I remember right, it said that the external drive was non-writable.
Is there a specific partition type the USB drive had to be (fat32, ext4, etc) or is there a specific process that I need to follow to mount the drive in TWRP?

Alright. I tried again this morning. The problem is, when I go into mount the USB in TWRP, it does nothing. I can't check it off. I've tried with 2 different USB sticks and I cant get it to work. When the phone is booted to system, I can see the USB, read/write without any problems.

I just tested and OTG seems to be working fine for me.
I went into TWRP, selected Mount, selected USB Storage. Tapped on Select Storage (same screen) and selected USB Storage. (Did you miss this last step?)
I don't know what to tell you beyond the old "It works on my computer/phone."
Are you sure that you are using the right version of TWRP? From here: https://dl.twrp.me/zerofltespr/

I have the right version of TWRP. It might be my otg cable. It's one of the cheap ones. I think I got a 3 pack for something like $0.99.
I was able to use the cable from within the phone and do a full Titanium backup. It's not going to be 100% like your method, but at least my apps and data will be preserved (for the most part). I probably have enough space to do the backup of system and boot, then just restore the apps with data.
Thanks for your help!
