When you connect HTC one X to the PC you should get an interface, with the title choose connection type. I am not sure which is required for rooting. If this interface does not appear go to settings, connect to pc and then click default connection type
Also if you want it to ask you each time you connect to the computer, tick the "Ask Me" box below

oke a couple of questions, sins im getting the GN this Saturday.
i know that USB OTG is disabled by default unless you get a kernel that turns on the option.
but is the USB OTG also working with USB flash drives and external HHD's(when unlocked/turned on) if so, whats the best kernel/mod i should use. and i dont care if i need to command mount it in the terminal app.
second question,
there was a report on ICS that ICS will have build in screenshot buton combo or some sort.
is it really there? does it work by default,or is it yet another kenrel option?
and does any one have an example screenshot?
nobody?isnt there anyone that can answer it

USB OTG will be enabled with an update, this has been confirmed on g+ by a googler. In the meantime I use the latest MCR rom from modaco.com and USB OTG works fine

This is probably less about USB OTG host mode as a feature and more about how ICS handles auto-mounting storage attached to it hence the "host mode experience" isn't 100% yet, even though host mode and HID work fine with the right kernel.
Whenever I connect my device to PC in download mode, I get a notification from my PC "Your USB device is malfunctioned, it may not work properly, please try again later" something like that.
Odin is unable to detect my device, what should I do?

Have you enabled "USB Debugging" in CM11 settings?
What about your Windows drivers? my device manager shows:
- "SAMSUNG USB Composite Device"

May u use adb commands while phone is started and connected?
Try also installing ADB/fastboot drivers again please. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
If you're not sure if your drivers have been uninstalled correctly, you can follow these steps:

My phone don't show me the USB Connected/Charging notification anymore.
So I can't change it to MTP mode. It just charge when conneted to the PC USB port.
Googling around I've found thousands of tips like this:
MTP mode can be enabled/disabled in Settings > Storage > (overflow menu or 3 dots right top of the screen) > USB computer connection> tick the MTP
Click to collapse
Bu I can't find these 3 dots ....

}
This may be something I've done because I was able to connect it as MTP before.
I just rooted it with Kingroot and deleted some unwanted apps (most by google).
How can I put these dots back?

It should pop up auto when you plug usb into pc, Rite in your notifications bar I had this issue on my G4 after debloating I could not get but charge only no MTP You may have debloated something needed. I also had this issue with my G3 and it was something to do with the pc install software but I cant quite remember how I did it if I cleared defaults...
Last resort is alway back up on Ext sd And retry stock firmware.... Kingroot is ok But IMO I never use it unless a last resort if you can root with stump or root.bats I recommend them first as they are normally pretty stable... Kingo and king have posed issues in the past or at least they have for me
If it's not coming up try going to developer options and selecting USB Configuration.
Also try toggling USB Debugging
Sorry all.
For some reason my cable was not data transfer capable.
Change cable solved the problem.
mea culpa!
Cant understand why but I cant see my Pixel 6 any more on my PC. I but the phone in File Transfer it charges but just wont see it on the PC. Help would be greatful.

It might not say the same thing if you don't have this set as the default USB option, which you can find and change if necessary if you use the search field at the top of the Android Settings for USB. It's the last option in this screenshot "USB Preferences":

USB Preferences look like this (when you're connected to the PC). What I have selected isn't the default - I had already changed mine:

Lastly, if necessary, have you tried rebooting the phone? Tried rebooting the PC? Tried a different USB port and USB cable?

It's the driver. There are a few fixes out there but they are at least a couple of years old. But I believe they still work even though they were for Windows 10. If I recall it was a device manager thing and you needed to install a driver from the system or a delete the driver that is causing the issue and reinstall it. Here's an old thread but you can search for Win 10 Pixel and come up with a bunch of possible solutions. Good luck let us know if you can fix it and how or if you still need help.
[GUIDE] Fix MTP driver installation on Windows 10
Hi guys and girls... I just recieved my new phone a few days ago. Plugged it into an old Windows 7 x64 laptop and Windows instantly updated the driver. On a 2016 Dell E7450 Windows 10 x64 laptop... It didn't. Tried the Google USB drver package...

Few days ago while I was using my phone touchscreen suddenly stopped responding. Not whole touchscreen, approximately 15% is still working. Problem is I cant enter my phone and I was on airplane mode when it happened so I am unable to use samsung find my phone to enter it. Is there any way I can enter the phone without erasing my data, or just download photos and music I have on it? Usb debugging is not turned on.
use mouse or keyboard and enable adb over wifi. then use scrcpy.

Yes but me using mouse (according to the links you sent me) requires me allowing usb debugging on my phone which i can't do because I cant enter it..
no, using mouse or keyboard does not require usb-debugging (or any touch input) at all. it is connected via usb.
However, you can use mouse or keyboard to enable usb-debugging (aka adb) and run scrcpy over adb over wifi, then finally connect usb cable to PC for file copying.
