Where are the "Three dots" to change USB mode? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My phone don't show me the USB Connected/Charging notification anymore.
So I can't change it to MTP mode. It just charge when conneted to the PC USB port.
Googling around I've found thousands of tips like this:
MTP mode can be enabled/disabled in Settings > Storage > (overflow menu or 3 dots right top of the screen) > USB computer connection> tick the MTP
Click to collapse
Bu I can't find these 3 dots ....

This may be something I've done because I was able to connect it as MTP before.
I just rooted it with Kingroot and deleted some unwanted apps (most by google).
How can I put these dots back?

It should pop up auto when you plug usb into pc, Rite in your notifications bar I had this issue on my G4 after debloating I could not get but charge only no MTP You may have debloated something needed. I also had this issue with my G3 and it was something to do with the pc install software but I cant quite remember how I did it if I cleared defaults...
Last resort is alway back up on Ext sd And retry stock firmware.... Kingroot is ok But IMO I never use it unless a last resort if you can root with stump or root.bats I recommend them first as they are normally pretty stable... Kingo and king have posed issues in the past or at least they have for me

If it's not coming up try going to developer options and selecting USB Configuration.
Also try toggling USB Debugging

Sorry all.
For some reason my cable was not data transfer capable.
Change cable solved the problem.
mea culpa!

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S III USB Lockout

My AT&T Samsung Galaxy S III suddenly no longer works with usb. It can charge with the connection, but it does not show up as any kind of device. No MTP, no PTP, no usb debugging, no anything!
I tried:
- Factory resetting
- Plugging it into a different computer
- Switching to a different ROM
- I even tried to restore to stock firmware, but Odin couldn't see it.
No computer can notice my phone. It doesn't even notify me that it is unrecognized. The usb on my phone is locked out from any connection other than charging.
I use the phone for Android development and I use Eclipse ADT to compile my apps.
Is there any other solution I haven't tried?

Used the cable that came with my phone on different USB ports. Didn't work.

Already had the drivers installed. Reinstalled, rebooted, still doesn't work.
Here are a couple of other things to check. This menu can be achieved by using dialer code *#7284# on a Tw based rom.

This was Windows 8 and solved by:
Uninstalling the Samsung Drivers
Running CCleaner
Rebooting
Hooking up the phone in each connection type: D/L Mode, MTP, and Debugging
Windows Update loaded the drivers properly

Don't forget pulling out the battery from my phone and going into download mode without the battery. Thanks a lot for your help!
The true fix for this annoying issue is to reboot the phone into download mode. Then hold the power and home buttons down for a few seconds to force a power down. When the phone is off, power it back on like normal, and you can then connect to usb again. This is a pain but it works EVERYTIME, guaranteed.

S20 Ultra will not connect to my W10 PC anymore.

I used to be able to connect my S20 Ultra to my W10 PC via USB-USBC cable. Now when I connect it, it will just charge the phone. There is no access to my folders on the phone. I have tried linking my phone with W10 and it only gives you limited access to photos no videos or documents. I have even installed Syncios data transfer on my PC and it will not connect to my phone. What the heck happened?
Change the USB mode in Developer Options to file transfer
I only have 3 items in developer options. And file transfer isn't one of them. And I cannot post a screenshot until I reach 10 post.
1. Log output level debug.
2. Show TTS output.
3. Node tree debugging.

You access Developer Options by going to Settings > About Phone > Software Information > Tap on "Build Number" a few times until it asks for your PIN or other security, enter your credentials, it should say "You are now a developer", now back out into the main Settings screen again > Scroll to the bottom > Developer Options should now be showing
Okay,
I have the developer options now enabled and have selected transferring files / Android Auto. And my PC is still not seeing my phone. I have tried 2 desktop PC's W10 and a Windows 7 and a W10 laptop and nothing. Whats really frustrating to me is, it just worked before. I would plug in the cable it would connect I would transfer my files boom it was done. I've never had to go into any options and set up my phone it just worked. I've never been into my settings and shut off or disabled anything. So either an update to the phone has screwed this up, I have no idea. I just bought a brand new USB 3.0 to USB-C cable as well.....
I just rebooted my phone it's working now. Still frustrating as hell. Thank you for your help *Detection*

Yep, still a good few bugs that need fixing in the Ultra firmware, yesterday I lost WiFi calling until I rebooted, which resulted in it reappearing and a brand new option that was never there arriving too, hopefully a couple more updates should iron it all out, to be expected with a brand new device really
No problem :good:

Huawei P20 FRP Lock Removal

Hello XDA,
Hoping someone here can help me. Not sure if it was relevant, but something must be but I was installing an APP on my P20 that helps to verify you to access Canada Gov't websites. Yada yada and now my phone has a password on it. At some point I was given Google Codes, but those do not unlock my phone now. I tried updating the phone from wifi and safe mode however it still comes up with the password screen below. The SIM card is now in my new phone (S20 - done with Huawei) and the old phone is in Airplane mode. When I drag up from the bottom you can see that menu at the bottom that mentions "Enable Magazine unlock" but doesn't do anything except calculator and flashlight.
Yes I can access recovery menu and the option to Factory Reset is certainly there and I know how to use it. The thing is I have over 3000 photos (most of them of our Cats) on there and I cannot and will not lose them. Been hacking this thing for a few days now and even though the P20 does not have an SD CARD slot, I was able to insert a USB stick in the USB-C slot with a bunch of useful hack .APKs but I cannot seem to be able to use them. In the EMUI menu I can select Update from USB but it just hangs at 5%.
I don't mind any kind of solution but it has to keep my data. Would installing Cyanogenmod delete my data? Anyone encountered this before? Also - obviously my phone has not been rooted and trying to connect to the PC via USB does recognize the phone, but Visual Studio, the Huawei software and ADB and everything else does not recognize it enough to communicate with it, perhaps because of the password.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you try to make a backup onto your pc or does it not see the device? I know there’s Back up Option under recovery mode at more than one place but not so sure if it would include all of your data.
The only way to disable a password on a huawei is thro factory-reset along with the password setup proses.
You said something about google codes. Can’t it by chance be from your find my phone, that the device is secured from find my phone platform

Question USB tethering

Any way to disable Samsung's 'cable detection' feature? USB tethering doesn't work because device doesn't recognize cable. I'm using original one and tried new and older cables also. I've had similar problems with another Samsung devices before and it's pretty annoying. WIFI is too slow and bluetooth even slower compared to USB so I don't like using them. Device just keeps telling use original cable and starts charging slowly.
Also the usb c port is cleaned, tried restarting device several times, tried all usb ports of my pc. I'm using Windows 10 pro. All drivers are updated and I have newest Samsung drivers.
Turn on Developer options and try setting it up there. No blocked or disabled Samsung system apps, right?

Tried that but it doesn't work. Also Windows is saying it can't recognize usb-device. I have disabled YouTube only because I use another app for that.

Hit take no action in the Windows connect popup*. Then go to Disk Management and punch scan for new devices. Access the drive in that window and do the transfers there. Command line can also be used to access Disk Management etc.
Try rolling back or updating the driver. Installing the latest version of SmartSwitch on Windows should load the correct driver.
*you must authorize the connection first on the Android via a popup window that should appear after being connected.
Not working. Reinstalled all usb drivers including Samsung ones. Smartswitch is not working because Windows can't recognize this device at all. Maybe I just reinstall Windows some day and try if it works then. Thanks for the help.

You're welcome.
Try another port and cable.
Reboot, always reboot Windows.
Check Event Viewer for error messages.
For Windows to recognize the device you sometimes need to use the scan for new devices command in Disk Management. The solution is likely simple and right in front of you.
Play with it... fun times.

Touchscreen is not working on my Samsung galaxy s20 phone and I want to retrieve the data which havent been backed up

Few days ago while I was using my phone touchscreen suddenly stopped responding. Not whole touchscreen, approximately 15% is still working. Problem is I cant enter my phone and I was on airplane mode when it happened so I am unable to use samsung find my phone to enter it. Is there any way I can enter the phone without erasing my data, or just download photos and music I have on it? Usb debugging is not turned on.
use mouse or keyboard and enable adb over wifi. then use scrcpy.

How do I enable adb? And also, will this require turning on usb debugging on my phone?

Yes but me using mouse (according to the links you sent me) requires me allowing usb debugging on my phone which i can't do because I cant enter it..
no, using mouse or keyboard does not require usb-debugging (or any touch input) at all. it is connected via usb.
However, you can use mouse or keyboard to enable usb-debugging (aka adb) and run scrcpy over adb over wifi, then finally connect usb cable to PC for file copying.
