[Q] Difference between P6 and Mate?

This forum topic is dedicated to the P6 and Mate, so obviously they have to be somehow "compatible", otherwise it wouldn't be a shared topic.
In what way are they similar (I can also read the tech specs, so that's not what I mean)? I'm actually referring to the pending 4.4.2 release for the P6, while nobody mentions the same upgrade for the Mate. Is anything like that coming? Is the release of the P6 4.4.2 a lead-in to the same release for the Mate?
I'm also a bit confused on the developer section of this forum. Again, in the Mate topic, almost everything deals with the P6.
Anyone care to explain to a Huawei Mate owner who desperately needs >= 4.3 to do some experimenting with BLE?

Basically, all you have is the Mate Development section.
There is however some shared projects since the hardware is so alike, like Cyanogenmod.
At the moment, no 4.3 for Mate nor P6.
We wouldn't know if you guys are getting kitkat since the Chinese are a bit puzzling when it comes to dates or manuals.
But I am sure once we got official kitkat for P6, someone could port it over. I am pretty sure I'll be able to, problem is I don't have a device nor the confidence to ask someone else to test my untested work.

Thx PulseDroid, partly answers my question.
I was referring to this thread: 4.4.2 KitKat beta for P6.
So basically, it seems P6 is getting straight into 4.4 (skipping 4.3). And hence my question was: if P6 and Mate are so alike, when and if at all, can we expect this for the Mate?
I am not necessarily in need of a custom ROM (although I have installed several ones in my Xperia Neo days), I just want the BLE integrated into the Mate to work (which it can not until 4.3).

We don't know. - Most likely but there is no evidence for us to be certain.
Yes the P6 is skipping 4.3. - Most devices did this, a lot of the more well known manufactures also did this.
So, we don't know when / if you will get 4.4.x for the Mate. - But even if not, Developers here on XDA might be able to port it over to the Mate.

Mate will most likely get it. I remember reading that there were a couple of phones besides P6, that was promised to get update to Emui2.0 (assuming that they bring Android 4.4 with Emui2.0, and not just emui2.0), and i remember the P2 and A199 included among it. Im not sure Mate was named but it most likely would be part of the batch to get update. Yet note that since P6 is Huawei's "flagship", the P6 gets updates sooner. And since the specs are nearly same then i guess they are first waiting to get a stable release on P6 and then move it to other phones like Mate, Honor 3, D2, that all use similar chip.

Hi, HAM devs!
You propably don't know me yet, as i am new to the HAM. I already built CM7, 10 and 11 on LG devices though, so i am not totally new to android development/building.
Well.. i just got this Ascend Mate, and thought it would be nice to have a custom rom on it, like i had on other devices.
But all i can find is closed source flashables. Seems like joe.stone is the only one who shared atleast something.
Don't you guys think we could achieve more, if we work together?
I really want to work on custom stuff for our HAM, but it would be easier if i don't have to start from scratch, while a bunch of people COULD share their experiences with me.
So please contact me, if you can provide some useful informations on how to build for the HAM. - Let's do something!

I think the main reason for that is that most of the stuff here was developed in Russia or China and those of us here just basically searched online and found ROMs and posted links here.
Joe Stone was the main Dev here and he's moved on. Gold Concert did some good work here too and moved on. Outside of these guys I think the rest of people in the group are like me. We know a little about developing but we're not Devs so as a result the forum has pretty much died.

yeah, i kinda figured that out already, my first post was a little bit fast maybe.
well, let's see what i can do... so far i can boot, but sound and reboots arent working well (maybe more).
currently trying to contact mrAlmid, and looking into his roms for a hint to the right direction.

Just a thought. Since huawei mate and huawei p6 are essentially same hardware (same motherboard, same cpu/gpu) with main difference in display, maybe some of the sources for p6 will come in handy?

Once a Finnish developer tried porting sailfish to the P6, he (or someone he forked from) had managed to collect almost all the sources for the P6. You can try tinkering around, if you have time, you could figure out how to build the needed libraries for the graphics stack from source (all the other devs jumped the boat already), if you succeed then we may have a chance of compiling a working Lollipop rom. For the mate, dont forget to change the touchscreen drivers as it differs on the P6 and the Mate. Heres the repo: https://github.com/locusf/cm11-p6

a working lollipop rom? i dont feel like beeing THAT professional, to be honest. but i will check if i can use something for more stability on kk. thanks for the information, though! maybe i can find something to fix "reboot to recovery"-freeze

I got my current rom (carbon rom 4.4.4) from this website:

Would welcome some more development, especially bluetooth connecting to audio is horrible...

yeah, that's Alex Midnight (mrAlmid), i used some huawei binaries off his roms already.
i will see what i can do about bluetooth a2dp, dont have to much hope though, that a2dp stuff was a hell on LG's p990 already.

I am assuming you are speaking about devices that will support official nightlies? As of right now the rumors are all devices that supported cm13/14...but that is rumors...I am personally waiting to find out what LinOS got to say.

Miui 10 port for the Nexus 5X?

Hi,
i searched but couldn't find an actual muiu ROM for the Nexus 5X. It is possible to port miui 9 or 10 to the 5X or will this not work? I thought that maybe the hardware would be a problem.

Just why?????
Buy an Huawei it's cheaper.
I hate this software like the developpers so there will be no build though it's possible to do.
Really aosp is far better and if you want the overlay just apply a theme from substratum.

Didn't know that huwai phones can be flashed with miui. I try the substratum thing for now.

Yeah sorry I have so little interest for miui/emiui that I said sth wrong, anyway it's not in my habits to not help people in xda but when it comes to this kind of question I become a lion haha.
More seriously I'm pretty sure that nobody will port miui/emiui (that are same for me ahha) so your only chance is to buy these chinese devices.
If you tell me why you would want this kind of rom on your device I can guide you to flash themes or how to add the features you would like but I suggest you to flash a good aosp ROM or lineage and then just apply a theme.
Again, sorry for being agressive with this request but my brother have an huawei and I folllowed the development of it on xda and telegram and really these chinese devices are **** for open source...(even if it's seems that xiaomi is not so bad contrary to huawei ).

Kernel is complete just we have to wait for devlopers to get the device and we will see roms in December I guess:fingers-crossed:

HOW do you know that? Everyone seems to share all kinds of news about this device like they work for Mediatek but there is never any proof of what they say... STOP spreading misinformation!!!!

I've searched far and wide for the same and i didn't find any ROM for any phone with a Mediatek chipset.

Lol, I am in the devlopment team it's juat that we need some solution foe that authorised account sh*t, So we are not much focusing on roms ???

Care to share which ROM you're in the dev team of? I'm sorry but the one thing being a member of XDA for close to 8 years had taught me is that some people like to lie about being a developer. It's such an inconvenience to other members that want to experience something positive.

Yeah i can share check official redmi note 8 pro telegram we just need testers but they are hard to get coz of that authorised account:crying:
