Failed to update to .101 through Bridge for Mac - Sony Xperia ZL

I have flashed ~ 2 months ago .569 (4.3) ftf but i didn't root.
I have a notification for new firmware .101 but it failed to update over the air nor in Sony Bridge software on my Mac.
Here is the message error i get: "(reason: UE communication failed (code 2003, text: The phone contains modified software that cannot be updated.))"
I have previously rooted this phone on 4.1.2 and 4.2 but now i flashed .569 firmware and "reverted" to stock status as far as sony is concerned...
maybe I'm missing something here (being a noob) and somebody could take a minute to enlighten me
Thanks

[Q] Attempting to return to stock LT18i-PC Companion issu

Hey guys,
I've been playing around with my LT18i for a little and rooted on 4.1.A.0.562 before the 4.1.B.0.431 update came out.
I then updated through PC COMPANION and it removed root. I was having some issues with the phone so did a factory reset and attempted a repair though PC COMPANION. The repair was downloaded but i received an error "unable to install or start software components"
I decided to attempt to root and used the steps mentioned here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1683957
I used the Greek 4.0.4 ftf file and the arc s kernel and had success but had issues with recieveing MMS as well as facebook inside xperia.
Ultimately i would like to go back to stock via PC COMPANION to get the files i need and flash again using this method and would appreciate it if anyone had some advice on getting me back to super stock.
Current system (Just flashed back to an old stock ftf that i had when i messed up previously)
Android: 4.0.3
Baseband: 8x55A-AAABQOAZM-203028G-70
Kernel: 2.6.32.9-perf [email protected] #1
Build Number: 4.1.A.0.562
Would really appreciate some help!!
Thanks.

Update via SEUS if you are on stock kernel and firmware. Otherwise, you have to flash .ftf file via Flashtool...
You should modify your build.prop by changing the 8 digit code (XXXX-XXXX) with the one you find on the box or under the battery, so that PC Companion finds the update for the original configuration on your phone

Rogers 4.3 ota upgrade fail

I was on 4.2.2 rooted 6506 and tried to do the rogers 4.3 upgrade through ota and it downloaded the file rebooted and began to install and then failed. Any others having this problem. If so did u resolve and how? I want to use the ota method because supposedly it preserves root.

Are you kidding me, are you saying that Rogers released through OTA their modified C6506 4.3 firmware before Sony even pushed out the generic 4.3 via PC Companion for the C6506 model.
THIS REALLY BLOWS MY MIND....having a little trouble believing it

Wow, impressive. Carriers are usually slow to release updates. I'm still going to wait for the generic 4.3 update from Sony. I really don't like the bloat-ware Rogers installs. I believe root will be able to be obtained with Nut's DualRecovery method just like the tablet Xperia Z.
Your way to preserve root is a 50/50 chance. It worked on previous firmwares but since your system files have been modified, it may be the reason why the update gets interrupted.
To root the tablet Xperia Z from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2 was via OTA just like you are trying to do (survival mode) but I don't think it works anymore on 4.3
Good Luck!!
Survival mode in SuperSU worked for me when going to 4.4.2 from 4.4 stock on my N7.
Not sure about 4.3.
I am now on a rooted generic US rom and on a Rogers ZL and I'm still waiting. Hard to believe Rogers released anything at all...
Lets see pics!

Here is the screenshot, tried again no luck stops install after download. I download the file, the phone reboots, I see the green android with a file status bar for about 20 second and it reboots and tells me upgrade was unsuccessful

There is an option if you unlock superSU pro (you can unlock the app from the playstore for free). You tick it and system tries to preserve root after an OTA update. Didn't worked for everyone but oh well, Nexus 7 is so easy to root anyway! ?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
Sony Canada just posted up on FB that they have 4.3 on PCC.
I tried it with my ZL c6505 but no update popped up.
I just checked on PCC and it is still telling me I have the latest firmware. I'll keep checking throughout the day.
Fingers crossed!
I got my 4.3 last night and it came through the air without PCC
Wow shocking for rogers. They usually suck I'm in rogers and I hate them but good to see updates.coming.fast for once

Has anyone been able to update a Rogers ZL to 4.3 and either keep root, or get root
(with the NOT-unlockable boot loader).
I have been seeing the OTA alert for a week now, but I don't want ot risk loosing Titanium and Xpose Framwork.
Thanks,
C
How can I get back on Stock Rogers 4.2.2? where could I find this FTF I want to get off this generic 4.3 and update it the proper route

Sent phone to Sony repair and now it won't update

I have a ZL C6506 and it's battery went out. So I sent the phone to Sony for repair. They replaced the battery and flashed the phone with an older software 4.2.2 version 10.31.A.0.244.
Now the problem is that when I go to "Update center" and search for updates, it says the phone is up to date. I know that's not true since my phone had been running 4.3 before dying.
I can't understand why my phone won't update. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can force my phone to update? I tried through PC Companion but no dice. It says the phone is up to date too.
Please help!

Can you post your build.prop in /system/ ? Not sure if its possible without root. With adb it is simple, just use adb pull /system/build.prop.
Download any stock firmware in .ftf format from the forums and use flashtool (http://www.flashtool.net/download.php) to flash it to your phone.
Flashtool doesn't care if your device is up to date or not. It just writes the content of .ftf files to the right partitions on the device. :good:
If you want to check if repair service destroyed your Xperia, do not flash the newest stock firmware. Download an older one. After flashing the older firmware,
try to update via PC Companion. It should work now. If not, send it back to Sony and tell them they bricked your device.
May be they replaced your handset with a prototype
I also faced this similar issue. I bought a second ZL (c6506) last week that came with 4.2.2 (10.3.1.A.2.67) and I don't see any update on PC companion or SEUS. It looks like 4.3 update has been pulled for some reason here in the US.
I'll post my build.prop later this evening.
Ended up using flashtool with a FTF to update to 4.3. It erased all my data but oh well, I redownloaded everything and now I have 4.3. I just hope I'll be able to update to 4.4 OTA or through PCC when it comes out.

Cannot update to V10j firmware via OTA

My E975 is rooted (not boot unlocked), I can download this update and the device restarts, then after a short time an error message comes up, the device restarts and loads as normal, then a message pops up that states root suspected, so cannot update
This appears to be a protective mechanism against rooting, so updates are only available for unrooted devices
Now, the solution seems simple, I unroot, update and then root again, however, I suspect it's not this simple
Can someone please advise if there is a workaround or would the simple option work?
As I don't want to lose root
Thank you
This solution has been suggested - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2625044
Which seems like much work for a small update
Is there any other method?
Current Software Version: Stock JB 4.1.2 (E97510h-EUR-XX)
I've unrooted and made sure there is no trace left, have restarted the device, then downloaded the V10J update via OTA, ran the update process, got to the update screen and at 3% progress get error 0x13E, device restarts and there is another error message that states:
- Software update, problem with installation
Have tried to update OTA 3 times and the issue is the same each time, I wonder if this is the same issue as last year on the AT&T version:
- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2084211&page=2
Also on other versions too:
- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2289930
If anyone can help or hopefully explain what the error 0x13E is cause by/relates to?
Please reply here and it will be much appreciated :good:
Current Software Version: Stock JB 4.1.2 (E97510j-EUR-XX)
Gave up on OTA, soft bricked my device shortly after and used the KDZ Updater method from the FAQ (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2434917), which updated my device, so I'm going to leave it there for now
Also, if anyone is wondering (like I was), yes, stock JB 4.1.2 (E97510j-EUR-XX) can be rooted via Framaroot, using the gandalf exploit and I had no related issues
Thank you :good:

[Q] Problem to Update to Android 4.4.4 (14.4.A.0.108) on rooted phone

Hi,
PC companion doesn't want to update my rooted Z1 compact.
After PC software preparation and after I accept the "information" my connected phone powers off (step which I think is normal) and then I get the following message:
"The phone contains modified software that cannot be updated"
"Sony update Engine failure (error 2003)"
Can someone help ?
Bought my phone in March, works well, runs 4.4.2 and was rooted.
Tks in advance
Eric

flash ftf using flash tool.then root again.remember to untick data wipe if you want to keep data
ftf?
Hi Lasantha,
Tks for your reply.
It looks quite easy but could you please be more explicit. This would help greatly. I'm a idealist rooted (I think we should be able to do what we want with our phone) not I don't have a lot of tweaking knowledge.
1 flash ftf using flash tool (what is ftf ? and which flash tool would you use?)
2 then root again (was thinking to root again with towelroot
3 remember to untick data wipe if you want to keep data (where should I untick this ?)
Many tks in advance
Just use the SEUS update, via computer. Not PC Companion, but SEUS. It worked for me...
