Have you thought of trying XM's lastest sense kernel? I can guarantee you that you won't regret your decision It's standby time is very high!
I was able to get 32+hr of standby time with 2hr of screen on time

[Q]Noob questions about Kernels

Hello everyone,
I am thinking to flash Viper Rom for my HOX. When i was reading the topic i noticed this part:
Team Venom Flasher V1.0
HTC Stock Kernel 2.05.401.2
Bricked Kernel v0.3 Sweep to Wake
Franco Kernel r12
Faux Kernel 004 Beta 1
Kholk Kernel v0.92b
So there is a more then 1 kernel. I want to know that if we can use multiple kernels at the same time or i'll have to choose one of them?
Thanks for answers

you have to choose one of them mate..no way you can use multiple ones...even though that sounds quite awesome unfortunately it will not work..and one i would recommend is stick with the HTC stock kernel...best one and reliable so far
Well thank you so much. As you said it would be awesome. I would really like to use swaype2wake kernel at the same time
So Stock Kernel it's is.

The stock kernel has no S2W support. If you want stock kernel WITH S2W you have to flash the Alex-V kernel. Other custom kernels also have this feature but they are more developed to serve its purpose !

What KERNEL do you recommend ?

and if i install a kernel now it's OK ?? or I should flash it after I install the ROM !
You can it install it whenever you want
I recommend the stock kernel because of it's battery life

i charge it twice a day..so what can be " badder" that this ? )
stock or ncx.
after install ncx my quadrant score fall like for 1000 points...now I have 4200 and before with the venom stock kernel waas 5200..
ncx kernel is for what ?

i wouldn't recommend ncx kernel, that gave problems to some users here... such as non rotating phone, g sensor gone (fixable)

imo the stock one is the best... good battery life, good perfomances... it depends on you....try them all
faux is ok?
I've had a great experience with faux. Battery life and performance are both excellent.

completely agree
i've installed the faux now.the menu for apps it like .......very smooth ..
and the quadrant SCORE is 6000 ..
-----
but in kernel version is no word " faux " is written something like 2639.4 [email protected] #491
how do I know if i installed the KERNEL good ?
---
Sorry for this questions but .. I had a Sony xperia S and I'm a flashing MANIAC, because I change my roms like 10 times a day sometimes (at least 2 times) and try dif kernels..but for example the with the sony xperia S I only had to to the fastboot flash boot boot.img, at faux it says after the kernel flash that I have to install a custom.zip file...so I flashed that one to..but I don't know if I installed ok the rom . THX very much for you help guys.

That might be the problem to your bad batt life, the kernel has to "adapt" it will be better after a couple of charge cycle. It's not instantly the best batt life you will get. If you try multiple kernels a day it will not improve like that. Run a kernel and a rom for a week and you should notice a difference ! (I wrote this because i saw another post that you are a flashing maniac )
And yes kernel is flashed oke. Paul is the name and faux the kernel. I also answered your question in the faux thread

Hellboy kernel is perfectly safe, if you are using the latest version of paranoid, it's not the kernel fault, that Rom has bugs, and won't be fixed because the dev sold his phone. You can try Sphongle rom with the same kernel, or any other rom you like. The needed kernel is always mentioned in the first post!

wrong place ! such things should be asked in Q&A therefore there is that place...and to see which kernel is best you should look and try yourself...as for sense 5 only stock, tripNdroid and Alex-V kernel are working you only could try to flash alex...trips is also good but too much performance with less battery life...so try alex-v and see if it helps...and for aosp/cm try yourself there are neo, xm kernel...try them...next time look for the kernel and try yourself and post such thigns like questions in the right section!!

One X master, do you think that after htc releases kernel source code, we will see more sense 5 kernels around ? I should buy HOX in next few days, and i readed, readed so much, since alex discontinued his kernel, i wonder about new kernel with s2w, dt2w and some other cool features. So, what's your opinion ?

xmister still has hox and most probably wait for the kernel source so he can do his magic.

Custom kernel on AICP 4.4.2

I'm currently running AICP 4.4.2 and I wish to know which kernel is better for this rom in terms of performance and battery?
there is no best kernel: the best one is the one you prefer... flash some diferent ones, repack them if needed, test them and choose the one which will fit your needs... that will be best kernel.
