Hello guys
this question is for developers so i want to try to port Ubuntu Touch for Samsung Galaxy W, i have a few questions:
1-when i type brunch ancora as command line appear to me the following errors:
Don't have a product spec for: 'cm_ancora'.
Do you have the right repo manifest.
It say that i should add manually in local_manifest/roomservice.xml but there are no file like this one into my folder and i try to show hidden file but i can't found anything, so where the mistake?
2-When i try to download frameworks like av and native this one is refuse my connection, is it possible to port on our phone?thanks

also are you using cm10.1 ion kernel, vendor and device repos? arent you? because those repos are more updated
-https://github.com/arco/samsung-kernel-msm7x30/tree/cm-10.1_ion
-https://github.com/arco/android_device_samsung_ancora/tree/cm-10.1_ion
-https://github.com/arco/android_vendor_samsung_ancora/tree/cm-10.1_ion
and last one you can contact with some ubuntu devs on xda for compile errors
for example mrs. MaxWallstedt(he ported ubuntu touch to s2) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2188621
good luck and good work mate :good:
Hi guys,
I've successfully build an image but it's not bootable, so I'll try it again with newer repos and give you report.
But if someone would try it self, then I created in my repos branch "ubuntu-phone" so fork me or ask me to add you to contribution.
For better, faster communication use google+ or skype:
skype: krotovicl

Tell me about your builds

Wow it sounds good and thanx again mate for your effort
And also yeah you can use new ion repos(those are more updated) and you must make some change on board ancora in kernel like that https://github.com/czobor/phablet_kernel_samsung_msm7x30-common/commit/9e33c7bbca66333c3802818e47f105d0d2f87e12 (galaxy s plus and galaxy w are very similar devices 7x30/8x55 devices)
Wow
Nice work
Well I tried to switch repos to newer _ion branch, but getting an error while compiling. I think that some kernel files are missing.
So I don't have any clue why it won't boot up
If anyone have any idea, post it there or send me message through email, skype or google+.

Firstly we must fix compile errors and then lets see it will boot or not so can you collect all compile errors and paste it to pastebin. Also did you try some spesific changes on board ancora file in kernel(i wrote in my previous post)

try post up what error during compilation..
normally kernel did not boot up because different ramdisk.. means you need to change necessary thing in ramdisk to make it boot.

yea.. it seem you repo not complete.. try sync the repo again.
Edit: but for your information.. this is not kernel files.. if i not mistake or in my short knowledge.. kernel and ROM did not built at the same time.. sorry if i mistake.
Updated
Hi, i just finish to sync repo for Ubuntu code and Cyanogen mod 10.1, all repos are done 100% without any problems, i have a few question:
Should i enable a device for cm 10.1 by mkdir in WORKING_DIRECTORY/devic/samsung and sync ancora's repos.
Can i enable a new device by edit defualt.xml in manifests after sync ancora's repos

Okay at this point in time I'm trying to make an hard port (the easy way) of CM7 by trying to make a generic build of CM7, then bundling it with Arco68's kernel and afterwards fix the libs and whatnot.
I've already managed to compile the generic build and am now playing around to create a working .ZIP file.
Update 1 : ZIP install fine, but no boot, at least for now. Time to play a little
Update 2: Hm, weird. I was convinced this was gonna work. I'm most likely missing some Samsung patches and **** that generic builds don't have. Going back to the drawing board.
Update 3: While I go into theories about how I should go about CM7, I'm also downloading the sources for Oxygen, because I prefer it over CM7. That way I can study both.
Right on bring it on !

Since hard porting was getting me nowhere, I decided to try the hard way and I'm currently making a vendor and device config manually. I'm basing it on YardE's awesome work on the Galaxy S Plus front. At least it saves me some work, but there is still a whole lot to do.

Good luck with that considering we have zero basis to work on and building a ROM from source. If you achieve the miracle of building a 'vendor' folder that actually compiles, tell me. That tutorial assumes you have a vendor config that works for your device.
Anyways good luck. I'm still trying to make a working vendor folder.

you can't even make a logcat file with adb, then how could you fix those bug from cm7? you've also mad a lot of fake guide which totally untested and potentially brick our device. I'm sorry but that's annoying.
Why He Try Cm7,With CM9 comming soon?
And He Only Want More Posts?
"[HOWTO] enable on-screen buttons as in ICS"
Why Enable It On 3,0 Inch Screen?
What kurotsugi is trying to say is that ur posts are untested and some are not worthy to be in dev section because u r not developing something, and yet will all the warnings, etc from other members u still do the same thing over and over
./adb logcat>log.txt
recreate bug
ctrl+c
then get the log.txt

developing a cm7 is imposible to be done by single person. the fact is that samsung have modified a lot in sgy modules, makes any attemt port a cm7 from another device is imposible. I've told that a long time a go. if he really want to port a cm7, why don't he join motafoca's project or phiexz's? it's better than spamming dev section with fake guides.

@wulsic and @corsicanu, you who have more experience with ROMs could answer me one thing? Lately'm interested by the Firefox OS, and found a tutorial to port Firefox OS for new devices, do if I follow himself being a beginner I would still be able to perform the port?
Link to the tutorial: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Firefox_OS/Developing_Firefox_OS/Porting
Note: If you are in the wrong place some moderator could move the topic? Thanks

I have never ported Firefox os before but I think that you could try to do it and then use our sourcecode . When you are creating those new files then I would say that you must take My cm11 Testing branch cause thats a good repository.
github.com/wulsic/android_device_samsung_nevispcm11
You must maybe remove some crappy lines, but you could watch to the example mentioned by the Firefox os people and compare it.
