I have a Tab 3 8.0 which I've done various installs with, and am trying to get back to stock.
But I can't, because when I enter recovery (power + down), ODIN MODE comes up with
Current Binary: Custom
Current Status: Custom
Downloading...
Do not turn off target !!
I've tried flashing stock firmware, other firmware, stock kernel etc.
I've read the process for going back to stock in the Tab 3 8.0 forum, but i think Odin (on PC) is failing because of the "Download..." state on the device.
(Also, when I try to run Kies it just continuously tries to connect to the device without success. The device will show up as media device in Win 7.)

Why go back?
There are many costomed stock Roms in the development thread.
Download one of them ,then flash via recovery.
If (or when) you press "V-down + power" and the screen image you have appears, then the device is ready for a download. If you go no further than that, you have booted into download mode. Nothing else. It will just sit there until you either reboot (hold power button down until display goes blank) or connect your device to your PC and download your OEM ROM.
Now, if (or when) you connect your PC and start ODIN's ROM download process, do not remove the USB cable, power off either the PC or the device, or you will end up doing serious (firmware) harm to your device.

If that's the case, then I must have something wrong on the PC end now. ODIN ( on PC ) refuses to 'see' it as does KIES.
However, if I just plug it in without either of those programs running, it does show up in File Explorer and I can browse the folders on the device.
If this were I having this problem, I would download the ODIN 3.07 again and use this new version. I would also reload my USB drivers. At least that would equalize everything with a fresh install. I would also go into TWRP and restore your last backup (that is if you have done a backup).
I have this old saying that got stuck in my head a long time ago; if it worked once, it will work again. Just be persistent and follow a methodical plan to get yourself back up and running.
So, I had Philz Touch as the recovery - I installed the latest TWRP, then re-installed the stock firmware.
DownloadMode now no longer shows the text in the upper left (ODIN MODE/product/current/system).
1. If i boot the tablet all the way into android, then boot Odin, it will see the tablet and give it an ID (but I can't flash a firmware from here.)
2. If i boot the tablet into download mode, then boot Odin, Odin will *not* see the tablet.

So just trying to understand your process...
1. You power up the device with power + vdown to enter download mode. Is that correct?
2. If 1 is correct then you see "Downloading... Do not turn off target!!" and in the upper left you see ODIN MODE, or words to that effect?
3. If 1 & 2 are correct, you then connect the USB cable to your device and then connect to the PC.
4. Next you RIGHT CLICK on ODIN 3.0x and select "Run as administrator". (Assuming Windows based PC)
5. In ODIN, do you see ID:COM 0:[COMx] where x is a COM port? The box should be a blue color. In the Message box should be <ID:0/00x> Added!! where x equals the COM port.
Is this what you have when #2 of your post is done? As for #1, if you boot into Android, I do not believe you can really do anything with ODIN. I just booted my P5210 into normal operating and connect to my PC. I have access to the storage so I can move files to/from the device. I then started ODIN and get the same as step 5 above, but I am sure I cannot download anything. I did not take it any further that just opening ODIN.

Previously, with Philz Touch + "stock kernel" I saw ODIN MODE ( the screen capture in my first post. )
Now, after installing TWRP + "stock kernel", I do not see ODIN MODE, I just see the Downloading... Do not turn off target.
OK... at this point I must throw in the towel. I see you are using Philz Touch which I have no idea what that is other than a "special" recovery. Plus you indicate "stock kernel" which I take to mean OEM ROM.
Sorry I can't help anymore. Gave it a college effort.

Thanks man... I've been fumbling with trying to return stock for awhile now.
I still think it is a USB driver issue. I don't think you need USB drivers to see the device as a USB external drive. I know I plug in and I go straight to the file system so I can move files to/from the Download folder and to/from the TWRP folder.
I go to Computer Management on my PC and when I plug in my device, I see the following two items appear
Modems - Samsung Mobile USB Modem
Portable Devices - My P5210 (this is where you will find the driver details)
Then, under Universal Serial Bus controllers I see the following - SAMSUNG Mobile USB Composite Devices
I am just still thinking about this, but I still am leaning toward USB drivers for your device on the PC.
I'm digging what you're saying re: drivers... it makes the most sense since during download mode, it wouldn't be seen as a multimedia devicee.
This is what I see when plugging it in - while i'm running the system. (i.e., not recovery or download.)
And under the Portable Devices you double-clicked SM-T310 to reveal the drivers? Can you delete the drivers and then reinstall them?
And as a last resort, I hope you have a restoration file you can download into TWRP folder so you can restore back to your last known good state. Hope being the operative word. Some times I forget to do a backup before playing and end up having to restore from an older backup.

Help - I have been trying to get back to the stock rom load ever since I used the update.zap to get 2.2.1. I have trouble getting my XP system to see the Epic in download mode. Well today it saw it so I tried using the software in Odin3+v1.61andepic.pit.zip. It failed once and then it looked like it worked (I think) but when I tried to power it up I got phone symbol connected to symbol with a ! in it connected to a symbol of a pc. Now I get the message on the pc that the device is not recognized.
Where do I go from here??????
If I can ever get the PC to see the phone, what files do I need to fix it.
Thanks for any help
George MacDonald
Ok, am assuming you have the following...
SPH-D700-DI18-8Gb-REL.tar.md5
20100512.pit (I have never used the 528.pit file to flash DI18 back on to the phone, only the 512.pit file, which is why I listed it here)
I am going to assume the newer v1.61 of Odin which you have will work ok with the above pit file, but it is only an assumption.
(Listing all steps just for the sake of having it all together, not trying to imply you were doing anything incorrectly)
Pull the battery from your phone and restart your computer. When it is all booted up, start odin and load the .tar.md5 (PDA section) and .pit (the PIT section) files into their respective places. Also make sure that only 'Reboot' is checked.
Next, insert the battery into your phone and boot into download mode (keyboard '1' + the 'Power' button). After it has entered 'Download' mode, then connect your phone to the computer with the usb cable. You should now see a COM port in Odin, if you dont, you need to try a different USB cable or port and try again until you do. If you have exhausted your available options with possible USB cables/ports, you may want to try uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers and trying again (if somehow you installed kies, I recall reading that at least one other person had an issue with it being installed, so try uninstalling that too).
As soon as your phone is recognized by Odin, hit the Start button and wait for it to finish. If it fails, pull the battery of your phone, close Odin, restart phone and Odin, and try, try again (following the same steps as above).
Addition: If your still having issues getting your device recognized, you can try 'uninstalling' the Epic or any 'Unknown Hardware' (have to make sure the phone is connected to do this) from the Device Manager in Windows, just make sure you also click the box to 'Delete the driver software for this device' if possible. When you have removed the Epic from the Device Manager, unplug your phone, reinstall the drivers, then plug your phone back in to see if it loads the correct drivers and recognizes it. When in download mode, the items in the Device Manager will be 'Modems->SAMSUNG Mobile Modem' and 'Universal Serial Bus controllers->SAMSUNG USB Composite Device'
+1 on the procedure...I thought I was bricked the first time I couldnt power up,just pull the battery. Now Ive seen this about 6 times, but I flashed back ti stock more then 100 times.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Tried on another computer
Well I found another computer to try. I found the Epic OK. Did the download as described above. Download failed.
I will try the above again tomorrow as I won't be able to get to the other computer until then.
Thanks for any help

Good News
Well finally some good news. I got it to work this morning. Went back and redownloaded all the files. Uninstalled the drivers on my computer. Borrowed the cable from my wife's Samsung. Put the original battery back in my Epic. Then I tried again. Work just like I was told it should.
I think that the two I had used before are bad. It looked like it would try to start and then the connection would be broken.
Now all I have to do is rebuild the system (the dumps I had taken are missing things like email accounts.
Thanks all for the help
George

Pull battery for 5 minutes, hold 1 + power WHILE inserting battery. Also, are you sure there is a charge on the battery?
This Guide Will Show you how to Unbrick your Galaxy Y
Things That You Need:

Disclaimer: I'm not responsible for any damage done to your phone.
Note: Samfirmware doesn't let you download Stock Roms for Galaxy Y anymore as it is an old device. Updated the guide below since I found another way on how to get the Stock Rom, It might be longer than usual but its the only way to ensure that we get the Official Stock Rom. I no longer have the device(GT-S5360) but the software that I found is the one that I use to download Stock Rom for my old device.
Instructions
1.Download the software below so we can download the Stock Rom. Click on the link then click the Blue Download Button
http://www.mediafire.com/file/2xtp37e2lq4w8wm/Frija-v1.4.2.zip/file
2.Open the Zip File then Extract the files to your folder of Choice or drag and drop it to another folder
3.Go to the Folder where you extracted the files then right click on Frija.exe then press Run as Administrator then press Yes if prompted.
4. Now the Frija Interface will show up. Make sure the Auto Box has Check on it. Now, You should focus only in Model Section and the CSC Section. On the Model Section, Type in GT-S5360.
5. For the CSC Section, We need to search this based on the country of your phone or where you bought the phone. Here is the link: https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-y/firmware/#GT-S5360 . Now once you opened the link, You'll need to find the Country/Carrier of the Country where you bought the phone and Carrier too if you bought it of a Carrier. Now once you found the your Country, Tap on the name of the Country and then look for Product Code. You can find below an example of the Product Code so you have a guide on how to find It. Once you found the Product Code, Go back to Frija and then on the CSC Section, Type it in then once your done. Press Check Update.

Simply turn on the phone. If the phone always stuck on boot animation, reboot to stock recovery (Vol UP+Home+Power) and select wipe data/factory reset.

turn phone off (or pull battery and put back in)
put your phone into download mode - hold vol down home button then with them held also hold power button
connect usb cable from phone to pc (use rear usb ports not front ones if you have front usb)
push vol up to start connection (if drivers are installed it should say android adb in device manager)
open odin 3.07 (other versions may work but thats the one I use)
if odin is connected it will say com then a number is a coloured box under com:id on the left hand side
only auto reboot and F.reset time shoud be ticked - DO NOT tick anything else!

I'm not doing this for warranty purposes, I'm just trying to revive my phone whether it be with or without root access.
Since you can get into download, try installing a custom recovery via Odin such as Philz Touch and then try to get into recovery. Maybe you existing recovery has been corrupted.
Perfect. Got it up and running. Thanks

Remember, as long as you are able to boot either in download mode or even your bootloader, you're pretty much guaranteed to get your phone back up and running. Although lets say you cannot access both, then you'll need to JTAG your device which may be difficult depending on your skill set in that area.
Can’t access to Download Mode or Recovery Mode after bricking AT&T Galaxy S3 i744 4.3
Hi I have (had) a AT&T galaxy S3 i747 with android 4.1.1

Because the phone is in another country I couldn’t update it by OTA to android 4.3
So I started to read forums that said how to Update AT&T S3 i747 to android 4.3 (I747UCUEMJB)
The S3 was not Root
I installed all the phone drivers in the computer
This is what I did: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52341582&postcount=38)
- Use Odin 3.07
- Check Auto Reboot and Re-Partition, and uncheck all the boxes
- I put my phone in USB debugging in the developer options
- I turned it off
- Started to put the phone on Download Mode pressing volume DW+home+power button at the same time
- In Odin on the PDA box I checked and loaded the file .tar.md5 (I747UCUEMJB_2024954_REV04_user_low_ship.tar.md5 )
- Pressed the button Start
The installation seemed to go right, the program never showed anything weird.
When the Programs finished the installation the phone turned off and then turned on and show the logo of android (seemed to be lying down or inclined) and after that it turned off.
The computer showed that something was connected (QHSUSB_DLOAD) but couldn’t install any driver, so I disconnected it of the computer.
I couldn’t turn on the phone :crying:, I took the battery out and put it in and tried to start the phone and nothing happened, I tried pressing any button to access to recovery o download mode and none of this worked.
I started to search forums that talk about restart or turn on a brick AT&T S3 i747
I found one (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2549068) that said to download a image (debrick-SGH-I747U-CUEMJB3.img) and using the program “Win32DiskImager” to put the image inside of a micro SD to make the phone turn on,
I put the micro SD inside the phone and when I pushed the power button for almost 3 seconds it Turned on , the phone seems to be fine an it has android 4.3 (I747UCUEMJB) installed.
I can use it normally so far.
But the problem is that I can’t turn on the phone if the micro SD card is not inserted on the phone.
Without the micro SD inside don’t show any sign of life
When the micro SD is inside I can turn on the phone and use its apps.
I have tried to enter to Recovery mode or Download mode with the micro SD inside but the phone only show what its supposed to happen for 1 second then turns off and then turns on by its own (after that I can use it normally)
Does anyone know how can I Fix my phone ?
How can I boot my phone without using the micro SD card?
How can I access to download mode?
And if I could access to download mode what should I do next ?
The only files I have now are:
Odin3 v3.07
I747UCUEMJB_2024954_REV04_user_low_ship.tar.md5(905 Mb)

Thanks in advance.
is thread still alive?.im having the same issue as op but when ever i flash a cwm or twrp recovery odin says pass and phone reboots to the same screen again..anybody have suggestion? my device is also i747
Flash cwm or twrp using Odin but don't check anything except f.reset time. When you see the word reset in the status window, disconnect USB cable, pull the battery, and boot into recovery.
no recovery still whatsoever..idk what my phone is up to..anything i try to flash with odin seems to fail except recovery..but even when it says pass it isnt installed?!.if i flash stock rom it says no pit partition but i already have the pit..curiously i noticed that my counter never increase..still 0 no matter how many times i flash cwm/twrp recovery..im not on 4.3 yet so im really freaked out..
Are you checking auto reboot in Odin when flashing recovery?
@audit13
Checked or unchecked yields same results..im smelling a fried emmc..might need board replacement..hard to find someone to replace emmc here in ph..

I'm also in this same situation. I revived my S3 from a long time being bricked so I can give it to my daughter and found myself in this same situation. It would only boot with the debrick sd card and won't boot into download mode. It would only stay for 1/2 a sec and then reboot. Has anyone been able to crack this? Thanks!
A tiny help
Hi, i have been really disconected of this.
Good and big bad news.
The good is could fix the phone, the bad is i dont remenber the procedure i did to fix it, i just searched in many forums, and tried many methods and downloaded some files that helped me to fix it. the only thing i remenber is i download a .rar that contain the android 4.3 for the samsung i747. Even though i dont remind what i did, hope this pictures of the files i used to recover the phone works for you.
if you find this files on the web, or when i have time to upload them hope they can help you.
sorry, but thats what a i call this a small and insignificant Help

I have not had to use a debrick image myself. I have read where once you have the phone booted using a debrick image you can remove the card and replace it with one holding a ROM image which can then be flashed from a custom recovery. If you don't have a custom recovery installed you may be able to install the ROM with adb/fastboot after changing the cards. If this is not clear, there may be a better worded answer posted in one of the debrick threads.
Thanks. I already have the other sd card with the rom, kernel, etc. ready to flash but since I don't have custom recovery, I'm stuck. I remember seeing a thread mentioning about using adb/fastboot. I'll continue searching.

Hey guys, my friend recently bought an LG G2 on Sprint, but switched carriers to T-Mobile. He rooted his phone successfully, and tried to install custom recovery but downloaded some app that screwed up his phone (not completely sure what happened... he told me he installed a flashing app that flashed recovery but long story short, his phone is in a boot loop.) I can access download mode, and fastboot. When I connect the phone to the computer, my Windows 8.1 Laptop, nothing pops up. I already installed ADB and Fastboot, and when I put the phone into fastboot mode and plug it into the computer, it is recognized but keeps saying "oops!" connection to USB failed trying again.... fastboot ready! etc. etc. I installed the LG Flash tool but the computer won't recognize my device in device manager! I'm really frustrated why it won't recognize it. It shows nothing except ACER Fastboot Device. I just want it to recognize it in download mode so i can flash it back to stock with the LG Flash tool.
Pls halp.
I had to download lg universal drivers for my laptop to recognize my phone in download mode give that a try
im in the same boat as the op. i have tried to install various drivers. im able to get into download mode but no communication with the comp. i try going to recovery but it is gonna and i see some type of fastboot. unsure where to go from here...
This is exactly what i did

not finding the ports under device manager anywhere.

P.S. I have another G2 with normal running android. This G2 has normaly recognized in device manager. So problem not in cable or usb port's.

does the computer make a noise when you plug in the device? Also are you sure your in download mode ? (not just the dots) If you have just the dots, then go info fastboot mode and flash both the boot.img and laf.img then reboot into download mode and see if it works
I just put my g2 in download mode and pluged her up. in device manager it poped up under lge android modem, in the modem section of device manager.
Look there first. Then you will have to change the port to 41 so the flash tool will work
If you have qpst it will Tell you what port

what i had to do when this happened to me, was swap out the device at sprint (had insurance), without insurance you can swap it for $75ish plus tax or if its still under warranty, go through LG

Hello all,
I've got a big problem after resetting my LG G4 to default settings.
But let's start chronologically :
My LG G4 (bootloader unlocked, rooted, TWRP, Freedom Rom V7.5) should have been reset for being used by another person.
I started TWRP, did a factory reset and a full wipe and restarted it.
By then, the phone only started in TWRP... REBOOT SYSTEM also caused a TWRP restart.
I tried to fix this by flashing CWM recovery via adb and then reinstall an image.
Connecting via adb succeeded, flash recovery succeeded .....
But now, there isn't any recovery anymore. Entering recovery by POWER /VOL DOWN causes the
same boot loop as starting the system. The LG logo appears and it restarts immediately.
I only can start in download mode via POWER UP / CONNECT, but the phone isn't recognized in adb
or in odin anymore.
Doing a complete STOCK FLASH via LGUP TOOL can't be done due to the tool telling me that the
model is unknown....
Is there any way to bring the phone back to life again ? I'm totally clueless ... Thanks in advance !

Searching for related posts using the keywords 'boot loop' or 'recovery gone' really doesn't help me ...
As I said, I can't use

- adb
- FlashTool

Most bootloop topics recommend using one of them in different ways ...
Is there a tool not mentioned yet that will help me with my problem ?
As I said, thre search function does'nt bring me to a clue

Connect your device to the computer and see how is detected by "Windows Device Manager".
If not as it should, try to uninstall all related hardware drivers, like modem, adb device, whatever...
Reinstall "LGMobileDriver_WHQL_Ver_4.2.0"
Reinstall "LGUSBModemDriver_Eng_WHQL_Ver_4.9.4_All"
Reinstall "Minimal ADB and Fastboot"
Reboot your computer and reconnect yout device. It should work.

What modem and bootloader (is it v29a nougat beta?)
FWUL is good (https://forum.xda-developers.com/an.../live-iso-adb-fastboot-driver-issues-t3526755) as it avoids any driver issues - it is a bootable linux distro with LG tools built in.
In there, SALT can tell you what your bootloader stack is. Let me know as the version depends on the steps you should take next

Good enough for me
Look at the system one - It says v29a.
So what I want you to try now. Power off your phone. Then, hold power and volume up and hopefully it will boot into the bootloader (at which point you can reflash twrp from twrp.me - cwm is completely outdated)

Mine when I connect to PC (USB2), option "Only Charge" on the phone and turn ON, is shown in Device manager as "Android device/ Android Sooner Single ADB Interface"
Also as "Device/G4"
After change the option "Only Charge" to "Multimidia Devica (MTP)", is shown as "Android Device/LGE Mobile ADB Interface".
Also as "Portable Device/G4", and, "Modems/LGE Mobile USB Modem".
In "Firmware Update" mode, comes as "LGE AndroidNet USB Serial Port (COM4)" and also as "Modems/ LGE AndroidNet USB Modem".
If the phone had v29a installed, you need v20p.kdz and respective "8994.dll", you can extract it from the .kdz. Than you can use LGUP.

Strange. Sounds like you may have a mixture of v29 and v20
Try pulling the battery. Then put it back in, hold vol down and plug in the usb cable and keep holding vol down.

Look at the firmware(laf): v20g
That's his bootloader stack
He flashed freedom ROM which has v29a as base that's why system shows v29a.
Sent from my LG-H815 using XDA Labs

Sorry, as I mentioned, LGUP can't be used because the tool reject the phone selection because it's "unknown"

Do you have the right "8994.dll" ???
Because to get out from v29a you need the v20p.kdz and the ""8994.dll"" from it. Thats probably why your phone is "unknown"

You just need the right "8994.dll" on the folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP\model\8994", replace the one that you have there with the one extracted from the v20p.kdz.
After that run LGUP.
