You know what this means right? The latest 4.3 will roll for the 6506 just before this shows up for the 6503 and puts everyone in a holding pattern for another month or two while waiting for the 6506 version to roll...

Really close to when the official US version of the 6506 hit as well...
Not to worry, they'll get it to us eventually... gives me excuse to play with the original development roms again...

I find I still have bluetooth issues with Omni... I haven't really played with AOKP KK or CM11 recently... (last time I tried CM11, BT was very buggy...) and Liquid Smooth KK looks great... but some combination of things resulted in it not seeing my sim/baseband, etc...
I know that I don't seem to experience very good battery life with KK ASOP roms... of course, I don't see very great stock rom battery life either. I should spend some quality time with BBS and try and nail down what usually kills my battery life.

It really depends on how much I'm using my phone and if I'm playing games...
Yesterday I was at ~ 56% after ~ 11 hours on a custom sony rom... but it was fairly light usage (30-40 minutes of bluetooth audio playback, multiple gmail account access, some twitter, some facebook, some facebook messenger, some google hangouts, no calls, a few texts, etc.)
Similar time frame on ASOP (Omni) I would have ~ 40%... perhaps a little less. It's not terribly scientific as I'm not doing the exact same thing every day on my phone. it's also not like I don't use my phone at all... I did discover that HDwidgets was really killing my battery recently so I stopped using that.. OH, and to get better battery life on ASOP I'd also disabled GPS and google location services.
In general numbers, I generally see another 3-4 hours of run time when I'm using a Sony stock rom vs ASOP... but I know others get significantly better battery life than I do. *shrug*
(btw, today I'm at ~ 41% battery left after ~ 11:50 on battery, and I have ~ an hour of screen time. (~61% of my battery use is Android OS today... over 9 hours of keep awake time)

So Z and ZL will be later then April ....

Hi,
I've come from HTC Desire Z with really active development community. My Ion has only a month now, but I'm really fed up with the Timescape UI. It really cannot be compared to Sense UI.
Can you please give me your experiences with Ion flashing and what rom is suitable for daily driver usage? I would unlock my phone and flash Paranoid Android rom, but I fear it will still contain lots of bugs. Any useful experience? Thanks
PS: maybe it's worth waiting for JB update sometimes in march/april?

Thanks. I may wait few weeks, not to unlock my phone one month after buying but I miss flashing already now...
Does everything work as expected? What about battery usage?
I'm fed up with the Xperia UI crap.
Lot of things I expect to be working fail. Like timer, I set it for 10 minutes and it just disappears and no alarm comes. Also the energy saver app closes and even I set up the energy saver from 0:30 to 5:30, it just closes the app and does not work.
All of these features should work like a charm. Never had such problems with my former HTC Desire Z on any ROM.
So, my other question is: do these things work on PA 3.0? Thanks a lot for your experiences. I was planning to wait for jb update on Ion, but it looks like rooting and flashing soon...
Hi all,
i just bought another arc s for my girlfriend, im running lupusv16, hd4 rom & hd 4.8 mod setup for gaming ext.
i expected mine to be quicker but ive just tested them side by side and the stock one loads web pages about 2 seconds quicker every time??
any ideas why?

Stock ICS or stock GB?
If GB, no wonder.
If ICS...well, our phones are not made to run such advanced apps (apps ported from Xperia Z for example), they just demand more power than stock ones, thereby working slower than stock.

I can believe u cause I saw something like this...
I don't know why but newer phones are always faster than old(from one special model...).
Also rooted phones are not as good in performance as a new phone that isn't rooted yet...
The other reason of this, is DRM keys...
When I unlock my bootloader and lost the DRM keys ,my phones performance decreases...
Anyway when u know arc s doesn't support from Sony more why u bought a new one for ur girlfriend?
Bumer for ur gf...
We will die in stock jb release hope...
I bought mines in feb
I was about to get xperia S but I liked the design of arc S
So I got it, is my first android, didnt know anything about ICS or GB and didnt know ICS was soo sucky and also didnt know that sony stopped working on these devices, they should stop selling if they are not working anymore
Tho my phone is also slow in ICS with 12W46 manufacturing date and for some reason I just cannot unlock bootloader

I think you are forgetting dome of the facts
Well fitst even if you use brand new stock gb or ics its still brand new which means he got only few apps installed as for your arc s with uhd and uhd mod using for a while i bet you got much more apps and much more ram consumers.
Second uhd as imself is a great rom "slim and fast" but when you added uhd mod u now make it not slim anymore which means less speedy
So yes it may give you few more options for customising your phone but be aware that those extra options gonna make your phone slower
This is my opinion
Sent from my LT18i using xda app-developers app
The ONLY!! reason our phones are so slow is the lack of RAM! A 1.4GHz processor is enough to run any android application if you have enough ram.
I would never give my arcs away if I had a way to add more ram to the phone lol
Hi everyone
I made this discussion to explain why we should update to JB Although we know ICS is better for us
Battery, camera, wifi and 2g is better works on ICS
So, I did not find anything distinctive call me for the update
because ics is and always was a load of poo?
Sent from my AOSP 4.3 Xperia S via Tapatalk
Why do you need to create a thread? It's a waste of space. Use the existing JB thread. Besides, your thesis statement is extremely poor. Sony fixed all the bugs you mentioned with .96 .

Phone is more fluid on JB, enough for me to update.
Also more apps are compatibile in google play (stronger API)
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app
it's up to you. if you want to update just update . if you want to stay just stay. everybody have they own opinion.
I've updated to JB because the feature implemented by google, like google now, project butter, etc.
and I don't have problem with battery, camera, wifi, 2g in JB. I can accept battery life and camera quality in JB. wifi is good, and i'm barely touch 2G since i live in the middle of city with a lot of 3G signal.
however, you can try latest JB update from sony (even some custom ROM). but if you are not happy, then you can go back to ICS whenever you want. you're not forced to use JB anyway.

Yes both camera and battery life is superb on JB.....i found problem in video recording which is solved by LG Camera App....check That thread of mine for more info........
Because yes.
Maybe you should stick with GB . And I'm serious here, Bravia Engine works on unlocked bootloaders, it's probably the least memory intensive stock OS you can get, so not as much apps getting closed and camera was also arguably the best on GB roms. I'd never want to use a 3 year old OS, but if full functionality is your deal, maybe that's the way to go.
ICS is one big lagfest. That people are still complaining about the .96 update is because people just like complaining and they forget easily. I haven't seen one proper side-by-side comparison of the ICS vs JB firmware, so what can you base your judgment on? If you think Google Now doesn't negatively affect the battery, you're naive. But luckily you can disable that (it's not even on by default). Your phone is also getting older, it's very possible that your battery performs less good than a year ago, that might cost you 30-60 minutes in battery life by now. If you'd compare battery life under heavy usage between .96 and .55, there probably won't be any difference because the screen drains the most. I couldn't tell you how long the phone lasts if you barely touch it, because I use it too much for that. And any standby battery drain is for me easily worth it because JB is just so much snappier. I also almost never go 4 hours without a plug near me (and that's being hyperbolic, I just charge at night and that suffices).
And about the camera focusing slowly, it has done that on every firmware I've ever had on this phone. I remember reading the reviews before buying my XS, and journalists were complaining about the focusing time, now have it more than 12 months. It's possible that ICS .50 and .55 were a little better but it was never a strong point.
But I barely tried the .96 update since I upgraded to OpenSEMC a day or 2 after the .96 release. Infinite customizing lured me away .

10 hours was not normal at all. You're getting very bad results that noone else is getting. I'd check your apps, maybe do a clean installation. Also the results of the first day don't mean much because the phone is syncing a lot at the beginning. And disable Google Now.

hello. its been a while since i have updated my phone.
i have z1 compact
build number: 14.4.A.0.108
android: 4.4.4
model: d5503
rooted :yes
using xposed 2.7 experimental.
my phone works fine no issues. is it worth my while to update to lollipop?
if so can i update from this build num to the latest lollipop or do i need to through the various builds from mine?
thanks
Yes, I like it a lot and think it's a big improvement to KK.
No!
Its not easy to use as 4.4..
The battery is draining, and the os is taking more space..

My general rule of thumb was and is: DON'T touch things which work.
I am on the same OS/ROM as you and I don't plan to do any changes.
Too many complains about lolipop.
if there was no battery drop I would say yes, but now i say dont. wait for 5.1
wait 5.1 lad.
Try to w8 for 5.1 I'v also used LP but I revert back to 108 Munjeni because of battery drain and now on 108 everything works great and I'm waiting for 5.1
Wysłane z mojego D5503 przy użyciu Tapatalka
Don't! Lollipop ruins your battery, now my phone barely last 6 hours and randomly drops to 0 when doing some heavy task. It's becoming more and more common if you read this thread. Just wait till 5.1.1 and wait a few weeks after to see if there are bugs.
Background program handling is much worse in LP. At least for me. Programs now restart instead of picking up where I left them. Could be a memory bug, since the phone tends to restart after about a week of use, and symptoms such as gps stops working appear.
I upgraded without a factory reset, which could play a role.
Battery same as KK for me.
For the OP I would recommend waiting for 5.1 and the first few user reviews before upgrading.

Lollipop is as good as kitkat for me. Just do a clean install and you will be fine.
Since we never benefit by the most two important things in Lollipop of Camera API2 or 64bit, actually it is just a waste of time for Z1c to upgrade unless you real want to try out new stuffs. And 5.0.2 got memory leak, 5.1.1 should be much better on handling memory but still some leaks there. KK got the best battery for all.

yes and no, there is no memory leak, but the managment is worse. Ppl with 5.1.1 on Z3 are saying the managment os changeable apps got much better and for other devices too.
in my case battery is much better than on KK (about 2,5 days with "normal" use and display-on-time about 3,5 hours)
Why?
I disabled a lot of services, debloated the ROM and use Greenify, AppOps and a firewall.
And also important: i always close all recent apps before turning off the display
Which ROM?
look at my sig
p.s. photo quality is also worlds better
the worst action i took was uograding my phone to lollipop it seriously ruined my phone battery , heating issues , bootloops plus others so im waiting 5.1 to fix it as i called sony and they told me so , so never update your phone and listen to all these people telling you not you have a great stable firmware (kitkat) with xposed working flawlessly and those who told you to upgrade just got lucky and soon they will face exact problems
Firmware init + new SIM and always problems during calls....?!,?!,

Depends on phone usage so for every one time will be dramatically different. For example I don't play games, just serf the web watch YT form time to time and read a lot of books. Also my optimus g pro is just 3 month old so I don't suffer form battery degradation yet.

I have E986 bought in Germany. No problem whit WiFI signal is as strong and stable as on stock rom. The only problem whit this rom that I have is whit whatsapp (phone hang twice already) but creator of the app don't recommend it whit any custom rom. I'm using Resurrection Remix 5.4.6
Phone calls ok
camera ok
games ok
video hardware acceleration ok
battery life ok
I'm currently on this (v6.5): http://forum.xda-developers.com/opt...share-rom-lollipop-super-lte-v6-5-g4-t3152144
Very nice looking ROM (i like LG's approach to lollipop design), and everything works, including Qremote, and other LG features. Battery drain just a little more than stock 4.4.2. V7i looks even better (exactly like G4), but GPS may not work.

Its original LG stock lollipop whit LG G4 apps. Installation is a bit tricky because you need Philz Touch recovery to install rom, and because this recovery have an error you will end up will phone constantly booting to recovery, so you need to have twrp recovery in zip and install it from Philz Touch recovery in order to boot up you phone.
Rom itself is grate just the thing that all of us (excluding those from Korea) were waiting for original - rom from LG that works and nothing crash or hang
Dear,
I'm using SlimLP and it's really The best. I tested with many Roms, but this is awesome.
In 4 days, i don't have any issue. The battery time is really good and The random freezes on other roms have disappeared.
Try it!

Which Rom and phone are you using? Their website doesn't state e980 as being supported.

Install Ampere and check the current you're getting from your charger/cable. If it's low (under 400mA) you may want to try with other charger or cable.
Also, if charging on USB, enable Fast charge in Kernel Adiutor.

Your suggestion to use Ampere saved me. I begin looking further since my mA was less than 50 lol..... Your 400 statement made me curious. Turns out the T-Mobile My Account App was killing the battery, causing the phone to get hot and not charge. Once I uninstalled that app, charging has been working for a few days now. Which is weird since I used that app on stock, CM, and Bliss without that charging issue. All good though. Thanks for replying

Hm, that one is a weird reason for low battery charging... Either way, you shouldn't get under 400mA for this phone, it simply won't charge (at least mine doesn't). Good stable 2A charger or usb3 port (max current is 1A for those) should fix the issue. Also, avkid using powerbanks, in my experience they do rechaege your phone, but charge is bad - it drains itself, lol.
