Wallpaper Information Needed

I'd like to have a go at making some wallpapers to share with everyone for the Touch HD. Before I do could you advise me of the following:
- What file type are wallpapers;
- What pixel size should the wallpaper be;
- What dpi is required for a high quality image for dsiplaying on the phone.
Many thanks
Never mind guys. I ended up making a few wallpapers with the following spec (I hope that is correct):
- file type: .png
- size: 480x800 pixels
- dpi: 200

Thank you for confirming that.
Yes, I'll use photoshop. I'm still learning photoshop but I'll give it a go anyway.
I have now made a few, here; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846092
I have a few more ideas so will make them as I get time....
Is it possible to have a clear home screen without a clock or any icons so the wallpaper can be seen?
I think in the home >settings>today you can switch things on and off. To be honest though you can see quite alot. You can minimise the clock which shows more.
Have a go at installing some of my wallpapers and see how they come out (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846092). It only takes a few seconds and you can revert back to OEM easily.

[Firefox addon] Flip images to allow scan QR codes

Hello.
I had create Firefox add-on. It flips image on web pages to help Archos Gen8 recognize QR codes. As default Archos grabs mirrored image by front-face camera.
Download Firefox add-on here: https://addons.mozilla.org/ru/firefox/addon/261479/
Update: In 3-7 days my add-on will be reviewed and it will have public page on addons.mozilla.
In to-do: add options to scale small QR codes. For example. If QR code on page 100x100px. It will be difficult to make good shot of it. It may resize it to 400x400 px or 300x300px. Is it good idea?
This extension works only one time on the image. If you need to revert image to normal view - simple refresh (F5) the page.
Known bugs: In Firefox 4.0beta There is a problem with image quality. I try to find solution. So small QR codes will be difficult to scan (100x100px or smaller)
Example of flipped images in attachment.
You should add option to flip back rotated image.
Maybe you should make a sub-menu with options flip/set size/reset
Tnx for sharing.

Hi-Res wallpapers

With the 800x1280 screen of the Gnex I have had to toss alot of my mobile specific wallpapers from previous devices.
In my search for wallpapers I have come across a great thread on another forum
http://euphoricarythmia.com/showthread.php?t=31291
Where the OP has individually posted a number of hi-res images at around 1440x1280.
I took the liberty of downloading those images and putting them into 1 file for easy download

Please feel free to post links to your wallpapers.

How do you use the wallpaper on the Galaxy nexus?
Everytime I select one of the pictures it crops and shrinks it hard.

Long press home screen, select gallery, select wallpaper, drag from any blue square corner to resize (to full size) and you are done.

Hi, here is my problem.
Attached are the screenshots:
Picture 1: Current wallpaper
Picture 2: Try to add a 1440x1280 as the background
Picture 3: Move the crop to take up the full screen
Picture 4: Picture only takes up a tiny bit of the screen.
Anyone know what's wrong?
Cheers.

[HOW TO] [Custom Wallpapers] w/Gimp 2

NOTE: This is only instructional information for those looking to make their own 1920x1920 edited HD wallpapers and are tired of looking for 1920x1920 wallpapers. I didn't see a similar thread on here and thought I would share some tips for those who aren't familiar with making/editing their own wallpapers.
So I got tired of searching for wallpapers and just edited desktop wallpapers for myself. I just searched on Google for cool stuff, like zombies, movies, anime, digital art, robots, etc, and found a bunch of 1920x1080 wallpapers. I would also recommend adding HD or 1080p in your search criteria to ensure the best quality. Obviously they are made for desktops, so I used Gimp 2 to edit them, by doing an Image > Canvas Size, switching the width to 1080 so it's then 1080x1080. Then do an Image > Scale Image and upscale them to 1920x1920. It's difficult to do because you're essentially taking a rectangular image and making it into a square image when it's not really designed for that. But if you can find the right images, it should be pretty easy to decide how to resize them and to know what to cut off. I've attached an example below. Once you've resized the image to 1080x1080, scale it to 1920x1920, and then if it needs a Sharpen filter, go to Filter > Enhance > Sharpen. And I found out the hard way that Gimp is different from photoshop, as you can't save files that easily as .png/.jpg/.gif file types. You can't just select Save As, you have to go to File and then Export to save it that way.
You can use Photoshop to do this as well. I just particularly prefer Gimp, but to each their own And you can get Gimp for free, just search for Gimp on google.com and it should be the first or second link there that you can download and install it for free. If you want to see more of the ones I've made, as I've made a good bit, just PM me and I can email you a zip file with all the ones I've made in it. If enough people ask for them, I may just edit this post and see if I can just upload them all on here. Or some of them anyway
Image 1. Shows how to resize
Image 2. Shows how to scale image
Image 3. Shows final image
If you have any questions, let me know. (Tried to make this as detailed as possible if you aren't familiar with Gimp or photo editing)

Adapt app to all screen size

Hi, I'm developing a material design calculator but I have a problem: How could I do to adapt buttons to alla screen size? For example on mi Xperia S buttons are too small! If you want screenshot or the xml code tell me it. I'm sorry for my bad english I'm only 14 XD
Hi,
You need to use the size in DP instead of PX and use max/min size attribute on your XML file
Start using dp (density independent pixels), they are designed to scale a graphic to "real-life size" for example 48dp is a little bigger than the size of our fingers and is the recommended size for buttons in order to be easily touchable.
If you need more info about density independent pixels read from Android Developer's page "Supporting Different Densities" (I'm new here and I can't post URLs, just google it).
At first you need to read "Support multiple screens" article on android developer website.
For my opinion the best way is to use wrap_content match_parent instead of pixels.
Hi,
Since you mentioned you're making a calculator app, while using "dp" for button dimensions, I also suggest you look into using "weights".
These can evenly space out your buttons in a layout.
To use weights in Android, your content must be wrapped in a LinearLayout.
