there are numerous threads around about people who had custom recoveries and performed the official update. As a result the tablet semibricked and only enters the recovery like in your case.

In a pickle as well
Here is where I am at with this "no download mode" issue.
Rooted via Kingo. Sideloaded TWRP via ADB. Sideloaded most recent CM nightly via ADB. Sideloaded GApps via ADB. Rebooted. Landed into CM boot animation with no end. Waited 10 minutes. Rebooted. Same boot length, no OS. Launched TWRP. Wiped everything except external SD. Why I did this, I don't know. I sometimes make rash decisions when stressed.
I can boot into TWRP but I cannot seem to get Download Mode to work. I have installed and uninstalled the official LG G Pad Drivers 3 times now in Win 8. I can get the tablet recognized in the Device Manager however the LG Mobile Support Tool does not see it because no Download Mode. I have tried 2 diff USB cables, different USB ports, no change. I tried Vol -, then plug in power. I tried Vol - and Vol + then plug in power. Nothing.
Help?
---------- Post added at 03:04 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:50 AM ----------
I re-read the 3 posts that were linked in the previous reply. I retried all of the steps and here is the one that I think worked. I did a full cycle. I booted into TWRP. Turned device off. Held down Vol - and Vol + for about 5 secs before I plugged in the device. LG Mobile Support Tool could not see the tablet. My PC recognized the device but said the drivers were not loaded correctly. I unplugged the device but left it in Download Mode. Plugged it back in and left the Device Manager open. Drivers loaded ok, LG Mobile Support Tool connected. Updating recovery currently - 1.5Gs to go.

Hello, first I'd like to thank you for your time reading this.
Note: I've searched the forums a lot, even for other LG Devices (G2 for ex) but I couldn't find a solution.
Trying to flash CM12 by _infected (amazing rom, working as a daily driver on my other lg pad btw) and messed up something on TWRP.
-First trying to do a Factory Reset via TWRP gave me "failed to mount /data" and "/system" I rebooted and the device went straight to TWRP Recovery, I rebooted again, this time making sure I selected "Reboot to System" and it went again to TWRP Recovery...
- I did another wipe, this time wiped everything (all checkboxes in TWRP), reboot and... no boot...
Now my LG Pad is at the following State:
- Black Screen (No LG Logo)
- Connecting USB to Windows gives the "connected sound"
- Adb doesnt find device (driver was installed and working).
- Device Manager "refreshes" on USB plug but doesnt show the device (or I can't find it?).
- Holding Power on the tablet while USB plugged to Windows gives the "disconnected sound" -> "connected sound" -> "connected sound".
- Can't boot into Download Mode.
- Can't turn off the Tablet... only Reboots holding Power key.
Please? Any help?
What can I do?
Is warranty void at this point?
Thank you very much for any help you can provide.
I have a G pad in the same situation, and I wasn't able to fix it. I managed to pick up another cheap one, but I'll follow this thread in case you get an answer.
You have to find a way to get it into download mode or you wont be able to fix it with LG Tool
What did you mess up, and how did you install twrp ? Also what twrp version abd base.

For me personally, I assumed it'd be as easy as the twrp page makes it out to be , or my nexus 4 was, so I just went for it. I ran into that secure boot error with twrp, and rebooted back into stock. There was an OTA update, so I did it (stupid I now realise) and that bricked it on reboot. It won't turn on at all. If i plug into USB on a computer it OCCASIONALLY brings something up on the screen, the LG logo I think or something, but I cannot for the life of me get it into download mode. It's at home right now, so ic anot remmeber the exact thing it shows on screen, but almost certainly not download mode, and none of the hardware buttons seem to be responsive for doing factory resets or download or anything.
I managed to send the LG G Pad to warranty and got a new one... Lucky me...
Guess that if we can't get into DL mode they can't either.
However after much investigation I've realized that the problem was a corrupted system partition...
hello geeks,
I really need serious help. First the setup I have is as follows
1. I have LG G3 D855 but its european or Hong Kong or Taiwan version I don't know. I bought it in India. I updated it to android 5.0 Lollipop. Everything is fine till now.
2. Then I rooted my phone. This step was also fine. No problem.
3. Then I tried to download camera mod v2.0 to get some extra camera features like 60fps. In this step I got problems. I downloaded the media_profile.xml and copied it to /system/etc. But I made a mistake that I did not change its permission and rebooted the phone.
I am troubleshooting from a windows 8.1 PC. I downloaded the LG USB driver.
Due to this my phone stop at initial LG,Life is Good Screen. I tried different methods in internet.
1. I tired to access the device file file through adb. But the adb does not list the device.
2. I tried to use fastboot mode, but still fastboot does not list device when in the boot screen.
3. I pressed down pwr + volume down button and release after screen come up and then press again. I was asked to erase user data. I said yes and it erased the data. But still the same symptom when I reboot. Stuck at initial screen.
4. I tried to use LG PC Suite. But it does not even detect phone through the USB and there is no repair button.
5. I tried to enter downloading mode. This one is strange. I pressed down the vol up and then connected USB. But sometimes only it enters downloading mode and sometimes not. May be once in 10 times it enters downloading mode and 9 times it goes to initial boot LG screen.
I am not sure whats going on. Can anybody help me to figure it out ? Please help.
Thats because your not doing it properly
Research a guide on how to enter download mode and after that you can use flashtool to wipe your system and reinstall the original lg firmware
I have just flash the custom 5.0.2 ROM using philz touch 6.48.4.
After I flashed the ROM, I reboot to the philz recovery and flashed back to cwm 6.0.4.8.
However, the device stuck on the LG logo screen.
I have try to enter Download mode/Emergence mode/Hard reset mode/Recovery, but all of them I cannot go into.
Please help! Thank you for your helping!!

Your boot loader is broken. Gonna have to get to the down load mode and reinstall either the or the stock. You can probably flash the recovery with .IMG file with lg flashing tool. Nerdy blond's twrp is one of those files that you can use. You can even try installing it first with the adb shell command, you can get the instructions at the same place where you download.

Thank you for replying.
I cannot do anythings since I cannot enter into download mode.
I pressed volume key + and - and insert the usb cable to computer. There is nothing happened, computer dose not show the devices attached and the phone stay in the LG logo screen.
Also, I cannot use adb commands to force the phone enters into download mode as it shows nothings under "List of devices".
Is there any methods I can go into the download mode???
Thank you!

If your phone shows LG start screen, it should go into Download mode. I had similar problem few days ago while I was testing some kernel patches, it just froze on the LG screen. Solution was to unplug it, remove it's battery, SIM & SD (you don't have to remove SIM & SD, I just work that way) , make sure it's off, return battery back, press Vol + & Vol - at the same time and plug-in the USB cable.
Before that, make sure you have installed LG Unified driver (can be obtained via LG's software from support site), because without that Windows won't recognise your device.
After that, once you make your phone usable with Freegee/whatever you use to install initial recovery, flash official TWRP, because others are too old - that Philz CWM is old but still working with Lollipop but not work good and is tends to lock itself into a bootloop if you use hardware keys to enter; that other one, from GPRO_recovery APK is not supported and not working well (for me since day one), so it should be replaced as soon as possible.
Also, I can suggest you to flash your phone from stock 4.1 (not KitKat), root, flash recovery via freegee and after reboot update to latest official TWRP via Flashify.

I have tried to reinstall the LG driver and try to enter download mode again.
The screen is still stuck on LG logo and I cannot find the device in hardware manager (cannot recognize it).
I cannot do anythings until it can recognize it.
(Is it the bootloader is broken? and can I fix it?)
Thank you very much and waiting for your reply soon.:good:

Which version of Windows are you using? It should be displayed under Serial ports in Device manager (named something like LGE Serial device) and LGFlashTool should recognise it immediately. I can't make you a screenshot/check for real name because I'm running Linux right now and can't reboot.
Also, try with another cable/port, remove all other android drivers you may have (Samsung's, Google's...) and disable antivirus.

OK, it doesn't enter download mode. So, step by step:
- remove battery and leave it for 15-30 seconds, return battery
- press Vol+ and Vol- at the same time and keep them pressed,
- plug USB cable in while keys are pressed
It should immediately put you into download mode, with no LG screen, just black screen with gray box and red text I've described to you.

So, whatever you try to do, phone just shows LG logo, not even a message in an upper left corner?

I have changed the cable, but it is the same.
Dear xda-developers-community,
I'm trying to get a phone of a friend of mine working which just reboots whenever the phone is started. The resulting boot loop can only be interrupted by taking the battery out or wait until it is depleeted.
In order to fix this soft-brick I first tried to use recovery by pressing VOL - & POWER. In the menu, I could select and confirm to recover to factory settings, but after some seconds the boot loop appeared again with (seemingly?) no change having been made. The error kept appeaing over and over again.
After trying recovery mode, I attempted to start the phone in download mode by pressing VOL + on the (switched off) phone and connecting a USB cable. The respective menu also opened, here, showing "Firmware Update" and "Do not unplug the USB connection until the process is complete". According to many tutorials I found on the internet, when having installed the required drivers (I used LG United Mobile drivers from here), this procedure should allow you to flash a recovery image through LG's flashing tool (which one can also find on that page).
However, when I connect the LG G3 (D855) to a computer the driver is installed on, there is no new device shown in the Device manager. I tried this out with Windows 10 x64 and Windows 7 x64 and disabled driver validation on both systems and enabled test signing on Windows 10, respectively. Additionally, I followed these instructions, but in this case the screen stays dark and the device is not detected either. It seems like there are not so many people experiencing this error, but I hope we can find a solution.

This may sound like a dumb question, but have you tried a new battery yet? If it is one of the original batteries it could have gone bad & started bootlooping...like mine did a few months ago.
As far as the PC not recognizing the phone you can try downloading USBDeview and uninstall anything that has the vendor ID's of 1004 & 18d1(pretty much anything that says android or LGE in the description) & reboot the PC. Hopefully it'll recognize your device and install the drivers the next time you plug it in. If it doesn't find the drivers automatically for you then install LG drivers manually.

Link for LGE drivers: http://www.lg.com/us/support/software-firmware-drivers

I was recently planning to install Miui 7 on my Fire Phone. So, i installed safestrap 4.01.
1. I opened safestrap recovery mode
2. I wiped (First screen of Safestrap recovery mode)
3. I installed Cleansystempartition.zip
and then i don't know why, but i lost my mind and decided not to install Miui 7 and i went back and clicked on reboot.
So, now my Amazon Fire phone is stuck at boot logo and i can't even enter recovery mode.
It doesn't respond when connected to PC. It is charging and again when i boot again get stuck on boot logo.
Please reply ASAP.

Thanks for your time, but i couldn't understand how ADB is used. I installed adb drivers (tried bunch of times) but can't figure out how to do steps you suggested.
Could you please elaborate in detailed step-by-step, or provide me some revalent link so that I (noob) could understand easily. Once again thanks for help !
Code:
Is there any way i can ensure that proper drivers are installed for my Fire Phone?
Since i understood how adb is used, I categorized further remaining problem into two type:-
1. If I hadn't installed right drivers...
I tried installing driver from different source but i failed (i guess).
So anyone can provide me link for Drivers for Fire Phone?
2. If i have installed right drivers then :
I tried steps as you suggested but my phone won't boot into recovery mode. When i connect Phone to my pc holding volume + , It shows charging symbol as usual.
If i am doing the process in wrong way, please correct me. I will be waiting for helps...:crying:

Your only hope to revive this phone is to get into the stock recovery.
If you wiped the stock recovery or messed with it then your screwed as there is no PC flashtool like odin, spflashtool, etc etc that works on the fire phone that I am aware of so you need the stock recovery to be functional.
To get into recovery re-read post #2 HERE very carefully on how to do it. :fingers-crossed:
There is no need to PM me just simply quote me in this thread and I will then get notified.
You also need to provide as much info as possible things such as screenshots, photo's, Videos, logs etc etc as these will help when people try to assist you.
Once you are in stock recovery we can move on.

Weirdly enough -my gfs fire phone started exhibiting the same exact issue just yesterday(amazon logo blinks on start up and doesnt go any further no matter how long you wait) and this is the first link google gave on the problem. Did anyone find a resolution to this? She loves this phone and I already replaced battery once few months ago.
