I can't seem to find a fix for my MMS. I went from Sprint to Page Plus with my Epic Touch 4g. Everything works fine, web, apps, youtube, etc. However I cannot send or receive pic messages or long texts. I have tried manually inputting the verizon APN settings but they won't take and I am still not able to figure it out. Is there any package I can install to just take care of this crap? Every time I manually change it within a ffew hours I get an error message and my settings switch back to Sprint settings. I ask about a package because I saw that in one of the settings in the ##data# menu there is a APN selection and in there it has Sprint as the one and only option. I'm curious if I can install Verizon settings and remove sprint or at least have the option to switch in that menu. I also tried installing go sms and that also did not work. Please help, it is annoying having to email pictures back and forth in order to send pics and big messages.

How does one do this? Can you give me a walk-through? I'm relatively new to this stuff..

Hi all,
Been loving the Desire so far but this evening I got an mms from a friend, presumably showing me his own new Desire, and while the messaging app shows an unread message waiting it doesn't seem to want to download it.
The picture messaging settings seem accurate in the network settings so I'm at a loss as to what's up. This is all via T-Mobile, as per the subject, and everything configured itself when I put the sim in.
Any ideas?
I'm on t-mobile and receive and send mms mostly okay but there have been occasions where my mms wouldn't send at all. tried a different picture and it worked. I've had problems with mms and t-mobile on my iPhone before I got my Desire so I think it's a problem with t-mobile not the Desire?

You need to enable mms for you account, they are not included in the contract and thus you need to activate them online or by contacting them if it doesn't activate when you receive or send an mms.
All good suggestions, thanks.
I checked my account online and it's set to allow picture messages. I also just sent a picture to a friend, which arrived fine. I did notice that it disconnected from the net both before and after sending, so I'm thinking it's using different settings to send them.
Under Settings/Wireless & Networks/Mobile Networks/Access Point Names it does actually show two connections. One called T-Mobile Internet and one called Picture Message.
They're both very similar, except the T-Mobile Internet has no username/password set and no MMS server details. Also the APN type is set to "default" and "mms" respectively. Wondering if I should try combining the two...
Fake Edit: I just asked the same friend to send me a message back and this time it worked. Guess I just need to keep trying every once in a while to see if it happens again.
T-Mobile accounts generally are enabled for MMS to begin with, but to finalise the settings and actually activate it, you have to SEND an MMS. This activates the service.
Once you have done that, you can then normally receive.
if you hadn't sent an MMS before this, that is probably why.
Yeah that could be it, too; although I'm sure I'd sent MMS messages on my Touch HD before (same SIM). Ah well, it seems to be working for now at least! Thanks again all.
If you're using Handcent for sms / mms, that might also cause your issues...
Been working on this issue on and off for a couple days and thought it was time to ask the pros. I can send/rec sms messages with no problems. But if someone sends me a mms it has the download button but the picture will not download. I have double checked my APN settings and they match what Straight Talk says to use. This in an unlocked GNEX from the play store with the AT&T/Unlocked sim card they send out.
Thanks
this happens to me quite often but usually only on wifi or if the person decides to send like 5 pics at once, otherwise it will download the attachment just fine.
In the apn listing under MMSC, there is a line starting http://. Make sure the line starting with http:// has all the correct info. If not correct info press menu to see option to save changes.

make sure the proxy line starts with proxy, also try erasing the cingular apn setting the phone comes with.
My Unlocked Play Store Galaxy Nexus is doing the same thing on Straight Talk. Tried messing with putting the proxy back in and also turning off Wifi. Still the same issue as OP.
My first day with Straight talk and I'm having the same issue with MMS. All settings are right but I can't send out MMS
Hey guys. Make sure this is all correct too. I was getting very disappointed with Straight Talk about this. Somehow this got erased or reset having never entered that menu.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1635040
P.S. I use Google Voice now but I still receive MMS from straight talk regarding my bill. I got sick of entering all of the APN. Now I only include
Straight Talk
att.mvno
Thats it. Works like a charm. Have never had any issue. I've only been distributing my Google Voice number for about 2 years having frequently shopping carriers. But like I said I still receive MMS from Straight Talk.
Last week, my Nexus S bricked up on me, so I sent it off for repair and got a shiny new Galaxy S2 (T989D, from Koodo.)
I can't really afford a data plan in addition to cell and texting service, so on my Nexus (even with ICS installed) I edited my APN type to only include mms (I think the two I got rid of were "default" for internet, and "supl" which I think was for GPS or some such.)
However, on my S2, when I try to edit the APN settings, I cannot change the default APN for some reason. I can however add a new APN, but when doing so, I have 3 options for APN type, "Internet + MMS," "Internet," and "MMS." When selecting the first two, everything works fine, and I can select my custom APN information.
However, when choosing "MMS" by itself to prevent data charges, I save the APN, and when I try to select it, there is no ability to do so. I can't link a screenshot, but I attached one that demonstrates what I'm talking about. The two Internet APNs can be selected, but the MMS ones have no selection circle (finding this image makes me feel like I'm missing something.)
Next to any APN I set to MMS only, regardless of any other information in any other field, there is no selection circle. All I have to do to get one is set the APN type to "Internet + MMS" or "Internet," and it will appear and I can select it as normal. If it matters, I have root access.
Apologies if I'm missing something obvious, or if this is a common question. I've searched all over the internet, tried many different strings in this specific forum, and given a quick search in the T989 development forum, to no avail. I'm going to call my provider (Koodo) tomorrow, but I figure they'll just act dumb if they aren't. I'd really like to be able to send picture messages but cannot afford a data connection, so any help that could be provided would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT: I think this would be better off in the Q&A forum, apologies if so, I cannot see a way to send it there now.
I have the same problem with my Nexus S. It almost seems as they don't want us using just MMS alone. For example you can't change APN settings programmatically with ICS and it doesn't seem to allow an APN type of MMS only!?
Wait I think I just figured it out! Yeah!
I had in the APN type just mms but when I put mms, (comma) it gave the the option to choose it!
Alright, here's my story, after switching from Sense to CM11 when I first got my HTC One a few months ago things were working alright, then at some point I lost the ability to send or receive mms messages. I looked online and found that there were a few people with the same problem, most said the problem had to do with the apn settings, the solution to was either modified apn settings or using an alternate messaging program, such as 8sms.
Anyways, I tried several different apn setups to try and get my mms back, my LTE internet worked, but no mms. Eventually I found a setup that allowed me to send a mms to someone, but not receive one. I figured that was a good as I was going to get it.
After a few OTA nightly updates I decided to tinker with the apn settings again; my hope being that one of the new nightlies would have fixed the problem if I restored my apn settings to default. This didn't help and cost me the ability to even send mms. Needless to say I scoured the web to find usable apn settings again (I prefer to use the stock messaging app), eventually I ended up Frankensteining several together and found a solution that allowed for me to send and receive mms, as well as my LTE internet!:laugh::laugh:
[TL/DR]
Found APN settings that enable sending and receiving mms, as well as LTE internet (with a lte subscription, it's not a hack or anything).
Android Version - 4.4.2
CM Version - 11-20140430-NIGHTLY-m7vzw

still having mms issues

I'm on the cm11 nightlies for m7vzw and did this and still can't send MMS. any ideas?
I'm having a frustrating issue with the stock Android Messages app. My work sends notification texts via email, ie. from a gmail account to "mynumber"@tmomail.net.
The Android Messages app (stock android sms app), will not download these texts. I've been troubleshooting this all week and continue to come up empty, here is a breakdown of symptoms and what I have tried:
-My phone does notify me that a message is received, but requires me to tap to attempt to download the message, but the download always fails.
-Auto-download MMS is enabled, app is up to date
-third party apps WORK (kinda, see textra screenshot. message is delivered along with a weird code)
-if there is a subject in the email, the subject WILL display in the text, but not the body
-Safe Mode does not fix it
-phone is Pixel XL from Play store on T-Mobile
-issue happened on stock unrooted phone with all updates
-after exhausting all options I unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP and Pure Nexus rom, issue did not go away
-have deleted and edited all APNs countless times changing damn near every option to no avail
-have tried on and off wi-fi, with and without wi-fi calling, no changes
-normal MMS works fine (picture texts, group texts)
-have tried same APNs and apps on two different devices on my plan (V20 and S6 edge), and this issue cannot be duplicated. tmomail messages works fine on those phones with the exact same settings as on my Pixel
That's basically it. Hopefully I'm missing something simple. Please help if you have any suggestions, I'm open to just about anything. I know the easy fix is to just use Textra or another third party app, but I really don't want to. Also I can't stand not knowing what the problem is!!! Thanks in advance!
What do your apn settings look like
Right now they are reset to default.

Can you edit? Add MMS to apn type, reboot, make sure it sticks and try again

It stuck upon reboot, but no change. Tried it twice.

Hey so I know your post is literally years old but I had been going through the same problem for YEARS before someone at T-Mobile finally figured it out. I figured I would post this to give you a hand and maybe someone else with this problem.
After going back and forth with T-Mobile for, no joke, 2 years on this issue, the fix was finally discovered. It has to do with T-Mobile "Digits". It's a "free" "second line" which is really just an alternate phone number for you to give people on sites like CraigsList if you don't want people to know your real number. You can just use Google Voice for this. Anyway, call T-Mobile and tell them you don't want your Digits number linked to your cell number (at least not for texts) and it will fix the issue.
Drove me crazy for YEARS. Hope this helps you or anyone else out there!
