How to uninstall CWM recovery and install stock recovery again - Galaxy Grand Duos i9082 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Hi members, I am back again!
I want to uninstall CWM from G' Grand and put the stock recovery back on, or something similar as I when I go into recovery mode, it says ''can't mount' SD card' hoping it's just CWM and not the phone. As I want to install some apk files I deleted by accident , see threadhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50374303
Anyone think it's worth uninstalling CWM as it may fix the issue with another recovery:? Is so, any links or info' on how I go about uninstalling and put another recovery back on?
Thanks in advance, Alex

Recovery Problems

I am pretty sure I accidentally deleted the folder on my SD card with Clockwork Recovery in it and now when I try to go to recovery I just get a red triangle with the ! in it. When I try to backup using ROM Manager it shows a loading bar for a second before giving me a question mark then rebooting.
I rooted but did not install any ROM except the "root only" one on the sticky post.
What do I do now?

ROM Manager isn't going to work unless you have installed the engineering image. To get back in to the clockwork you need to do that or refollow the original root procedure to get back in.
Well unfortunately my problem is that I can not see the device on adb anymore, even during normal operation.
Any idea why?

Make sure USB debugging mode is on. If that is on, then you have a driver or cable problem.
Well I have gotten adb to work again.. and tried flashing the eng build but it wont do anything... it definitely is doing something different when it starts up than before when I went to fastboot but it just brings me back to fastboot
yes.. i have the ESPRIMG.zip in the sd cards root folder.. yes I did every other step correctly just like the video... but still no go. i tried doing the boot loop again to get into recovery but I get nothing but the red triangle and !
Pleeeeeease help!
Okay okay.. so now it seems I got it... seems I had to start from scratch and delete clockwork mod that was installed from clockwork rom manager
now my only problem is eng build wont update.. no idea why everything is there with right permissions but it doesnt give me the option to update

ESPRIMG.zip is on the root of your sdcard, correct? What kind of messages do you get when you go in to the bootloader?

[Q] manual OTA-update on revoked-root-desire

hi,
as far as i found out today it was recommended not to install the OTA-update that has been provided by HTC because I would lose my Root-rights.
Since this is not a problem for me I wanted to install it - but it fails everytime with messages like
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
[...]
Would it make sense to install it maunally? the download over the air was no problem, so i could easily put it into root-folder, rename it and install it manually. but do i have any other negative side effects except losing rootrights?
regards,
andre
Bootloops for one..
The cleaner way to run it, is to run the RUU (Do create a goldcard before you do), then run the OTA as update.zip, as Nature intended..
And why on earth would you need an OTA on a rooted phone. Just get the latest rooted ROM which would be more uptodate..If you just dont want root, do as above..
Well, no in this case it's just run the 2.29.405.2 RUU then you've not got to bother about the OTA!!
First i try to install as "zip from sd" with clockwork. But I become bootlooping phone.
Then I try to install with goldcard. All was ok. But when am try to install an app from market, my phone restarted at the point of installation.
Is any other way to update without RUU with clockwork?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
In a word, no. You can try a hard reset but best way is to flash the RUU. Gold card only needed if you have a branded hendset

the major disadvantage is loosing all information. or is titanium backup able to restore everything? i don't believe so.
regards,
andre
Titanium works on rooted phones, so you could flash stock, root it and then restore
does someone know why installing this OTA-upgrade is failing with signature-message?
Don't flash it if you're rooted - simple as that!!!
understood that. but i want to get some more infos on that.
beside this, since i have to flash a new rom anyway: which is a very good rom you are using? will everything be restored by titanium backup, or will the screens e.g. not be backuped and restored?
I'm on stock 2.29.405.2 and not rooted. It's a good ROM. You'll need to obviously root your phone again to restore the backup
bad loop... ;-)
get back to official rom with OTA but without restoring the backup... or stay on root... i think i will stay on root now. i will try the update this evening and check for the restore how far it works...
thanks for your effort.
HELP!!!
i tried now several times to install a shipped rom (2.10.405.2, 2.29.405.2), but it is not working! it restarts my desire, and it stays with the black screen and white HTC letters... error 171 is displayed afterwards... how can i resolve it? i tried already to download a rom as zip and tried to install it via unrevokedrecovery 2.5.0.7 via "apply update.zip", but it didn't work as well.
can someone help me???
regards,
andre
edit: after installing htcsync it worked again...
YOU CANNOT DOWNLOAD A STOCK ROM AND FLASH IT VIA CLOCKWORK MOD!!!
How many more time does it have to be said????
If you wanna try flash a custom ROM you don't select 'apply update.zip' - you go to flash ROM from SD card and choose the ROM you want to flash. If you don't know how to use CWM why the hell ahve you rooted?!!?

I honestly didnt understand what you're trying.
If you want to get the system unrooted, back to stock, then:
Read FAQ 5 and get the PB99IMG.zip
After getting PB99IMG.zip, put it in root of sdcard/goldcard,
Switch Off
Switch on with Back and Power. Keep it pressed.
The system will detect the file and prompt
Press Vol+ to start the RUU
To install a custom rom, "Install zip file" from Clockworkmod.
4. Volume down + power, not back. Back will take you to FASTBOOT

[Q] bootloop and red triangle in recovery mode HELP NEEDED!

Dear guys from XDA,
I think I messed up real good this time. My rooted HTC Desire with a 2.2 ROM wasn't taking the update which I wanted to do. To fix this I tried to manually update my phone by downloading the update on my computer and run it via Recovery mode. I used the option install zip from sd card.
Unfortunately by doing so, I did not realize I deleted my ROM and replaced it with an update. Now I'm stuck with a phone in bootloop and red triangle when trying to access recovery mode to install my older ROM (which I usually did when I messed it up).
I know I can press the volume up button and reboot but then I get stuck into a bootloop. Eventually I have to pull the battery out and I'm back at the beginning. Can't do anything anymore.
I tried many tutorials but I could not fix this, also I'm not really into the 'techy' stuff so can you guys be real clear in your help.
sounds like you're just missing a ROM on your phone. Can't you just download the ROM you want, put it on your SD card and flash that to get back up and running? Or restore a NANDroid backup?
...assuming you mean you rooted your phone and then failed at flashing a ROM..but it sounds like you might mean you attempted to download and OTA update after being rooted?
Download a ROM, put it on your SD card, boot into Recovery (vol. down + power), wipe all data, cache, dalvik, then install the new ROM from the SD card.
Hi,
thx for your reply. I am indeed missing a ROM. The problem is that I can't access the option 'install zip from sdcard' in my recovery mode. I am now trying to rename a ROM as update.zip so I can install that. Any further suggestions?

Install HTC Sync, download the RUU which most resembles your original RUU from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667.
Connect your phone via USB in fastboot, and run the RUU.exe you've downloaded. You should be fine.
yes it helps you
you can run a RUU now
just plug phone with usb cable to PC, boot into fastboot mode and execute the RUU.exe
it will go back to stock, you will lose root and custom recovery but at least it will boot up, so you can root again etc.
Thx guys! that did it for me! Really easy job! You have no idea how relieved I am right now. Some tech-guys at my local computer shop told me to send it back to the manufacturer cuz the ROM needed to be synced with the motherboard. I already thought it was a weird story.
Again, thx XDA!

Bricked my F240L! what now?

Hi,
I tried to install cm11 on my new F240L and i think i used the wrong cwm file on freegee.
Now when i turn it on there is a screen on for a second saying: secure booting error. cause: device unlock! , so boot success!!
after that it goes to a screen loop of cm logo spinning.
i couldn't find a solution online.
What can I do?

I get the same device unlock error when I boot up, but I believe that is normal when you have root.. Did the CM file flash successfully and which one did you use?
yes it said the flash was successful and still its stuck in a loop.
could it be the wrong cwm on freegee?

Can you still get to CWM? If so, try wiping cache and dalvik cache to begin with.. If that doesn't work, do you know how to push files from the computer to the phone through ADB? If you do, here is the link for correct recoveries for the F240L..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2361941
You could download and push one of those recoveries, reboot to recovery, then try to reflash CM11...if all else fails, you can return to stock with the LG Flash tools and start from scratch..

No I don't think you have destroyed it.. Is there an option in CWM to sideload files (through ADB)?

yes there is.
after pressing on install zip it says: install zip from sideload
Do you know how to sideload? You can try to download and sideload another rom that is compatible with your device.. As long as you can get to recovery or download mode you still have hope...If your screen doesn't turn on at all, that's when you are hard bricked and out of luck
---------- Post added at 11:25 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:23 AM ----------
I didn't even think about this, but if it still recognizes your external SD card, you can download a rom onto your computer, copy it to the SD card, then install through CWM.

SD does nor seem to work
I do not know how to do that. Where is it recommended to learn?
You first have to have Android SDK found here:
https://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
This link explains what ADB is and how to use it:
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/what-is-adb-and-how-to-install-it-android/
I'm not familiar with the F240L as mine is the E980.. I don't want to give you any wrong information...
I did find this thread that looks similar to your problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2552699
That may be a start on how to fix it.. I know how frustrating it can be.. I have soft bricked mine once..
thanks! I read and tried pushing several files a few times and they either install successfully and i come back to cwm or are stuck trying to install the rom.
again, any ideas?

I'm out of ideas for you to try other than a complete stock restore and start over.. I would read ALOT before doing anything that may cause issues...
I found this thread on how to return to stock on your phone (looks like he gave really good instructions):
