Usually the fastest is if you have a card reader on your pc.
If not connect your phone to your pc and copy everything off. Then swap the sd card and copy the files back, don't turn off your phone. just take off the back and hold the battery in place.

Bigger Memory Card

Hi all
I have been using my Orbit for about 2 weeks now and the 512mb card is beginning to look a little small, especially if I want to start putting some MP3s on it.
If I buy a larger card, say 2gig, can I simply copy the contents from the old one to the new one or will i need to re-install everything again?
Thanks for your help
Richard
Hi Richard,
You can just copy all the data over and it should work no worries.
I would suggest you do this in your pc because you will haveto replace the memory card in the phone, and when you boot the phone it might crash as nothing will be on it.
The best idea would be to turn the phone off, remove the memory card, copy everything on it to a folder on your pc, then put your new card in the pc, copy it all back onto that and then finally put the card back in your phone and boot it.
This worked fine for me, but you will need to have a card reader in your pc to read the sd card, and you will also need an adapter for the microsd card to go into (microSD -> SD adapter). If you are buying a new microSD card they usually have this with them.
If it fails you can just put your old card back in to recover.
Cheers, Towelie.
Thanks Towelie
I just need to get the new card now

Micro SD card sometimes disappearing

I am using T-mobile Touch Pro 2.
I am quite satisfied with this device except for one problem.
Sometimes (once a day or every other day?) when I turn the device on, the micro sd card is not detectable. The card is in the slot, but the device just cannot find it. (It shows like there is no sd card!)
When I reboot the device or take the micro sd card off and insert again, the device recognize it which makes me very annoyed.
Anyone who has the same problem and the solution?
Many thanks in advance.
FYI, I am using Transcend 8GB micro sd card (class 6.)
The only time I have something like this issue is when I connect the phone to the PC as an external drive, which is by design. Unplugging the phone sets it right again.
Change your MicroSD to SanDisk and you wont have any problems. I have a class 2 16GB and I dont have any problems. If you're worry about the performance, it's pretty fast. using the phone as removable drive it writes at just under 4mb/s, using a usb adapter and the write speed sustains at 8-10mb/s which out performs minimum class 6 standard. All the test was done on a 16gb class 2 with 10gb of badly fragmented files already on the card and writing another 5.5GB into the card. I havent tested read speed but it's faster than write speed.

I had the same problem when i first got my sprint pro 2. All you have to do to fix is... using any card reader, copy all the files on your micro sd card to a new folder on your computer. then format the card to fat32. once formatted copy all of your files back onto the card. pop it back in and you should be good to go.. after doing this to mine, my 16g card hasn't disappeared once.

[Q] MiscroSD file transfer

So I'm planning on buying a bigger MicroSD card soon (16gb) and need to transfer my current data on the 8GB card that came with the phone - what app would you guys recommend to get the job done?
I'm going to assume that by "app" you mean an application for your G2. There aren't any apps. How do you expect to copy the data from one sd card to the other without being able to insert both SD cards at the same time? Just copy the data to your computer, insert the new sd card, then copy the old data from your computer onto it. Its that simple.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 running Cyanogenmod.
take the memory card out and put it into a full sd card adapter then xfer it by plugging the sd card into a memory card reader.
that would speed up the process quite a bit.
when my wife went from 4 to 8 gbs we just plugged the phone in and pulled the stuff off put the new card in and copied it back over...

Procedure for switching out sd card?

What's the best way to switch out your sd card without losing any of its contents. My best guess would be to:
1) Copy contents of old sd card onto your hard drive
2) Remove old sd card
3) Format new sd card
4) Copy contents of old sd card from hard drive to new sd card
Am I missing anything? I've read that FAT32 is recommended over exFAT? Has anyone heard different? Also, is it better to format the card using your PC or should I just format the card in my S3?
Hi,
I recently switched from an 8gb sdcard to a 16gb sdcard. I put everything from the 8gb on my computer hard drive, safely unmounted via storage in settings, then just popped the new one in, not messing with format or anything. a month later and I'm doing fine.
Hope this helps
I would recommend formatting the sdcard in a PC, if possible
If not, then do it through your phone
And yes, the procedure you have laid out is perfectly fine

Lenovo P2 Upgrade SD card from 32 to 64 GB

My existing SD card is running out of capacity, so im trying to insert a 64Gb card into the phone. When trying to clone the this card in my laptop, i keep getting the message to format the card. Which obviously i don't want to do. The card works fine in the phone so i don't suspect a faulty card. If i plug the phone into the laptop the card is visible, and i can copy the files, and transfer them to my 64Gb card but then this is not usable on the phone. What is the procedure for upgrading the SD card in the Lenovo P2.
My observations lead me to believe that the formatting of the P2 is not compatible with windows 10.
any help much appreciated.

Copy the files from the previous SD card to your computer by using the USB cable to connect the phone. Then do the same to copy to the new card.
It sounds like your SD card is formatted as internal memory rather than portable.
When you put in your new SD it will ask how you want to use it. Choose portable and copy your files over.
