I have the app "reddit is fun golden platinum." I did a Nandroid backup, flashed some other ROMs, then wiped everything and restored my backup. Everything works fine except "reddit is fun golden platinum." It force closes after a few seconds. I have cleared app cache and app data, as well as uninstalled and reinstalled. Nothing fixes it.
Any suggestions?
Go into your settings, wipe data for the app.

I am having some weird issues with the nightly CM7 builds and wanted to do a wipe, start fresh. I have all my apps installed to SD. If I do a wipe of just the phone memory, and I re-flash CM7 will I still have my app data safe on the SD card and would be retrievable after I flash? I'm not really that concerned with anything except contacts data and of course that will be safely on Google, but was just curious.
If you wipe you'll lose app data even on sd. Part of the wiping process includes the android-secure secure folder which is where the app data us stored. You're best bet is to use Titanium to backup you're apps.

Titanium Backup helps backup app data as well, so it should be fine!

Yep, this is what I use. The paid version (which I bought) offers batch restore, so just hit the button to restore your apps when you flash your new ROM, and let it go for a few minutes, and everything will be back the way you left it.
is there any backup app that doesn't make it FC?
mybackup pro, titainium backup, rom manager all give me FC's when restoring data, app are ok it just the data, when i put a new rom on i always wipe, davlik and battery but i alway get FC after restoring data, is there a way to get around this?

It depends what you mean by 'data'. If you're talking about system data then there's no app in the world that'll stop the problems caused by taking data from one system and sticking it into another. Just don't do it, because it's never going to work.
If you mean application data, then it's most probably an issue with an individual app. For example, data restored to games never caused me any issues, but if I ever restore data to SwiftKey when moving between ROMs I get FCs all over the place. Safest way is to only restore data to apps which had something saved locally (on the data partition), like games. Anything that stores on your SD card or in the cloud it's pointless restoring because it's either already there or you only have to log in to get it.
Or, if you've got the time/patience, restore each app individually with its data to see which one's causing a problem.

You should only restore certain system data, like mail, if you are flashing the same base. For apps that are part of the framework, I would recommend not doing any restore at all. If you are flashing to a rom with a different base, you should only restore user apps and data.

I installed CM7 today, and everything was working fine. I then installed titanium backup and restored all my apps and settings, and now I'm getting massive amounts of force closes. Am I not supposed to restore it that way? How do I make it stop?

Which applications are you restoring? If those are system applications, then there is your problem, if those are user applications then restore without data. The safest way to go is restore only user applications.

I have never been one to make an "oh my god help me" thread on a site like this. I thought I followed everything as it should have been done. But apparently not. Here's my story.
Flashed over CM 7.2 and the install went perfectly. I installed Google Apps and everything was fine. I then wanted all of my backed up apps and data back. So I went into CWM and told it to restore data. I rebooted, and dear god, everything is crashing. I get 15-30 force closes right off the bat, ADW is crashing, and things are going batcrap insane. Any idea what I did wrong or how to fix it? Thank you so much in advance for anyone with some wisdom on this topic.

I would start fresh again and use either TB or MyBackUp Pro, I use MyBackUp Pro and love it simple ui simplicity, restores apps, data including settings, sms, mms, contacts, etc....

Thanks for the super fast reply! Do you think I need to like... start OVER over? I guess this is a rhetorical question... I'm gonna wipe data and cache and whatnot, and restore data again before even rebooting the phone. I may have confused it by registering Google Play and downloading a couple of apps (Rom Toolbox and My Backup Pro) before restoring my data. Maybe I confused it... I'll report back my findings for anyone in the future who encounters this issue.

No but ODIN does help re fresh everything but not needed you can just wipe cache, dalvik, factory reset. And start from there.

Thanks for the help and suggestions! I fixed it. Factory reset, cleared cache and dalvik, and used Titanium to restore everything app by app. My Backup Root didn't work as well, since I couldn't go piece by piece. Thanks again, everything is working perfectly and I now know the joy of my first real ROM

What do you mean piece by piece?
The way I do it is install my backup and save the apk version so when I restore phone I download a file manager install and restore apps. When you backup apps you just save it as apks only. And save data and it restores properly. But whatever haha.

Well, it let me decide exactly which apps to restore, since I guess I had backed up so many times that I wouldn't have even had room... It allowed me to go app by app and decide which ones to restore, along with the respective data, as well as doing all the system data at once. It was really quite nice. But I was being stubborn and thought for some reason restoring from CWM was the best route, so thanks for the redirection
Your mistake was restoring data from a nandroid (CWM). It restores system data as well. Unless it is a known good nandroid and basically the same firmware (ie. Touchwiz EL30 to Touchwiz EL30, CM7 RC2 to CM7 RC3) you should not use that to restore data. Glad you got everything working again.
I see most people on youtube do Nandroid backups using CWMR and flashing a rom then Restore their previous rom with no single app crash while to me its so messy. all these apps (in Photos) crash immediately. and the most annoying crash is the Google play store and GAPPS it keeps.poping up like crazy so i totally do a factory reset from CWMR. i forgot to say that before restoring i totally reset/wipe everything and delete dalvik cache. is there anything im missing ? besides that, almost the same apps and so many others crash after the normal restore process from Titanium backup. someone help me if Im doing something wrong or is it inevitable that so many apps crash after nandroid restore or titanium's "App+data/data only" restore? titanium's app only restore works fine for all ....thanks alot
