[Q] Force close on CM7... - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I installed CM7 today, and everything was working fine. I then installed titanium backup and restored all my apps and settings, and now I'm getting massive amounts of force closes. Am I not supposed to restore it that way? How do I make it stop?

Which applications are you restoring? If those are system applications, then there is your problem, if those are user applications then restore without data. The safest way to go is restore only user applications.

[Q] [REQ] wipe/titanium backup tutorial? (couldnt find)

Ok when I flash a new ROM and want to do so with a clean slate/wipe, I have titanium backup to back up all my apps, but I'm still kinda unsure of the full procedure as obvious as it may seem... When I did my first wipe, I had to go back and redo all of my information for everything on the phone. Is this typical? What I mean by that is I had to input all my google account info, set up my home screens, set up my facebook app...and turn off all of my sync's...
if you don't wipe, do you have to do all of that? Does a titanium backup on apps/system data allow you to not have to do this?
is this the proper step by step:
1.Titanium backup - apps/system data
2. Rom manager -download rom w/ wipe and back up
3. load rom
4. titanium restore - apps/system data?
Just apps or apps+user data. System data varies from ROM to ROM. Plus, you have no need of multiple copies of system data.

when i flashed to virtuous and did a wipe, i did a backup before of just apps and when i restored apps+user data, it really didn't do anything. I still had to change all the configurations for everything to not sync and to put in username/password...

was shaky on this as well....what is the difference between user and system data? Just would be a pain to lose all layouts and wifi passwords.
I've been doing apps+system data each time and havn't really had any major problems to speak of
my titanium backup doesnt have an option to back up apps+user data... just apps and apps+system data
My bad on an unclear response.. When restoring from TB, it's apps+ user data. You do not want to restore system apps from a different rom. In the scheduling section of TB, There are different configurations you can choose.

any way to keep home screens and such in place?
Should be the restore desktop htc sense in TB/Restore missing apps+ all system data. That's the only 1 you should pull from there for this.

I just did a restore myself with user apps+data and it had me click 'install' for every app, pain in the ass, anyway to click and go?
Thanks

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I have a quesition about TB Pro. Today I flashed the CM6 ROM onto my DINC. When I reinstalled the TB Pro app onto the phone from my appmonster folder on the SD Card and opened it up to restore my apps in batch mode, TB Pro would FC whether I was trying to restore apps only, apps+data or even individual apps (not batch mode). Am I doing something wrong, am I misunderstanding how TB Pro is supposed to function, is there an incompatibility?
Try the problems button in titanium and clear its data in the application menu.

skyraider 3.5 Force close all aps

Rebooted the Dinc and then as all apps started all had to force close.
The only thing that fixed this was to revert back to a recovery backup.
Anyone else seen this happen?
Did you restore apps by using Titanium Backup, and also restore data?
If you did then that's your problem, you're not suppose to restore data of the apps
Also try going into Rom manager and running "fix permission." That fixed the problem for me.

Nope did not restore data... And my DINC was running find for as long as 3.5 has been out. Just suddenly started this.
It's good now I had a backup...

Titanium no longer restoring apps on CM7

I back up all my apps with Titanium prior to any update of CM7 nighties. My issues its after upgrading nighties I lose apps, no biggie, I backed them up with Titanium. Every time I restore the missing apps Titanium says "restore unsuccessful". Only way restoring apps works for me is if I do a full wipe every update. This is a pain! Any one else having this issue and have did you solve it, minus wiping every time?

It sounds like you're having a bigger issue, that also leads to not being able to restore apps.
The fact that you're losing apps when upgrading nightlies in incorrect. Flashing a nightly .zip doesn't overwrite anything but the system, which leaves everything else in tact. Not sure exactly what that issue would be, but I don't think TB is the problem.

The one and only time I've tried to use TiB, it failed; I messaged the dev and reported it to the support forum (which doesn't even exist anymore) and never got a reply. Waste of money, at least for me.

Very surprising. I've been using it for almost a year now, quite frequently, with no issues.

Just a hunch, are the apps you're restoring stored on the SD card? (a2sd)
If so, that might be the problem.

[Q] Titanium best practices

Can someone clarify if one should only backup apps when doing a TB or is it ok to do apps + data? this is based on a concern of moving from different roms. thx.
Just backup Apps. Restoring system data will screw things up if you're switching between different roms. The data on your apps should be still there. For example, my profiles on SetCPU were still present after I completely wiped my phone/cache and restored my apps.

I have found that some apps hang when restoring, no matter with data or app only, I think some apps just don't like being backed up or restored.

I asked the titanium devs why I couldn't restore system apps, it just hangs. They said they do not support backing up and restoring system apps and that they provide disclaimers saying this.
I think the advertising of titanium makes it sound like this function is one of its main features so I was disappointed with this.

It's not an issue with system apps its random.
I can push apps to system, back them up, restore them and even do the same with native system apps so I'm pretty sure that's not it.
Even trying to restore certain games causes titanium to hang eg. Angry birds.
Maybe its more of an issue backing up rather than restoring.
