Hello,
I installed my tablet in my car. I am also using the Joycon Exr Steering Wheel interface to tap my steering wheel buttons. The interface then converts the signal to an emulated keyboard, and connects to the tablet using USB.
Questions is, how can I still pull up the softkeyboard even when I have a Keyboard device plugged in? Seems that I can still use the "Voice Keyboard" but sometimes thats annoying.

Hi all,
I have just received my BizLink MHL addaptor and my Rii mini Bluethooth keyboard with touchpad from Mobile Fun. I have just connected them all up tried a brief bit of sofa surfing and then I thought I would test out the bluetooth keyboard and MHL by posting this message to you all.
I have just checked on the Mobile Fun website and the MHL adaptor has now just sold out [it was shown as in stock yesterday] but I am guessing that a lot of you will now have your MHL addaptor. As for the the keyboard there are some issues with it, but as these are the first words that I am typing on it, it will take me some time to get use to it. The keyboard has the four cursor keys [up down left right] which are really useful and the touchpad right mouse button acts as the back button.
However before you rush out and buy this key board I am having serious issues with the key board that I will investicate more after I have clicked send on this post. I will provide more details later.

OK I have now had some time to test the Rii mini keyboard with the MHL adaptor connected up to the TV. Generally it has the potential of being a very positive experience (apart from some bluetooth communication issues with the keyboard -- more about that later). The four cursor keys work very well as they are fully supported by Android and are especially good for editing text and I can easily navigate round the phone and the browser using them. The keyboard it self is too small for serious typing (if you want to do that then I would recommend getting a full size keyboard). The F1 key acts as the menu button and the esc key and the right mouse button both act as the back button. I can't find find any way to access the home button using the keyboard.
The touchpad works perfectly on when using it connected upto a PC but does not work quite so well when connected to the S2. This shows that this must be android issues with the mini keyboard touch pad rather than the Rii device it self. There is no pinch zoom with the touch pad and dragging the screen to scroll using the touch pad and pressing and holding the left mouse button is possible but very awkward.
The phone works best in landscape mode when connected to the tv but does not always go into landscape mode so you have to go and lift the phone up give it a little shake to make it go into landscape. The software keyboard occasionally comes up on the screen when you don't want it to so you have to press the right mouse button to make it go away. I have found a little trick on the stock browser -- pressing shift and one of the cursor key makes it easer to scroll the browser.
The youtube app works the best when connected to the TV as it automatically plays out the video in landscape at full resolution for an HD def video.
I haven't got to the bottom of the reason that is causing reliability issue with s2 MHL and the mini key board, but it looking like it may be interference on the bluetooth connection. The issue shows it self as the auto repeat characters keep appearing when you don't want them to causing the alternate character choice popup from the virtual key board to keep appearing.
I think bluetooth is generally broken on S2

I just got the Rii Keyboard and it works just fine on my Galaxy Note. The only problem is that i can't find out how to zoom for example in the browser. does anybody have an idea how to do that??? the keyboard is perfekt when you whant to sit on the sofa an connect your phone to the TV an play some games or surf in the internet.
how does it pair with G Note.
I have a Galaxy Note too and thinking about getting one of these keyboards.
What i want to know is, can the Note pair up direct to to the keyboard or do you need to use an otg cable and supplied bt dongle.
Thanks
John.
I am using the above keyboard with my Samsung Galaxy S3 (also connected to a monitor). The keyboard pairs and connect without a problem and seems to work fine. However, as soon as I add a Logitech Tablet Mouse, the keyboard starts to go into sleep mode very quickly (after a few seconds) as soon as I use the mouse to navigate. The keyboard wakes up after about a second when hitting a key, but it is still very annoying. I searched for similar reported problems, but I did not find any yet. Any suggestions?
How can I make the trackpad on my Logitech K400r USB keyboard/trackpad act like a bluetooth mouse for using a traditional mouse cursor?
I hate the stupid issue of how I can't get real-time "mouse" position because of the orange circle not writing its current location to the internal pointer position.
The most frustrating issues is that flash games receive the click input twice and can't read the floating circle because the internal pointer's position is not getting updated until holding the 2nd tap on a double tap which may also unintentionally force a drag function or shortly stop working if you switch fingers.
Here is a random YT video of an actual bluetooth mouse on another Android device (if I am not mistaken).

Is there an app or root function that can make my K400r's trackpad act like a bluetooth mouse?
Edit:I found the directory for mouse pointer type, but I don't know what to do from there.
/system/usr/idc/"input device config" files
file extension:.idc
Can someone knowledgable of this please elaborate on how to replace the circle with a constant mouse pointer on Fire TV?
I recently purchased the Smart Dock, in which I had a separate topic on.
My keyboard and mouse are plugged into a USB hub, that's plugged into one of the USB ports of the dock. They work fine, except it's really difficult to manage, because when attempting to type into a box, the screen gets messed up, as the on-screen keyboard appears all the time.
Is there a way to suppress the on-screen keyboard ONLY when my phone is docked and Keyboard/Mouse are detected?
My car is a 2017 WRX STI with Harman kardon system. I know the dasaita is not designed to work with it but I've put my own amp, wired new speakers and made it work. I was having issue with turning on my amp and backup camera when I put my car in reverse. However I was able to map all my steering wheel buttons correctly. Then after that, I was able to figure out how to turn on my amp by moving one of the wiring pins in the harness and connect directly to my remote turn on lead to the amp. Also I was able to provide power to the backup cam when I put my car in reverse and now it works. My issue now is that my directional buttons on the steering wheel doesn't work anymore. Other buttons work like the mute button. Anyone have a wiring harness diagram for the steering wheel buttons from dasaita? I had an Android head unit before and that one I had no issue with it recognizing the steering wheel button commands.
With "directional buttons" you mean up/down (prev/next) right?
So, the Android units do not have too many choices. You either use the CanBus provided by Dasaita (or several 3rd party) for your vehicle "family" (usually same CanBus shared among different car models and brands) and you live with whatever is supported (usually only Vol +/-, Mute, Prev/Next), or you connect your steering wheel buttons to the "Key-1" and "Key-2" cables on the unit and you configure/program the unit to execute an action when buttons are pressed.
For using Key-1 and Key-2 cables:
1) You need to verify that your steering wheel buttons are restive (pressing a button changes the resistance seen by the unit)
2) You need the diagram of your steering wheel as different sections are connected to different units on the car and so use different cables. As an example, on my Mazda:
- Perv/Next, Vol +/-, Mute are one resistance bridge that goes to the stereo (one cable, as the "-" is always chassis)
- Talk, Pick-up, Hang-down is another cable that goes to the Bluetooth unit (again one cable, and the bluetooth unit then connects to the Aux of the stereo)
- Up/Down/Left/Right and Enter (the other side of the steering wheel) goes to the Computer Display (have not played with this one, no idea if it is one cable or more)
In my case I left the Vol/Mute/Prev-Next alone as it was working via the CanBus, but I cut the cable going from the steering wheel to the Bluetooth Unit and connected it to Key2 in a PX5 MTC-D Dasaita unit and configured those keys to handle phone calls + Google Assistant. I guess I still have Key-1 if one day I want to completely kill the factory "computer display" that any way only shows basic statistics.
Hope this helps. I can share the Mazda Steering Wheel circuit so you can see what you should be looking for (most probably Subaru will use other color code for the cabling)
Key 1 Key 2
I bought some external buttons that I want to connect Android car stereo dasaita can you indicate the cables key 1 key 2 where to connect?
