[Q] Porting PA 4.0 ROM (T31X) - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How much work would it take to port ParanoidAndroid 4.0+ over to the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 (Specifically the T310), the T31X has a fair few custom ROMs available now & from what I can see the only major one missing right now is PA, I've ran it in the past & it's got some great features.
I must admit though that I've never actually ported or built a ROM myself but I just wanted know how much work would be involved to get it up & running.
Thanks
EDIT: I see the Note II (N7100) has a version of PA 4.0, could this possibly be ported?

[Q] Galaxy S 2 lockscreen on Cyanogenmod 7.1??

Hi, I recently installed Cyanogenod 7.1 on my european Galaxy S 2. I love all the features of CM7 but I also love some features from TouchWiz 4.0. Does anyone know if the GS2 lockscreen can be installed on CM7.1??
Thanks,
YogiBear69
Not so easily. Unless you find some hack like tsm parts that is compatible with cm. I don't know if such a thing exists. You're best bet is to search cm forums.

[Q] AOSP theme?

Hi all,
I haven't seen any ROM for the AT&T Note II with a JB AOSP theme, except of course the experimental cm10/cm10.1 ports by madmack. Such ROMs seem to be available for other Note II's: for instance, here's one for the VZW version:

Did I miss something? I loathe the greenish, garish colors of stock TW, but frankly this device is so amazing even with the stock ROM that I'd be happy to not mess with it.

[Q] CM10 vs Stock ROM Samsung Jellybean

My uncle is having a galaxy note 2 bought in India. it came with Stock ROM 4.1.1 JB. so my uncle wanted to upgrade to newer version of JB. So i wanted to test a custom ROM. i heard that CM10 DOES NOT HAVE SAMSUNG'S PREMIUM FEATURES LIKE MULTI-WINDOW,S-NOTE etc. so can you tell which ROM i want to install?
I don't like CM because I think the camera is often very buggy and slow.
Also, there are often other issues - look at this list for CM 10.1 on the Galaxy S 3: known issues - look for example at TV Out, how it says "will never work."
CM does not have any Samsung features, no. The camera is awful in my opinion. I'm not even sure you can choose to save pictures to the external card - maybe you can do that nowadays, though I have tried many CM ROMs where you simply could not.
The S-Pen will still work but you will lose the S Note app itself of course, and Air View, gestures, multi window - you will lose all those things. You can still use the pen to draw and write with, there are many S-Note alternatives in the Play Store.
You will lose Samsung features like Smart Stay, the Samsung motion features... All that will be gone.
I definitely urge you to TRY some CyanogenMod based ROMs though and make your own decision. Some people love CM to death and prefer it to Samsung based ROMs. The only way you will know is by trying it out yourself!

Since its ur Uncle`s phone who might not be much comfortable with broken features, i suggest don't look at AOSP ROMS, these roms are only for people like u an me who can keep playing and flsahing roms with a CWM backup handy
I suggest either go for complete stock rom or a custom rom based on stok rom
Hit thanks If I helped, its free anyways

General Dev Question.

Hey Really new to this stuff but i have a weird question..
.Ive noticed most ROMs are built off of Jellybean 4.1.x even though Jellybean 4.2.x is out.
Is Jellybean 4.2.x only for tablets? And is anyone aware of a port of Multiwindow yet?

actually, a good majority of these roms are built on 4.2 and up. it depends on which forum you're looking in (android dev vs original android dev). since the release of ice cream sandwich (android 4+) , tablets and smartphones alike have been running on the same android platform.
as for multi-window roms, there are a few out there that offer that feature. its buggy, though. an actual i9300 port isnt likely. i would imagine that coming about after samsung gets an official 4.1.2 or 4.2 to carriers. i've heard that feature might be built into the US variants finally
I was told multi-window is "supposed" to be offered in the "official" 4.1.2 release to the US.
Right now i am running "Hellfire".
Got any good suggestions for better ROM's?

wrong. there won't be multi-windows feature (and few others) for U.S S3 versions of 4.1.2 (yet to release).
as for suggesting better roms, you better try and judge them yourself.
now back to OP
4.1.1 custom roms are Samsung stock rom modified (debloated, mod, etc) people usually call these TW(TouchWiz) roms
4.2.x custom roms are built from source (google source) people usually prefer them as AOSP(android open source project) and these roms are usually light-weighted compare to TW based custom roms

[Q] ROM Request?

ROM Request- Can someone create a ROM or refer me to one which has 4.4.2 KitKat with apps ported from Note 3 and Galaxy S4? I have researched up on this little bit, but without any luck couldn't find a ROM for my carrier. Note 3 currently has 4.4.2 KitKat and after looking at it looks pretty good. It is kind of like the "S4 Revolution ROM," but unfortunately it doesn't support T-Mobile carrier.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/rom-s4-revolution-v12latest-update-t2311671
Basic idea is that I am looking for a ROM that looks similar to 4.4.2 KitKat running on Note 3 right now.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_02wdy_oENo I am currently running CyanogenMod 11 (M3) for t-mobile, but I started missing some of the features that TouchWiz offers. If anyone has ideas how I can get some Note 3 features: Multiwindows (Quad view, Same app in two windows), note 3 lockscreen(ink effect0...etc. Please let me know how I can get them, but I also do like the new Google Now launcher & do not want to remove it. Is it that I cannot get any of these features in a ROM like CyanogenMod? Because I like how this ROM is but would like to add some "features" if possible. (Current Phone: Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-T999)
Thanks for the help in advance!
Take one of AOSP Kitkat Roms and skin/theme it to make it look like Note 3

Can you provide a link to a ROM like this? And what should I use to theme it?
You can look for LiquidSmooth, PAC Man, AOKP or Slim Bean. For Theaming Look in Play Store for a pretty launcher like Go Launchers and its themes.

I tried looking for these ROMS but none of them run 4.4.2 KitKat.
Request made, as XDA is not a support site, members are expected to read and research the products in the development threads to find what they need. Or learn how to mod what it is they would like.
